def overloaded in MF .. im guessing JD n Co were of the mind both Wilson and Butters would be on their toes n away but that changed .. need another striker and pretty much squad is complete.
In which case, why offer Wilson a new contract? Why sign replacements before a firm decision is received?
Also didn’t ironinsider say the new players weren’t registered on one thread, well they are on the first team page on the club website now
Love it, next time a club is punished for fielding an ineligible player they can just say “but we put their pictures on our website, what more do you want?
Rings a bell, was that around the year 2000?
For a northern league, there’s a hell of a lot of trips down south!
About 12 years ago, I was in the Tamworth end at Blundell Park watching them fight back to draw 2-2 with Grimsby.
I had a spare weekend because Scunthorpe were in the Championship and it was an international break.
How times change…

You might have gathered by now that I am not Hilton’s biggest fan but incorrect statements benefit no one.
Your first sentence is correct but your second one is incorrect.
Are you saying that the “two recently acquired sites at Warren Road and Glebe Road” have, in fact, not been acquired?
Why ?. We have 2 somewhat proven strikers and Poulter as the 3rd option. Not enough firepower.
Are you aware that we will be playing in the sixth (6th) tier of English football next season? You might have to get used to slightly different standards when it comes to things like squad depth.

‘the seller then moved the goal posts.’
Evidence? Some are keen to request evidence when it suits. Where’s the evidence for this? Someone saying it at a closed shop forum, and not publishing it after the event doesn’t count as evidence btw.
WG does seem to be the most wonderfully credulous person on the internet.
If you want a very recent example, a transfer embargo was put on Burnley for late submission.
Different governing body’s rules though, is it the same in the Conference?
The aforementioned accounts are due at Companies House today
Though worth pointing out that if they’re filed today, they won’t necessarily appear until some time next week on the Companies House website as it takes a few days for them to be processed.
Has he been sold? Nowt on the official website as far as I can see.
Wonder how many they told in total? Can’t be that many, 7 refund requests seems quite a high number.
Very thoughtful and balanced piece which Mr White has responded to in a fair amount of detail…on Facebook.
Telling people exactly what they want to hear has also been a successful approach to PR.

Hull City Council own the MKM stadium lock stock and barrel. Russell Bartlett, previous owner, used the lease on it to get a £3.4m loan from RBS which he shuffled around holding companies, as well as paying himself a million quid in wages. Easy peasy when you’re a property developer!
The question is: does Hilton own a lease on GP, at this stage?
Since when did Scunthorpe United signing NL/NLN players become ‘splashing the cash’?
I can’t imagine Boreham Wood, Kings Lynn, Altrincham, York, Eastleigh etc are big spenders!
You reckon encouraging players to drop down a level or 2 and move to Scunthorpe won’t require a premium in wages?

Depends on his ability to borrow 64.
Borrowing against what?
I am Peter Swann
No, I’m Peter Swa…
Actually, even as a joke, I can’t bring myself to write that!

Eisa kept us up in his final season here, massively underrated by Iron fans who – for some baffling reason – preferred the hard-working but unimpressive Gilliead on the opposite flank.
My greatest fear is that he may not be a wrong ‘un at all and feeling unappreciated he may just decide to call it a day.
I find it hard to believe that any businessman would walk away in such circumstances, having spent the money he tells us he has spent.
Maybe it’s the miserable bar stewards that haven’t one good word to say about the club they say they support.
This is a more interesting comment that some might think.
I’d definitely come under the “Hilton-sceptic” camp here but it is not because I haven’t got one good word to say about the club. It’s precisely the opposite. It’s because I care about the club that I will always question those running it. What are their intentions, what are their motivations, what is their background? Because I want what’s best for the club and I don’t want its name to be dragged through the mud. Look at what the last 10 years have done to us: we’re a complete laughing stock and even when we were flying higher under Swann we were deeply unpopular around the leagues for splashing the cash & a chairman who picked so many arguments with people in the game. I want Scunthorpe United to be respected as a club, not just for its achievements on the pitch, but for what it means to the town, for its youth teams, for its social engagement, in general for doing things the right way.
I found it almost impossible to proud of the club under Swann and I don’t want to feel that way again. Hilton, for me, has got off on completely the wrong foot and has made many of us very sceptical. It’s on him now to change that perception.
Ultimately, I’m an optimist and want what’s best for the club. I don’t want us to go the way of Bury, Darlington, Chester, or many other non-league clubs. I want a Scunthorpe United we can all be rightly proud of.
Up the Iron, up with questioning.

You’ve been predicting armageddon for weeks yet we are signing players and there is no reason to believe we won’t start the new season at Glanford Park
IB is definitely overblown but are you really saying there is NO REASON to believe we won’t start the new season at GP?
I’ll be surprised if we aren’t outright favorites. I wouldn’t put my money on us though.
Got to be in it to win it, of course…
Are squad numbers still definitely used in this division?
Be interesting to see how the bookies price us: sure, we’re a bigger club than most of the division and we’ve made a lot of promising signings but on the flip side we’re unstable off the pitch and have been crap for years, plus we have Jimmy Dean as manager.
I suspect we’ll be one of the favourites for promotion but probably not outright favourites.
My point is that it just doesn’t look good when half the stadium is empty during the presentations at a national event.
Each to their own of course but I’ve always felt that those moments are more for the players than the fans. For example, I remember at Wembley you could barely even see Cliff picking up the trophy from the seats behind the goal. It looks great on TV but for anyone in the ground you can hardly see a thing.
European cup final, the Inter fans stayed for the presentations.
FA cup final, Man United fans were long gone, even for the runners up presentations.
Wembley may not be the easiest stadium to get to but reading the reports of fans’ difficulties getting to/from the game last night, I suspect the Inter fans had no choice but to sit there & suck it up.
You never know Hilton may actually do what he say’s he’s going to do. Why not give him a chance and see if that’s the case instead of all the suspicion and all these accusations all of the time ?
Because the club is important to us and if he gets it wrong then it may be too late to reverse the damage. See also: the previous owner’s regime.

“Anticipate they will arrive by 1 August”. Here’s hoping!
Where would you suggest the team plays while a new stadium is being sorted out?
The one in which we have played since 1988? The one where an apparent 1,000+ supporters have purchased season tickets to watch the Iron next season?
I’m not saying all this is on Hilton, however the plan to take a club which has been struggling for years and move it to a town 20 miles away, at a time when we’re at our lowest ebb in our history, and play at a ground which will be a big culture shock for a lot of our supporters, does not seem like a great one.
Also, do you really think a new stadium in 2 years is probable?
So are we all happy about our club being moved to another town?
Hilton stated at the fans forum he would answer any questions from fans.
Obviously a fan took him at his word the other day (well done him) and Hilton seemed to give fairly transparent answers.
Has anyone with much repeated concerns tried to have a conversation with him?
I wouldn’t know how, as far as I’m aware he doesn’t have a social media account and I don’t have his phone number. Should I ring the club switchboard?
Has Hilton done any press interviews since he arrived? I have a vague memory of a short interview just after taking over with Olly Turner but nothing since, is that right?
