Always remember that something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.
But equally, no one is obliged to sell if they are not happy with the price offered.
It’s a symptom of the ‘decline’ of football, imho. Same thing happens at the cricket (some formats). It’s so irritating. Just let the moment of success hang in the air and let people enjoy it for what it is, rather than trying to control the moment by manufacturing atmosphere.
All sport, incessant burps of unwanted music to constantly suppress any natural atmosphere.
Agree Cliff. Amazing energy and the whole team plays at a higher tempo when he plays.
I think we saw his value even more during the games he missed. Wouldn’t be surprised to see bids for him in the January window.
I’ll have to watch him a bit more closely next game I get to, he hasn’t stood out to me at all in the two games I’ve seen this season. Is he the sort of player who is more noticeable when he’s not playing?
Clubs everywhere play music and it should be banned but won’t be.
I still have shudders down my spine when I hear “Glad All Over” because that’s what Blackpool used to play after goals. Every single one – and we’ve conceded plenty there down the years!
Even Bayern Munich play the Can Can when they score!
“Facts”. I mean, it’s clearly an opinion. You don’t have to rate him but 30 goals in the SPL last year is a fact.

It’s a pain. But it’s not as bad as people talking through a gig.
This is true but when they hold their phones up so you can’t see the key part of the pitch, it’s pretty irritating.
Butterfield is more consistent, KVV never was, that’s the difference between a class player and a show pony.
Jeez. That’s a long-held grudge.

I wasn’t particularly impressed with the 2 little lads in midfield – they worked hard but didn’t really offer a huge amount going forward. Wilson & Elliott aren’t wingers, we need to find a way to get more out of them because they both have plenty to offer if used in the right way. Based on what I saw on Saturday, I’m surprised Boyce has been the one sitting on the bench all season & not Evans.
Brackley looked decent but they are a bunch of dirty buggers, particularly the big-bearded number 9 who put in a number of snide fouls. Neither he nor the number 5 at the back should have been on the pitch by the end. I was very impressed by their number 4 in midfield, thought he looked a player who should be at a higher level.
Not heard that interview, where was it broadcast?
I guess it depends on how many signed up for it? And how many haven’t already asked for their money back.
The haven’t been owners a day yet so give them a chance to sort it out, Hilton wasn’t given it rightly or wrongly
“Rightly or wrongly”? Come on Mick, just admit you were taken in by him. No shame in that, plenty were. But let’s not pretend he was dealt a difficult hand.
Karen Brady was at Birmingham for years and they were a long way from being a Premier League club for much of that time.

My first game: 2-0 up at home to Carlisle with 10 minutes to go… ended up losing 2-3. I could not have had a better grounding for what it’s like to be an Iron fan.

I was the next caller, and I didn’t claim we spent beyond our means in the Championship, I said that I felt, looking back, that we spent beyond our means under Swann with our ambition to get out of League 1. Yes, we sold our assets after the Rotherham defeat, but the damage was already starting to unravel.
We spent beyond our means trying to GET to the Championship under Swann. By the time we lost to Rotherham in 2018, most of the famous £11 million debt had been accrued with the absolutely ridiculous spending on players.
Do I sense a lot of Friday night or Sunday lunchtime games taking place?
I’d be surprised to be honest, at this stage.
It would be good if the Iron Trust or even the council could raise the money somehow to buy it (I think we have gone past the point of ransom strips etc) and then go from there.
Did they ever exist?
None. The only value is to SUFC. Safe to assume that the stadium will be worthless and redundant when the club goes bust (soon). The redevelopment value of the land GP is on is far higher without it there, and that is the key thing. Swann or whoever buys the whole land package will see that it is razed.
Yeah I realise that but would the price for that be higher or lower than the famous £3m? Given the work involved in demolishing the stadium, preparing the land, all the planning, etc.?
Agree with what Tony Gosling said about Swann being a position to allow the club to stay at GP. No idea how realistic that is but hope he’ll listen to someone he respects and do the right thing.
Hard to know what Swann’s strategy would be: clearly he wants Hilton out and will look to put the ground on the market again but without the club, what value does the ground really have? I would imagine its redevelopment value is less than its value for a going concern football club?

Leaving the transfer of The stadium and land to Coolsilk, which no one was happy about, to one side, and I know this isn’t going to be popular, but Swann made a deal with Hilton based on good faith, ‘proof of funds’, passing the supposed ‘fit and proper’ test and his recent involvement with Ilkeston Town. It needed to be a quick deal and went ahead on those assurances and on face value looked like the best option. He and we as supporters welcomed it. He and we weren’t to know. If there’s a way forward with Swann’s help to remain at GP or go back to it in the near future we might be better served not sticking the boot in to him. If we don’t, there may be a chance he’ll help? Wishful naiive thinking, I know…
It is amazing how successful that shrewd businessman is with every deal he does.
Can’t disagree with any of that.
I’m glad he did, not likely it’s made any different to our situation.
Show your working. Reference should be made to earnings being less than outgoings.
We’re broke ffs.
If only we hadn’t pissed a whole load of money up the wall on more than a dozen players in the summer, eh?
I would actually be interested to hear Peter Swann’s take on all this, tbh.
I can’t imagine it would be anything other than self-pitying & self-serving.
Boooooooooooo, etc.
A plague on both their houses.
You’ll be astonished to know that no planning application for the sites is currently in progress on the North Lincs Council website.

I have seen his post comments on Facebook. I thought it was very very strange that he said “this is a lie” and then immediately switched into talking about the bans.
And the final comment was “I find it strange that I can be targeted with hate everyday. Yet a reaction from me is deemed completely disrespectful.” Which raises the question, what “reaction” was he referring to?
“The lease he issued himself does not constitute a security of tenure required by the National League or the FA. We have made this point very clear to the National League alongside many other ongoing major issues, however they have refused to work with us or even communicate with us properly to discuss these concerns.” PS.
Anyone know why the NL and FA might be uninterested in these matters?
Presumably because the league tries to have rules in place to avoid clubs disappearing mid-season or moving grounds. The last few seasons in the National League have seen a couple of sides fail to complete the season and they would have been keen to avoid that happening again in our case. Of course, why the league would correspond with Swann at this stage is a different matter.
….. I don’t think he will be , he was promised 3 million quid and in all probability won’t get anywhere near that for the ground – Hilton’s not going to pay is he + Swann is already missing out on the rental income he was promised by your current owner for GP .
Ah, that shrewd businessman!
To be fair, I am all in favour of renaming the ground as the “Hilton Arena” just for the lols.
It’s a clear choice.
We either pontificate and try to make DH so uncomfortable that he walks away – with the concomitant 95% (???) probability that the club folds
OR
We make the best of a bad job; learn to control our ‘oh-so justifiable moral outrage’ and perhaps give the man space to breathe. After all that has been stated in anger – we now need calmness. Oodles of it!
Let us, at least, make it possible for him to stay.
The one thing that may well separate him from the previous owners appears to be that he seemingly cares whether our club survives or not.
When our very survival hangs in the balance – I rather wish that some on here would learn to look at the big picture FIRST!I would have expected better from you Les than this reductive simplistic summation. How do we even know we have been “saved” at the moment?
The ground has not been purchased. Taft is citing unpaid wages. CCJs. Is there more fire under that smoke?
There’s far more valid reasons for concern than “moral outrage” although, for what it’s worth, I think holding the custodians of our club to a high moral standard is no bad thing.
