IMO the wheels started to come off the moment Swann took over the club, they fell off completely when the “new ground” fell through and he lost interest just as he did when he failed with a similar plan at Trinity.
I would guess his mounting gambling debts didn’t help our cause either?

now do us all a favour and leave the planet
Out of order!
I thought Toney and Wooton were superb for us, I said at the time when many players were slagging Wooton off, you can see there is a player there, put him in a decent side and watch him shine and he has done just that!

Don’t think Scunny fans are the best judge of player
Always amuses me how many on here think they know better than the Manager despite never having Managed a team themselves, many of them blamed Rory Watson for everything when he was here, yet we were a league club then, who’s fault is it now?
I agree with everything SS24 says other than the winning team on the pitch part. Every football supporter in the land wants that weather you support Man City or Duffs Dynamo’s!
I would settle for a team that competes on the pitch, I don’t support Scunthorpe United expecting to win every game, If i wanted that I would buy a season ticket at The Etihad and watch multi millionaire’s run around and fall over every 5 mins.
I support Scunthorpe United because up until Swann took over I was always entertained when I went to watch Scunthorpe, win lose or draw we always had a team that had a go and that is enough for me, yes I want us to win every game but if I leave the stadium after a defeat or a draw but I have watched every player give their all for the team and have a right go then I leave happy.
To summarise I want to turn up on a Saturday have a couple of pre-match pints while discussing who we think think will be starting and what the score will be with my lad, have some grub and a bovril at half time, spend the second half discussing what I would have done differently had I been the Manager with the regular faces that sit near me. And leave the ground happy that the lads on the pitch gave everything and if at all possible 3 points.
Oh! And a little cup run every couple of seasons would be nice.

I’d like to know if he had or a medical or not and if he didn’t have a thorough medical, I want to know why not ?
Yeah I’m sure the first thing that goes through Mr Hiltons mind when he’s making decisions is “I better check with Burney first and make sure he’s ok with it”
If I were Hilton I’d clear off, dick head so called fans here don’t deserve him.

The ones I would keep will get offers higher than NLN, Chapman, Ogle, Butterfield, Wilson, the rest, nit fussed
Just listened to the start of the podcast interview Hilton’s well pissed off with the fans
Jimmy is delighted by the fans support and Hilton should be too. I guess his dissatisfaction stems from there not being 1899 £1899s forthcoming.
I would say his dissatisfaction comes from bell ends accusing him of things he hasn’t done or said he will do. One of which is an Admin on here spouting crap on Twitter and should know better!
Hopefully now the clowns accusing Hilton of wanting to move the club Ilkeston or play home games at Ilkeston (neither of which was mentioned or hinted at by Mr Hilton) will crawl back under their stones.

Displacement of tribes from their ancestral homelands never ends well.
Ask the Native American Indians! Can you imagine standing on the terrace for a home game chanting ‘Scunthorpe, Scunthorpe, Scunthorpe’, yet you’re in Ilkeston, Derbyshire!
Have I missed the interview where Hilton said we will be playing games at Ilkeston???
You only see the board advertiser’s on match day Cass why would they need a refund or want one.
Training days, restaurant days, shopping days, stadium tour days. People pay for exposure.
What are you talking about??? None of those things happen currently, people pay for matchday advertising…NOTHING else! So there is no reason anyone would ask for a refund!
Same applies to the stadium naming rights mentioned on another thread, training elsewhere has zero impact on what the stadium is called.
I got a receipt for mine.

The club couldn’t continue to operate as it was. There is no denying that. That said, I am astonished how well the plans have been received. I have not seen many people in the wider footballing community that think any part of this plan is a good idea.
What would you have done differently?
its been ok for years of success
I was under the impression we trained at Grove Wharf during the successful years? The move to the side of the motorway coincided, with the clubs implosion and tumble down the leagues?
To save time, I’m just re-iterating Daz Reevel’s post, agree with pretty much every word and by far the most sensible post on this thread.

Under Nelson the team had fight, passion and desire he was getting performances from a largely substandard team of players. Would we have stayed up under Nelson? That we will never know now but I would have fancied our chances more than under Dean.

Put your mortgage on Nuttall to score against us when we play Oldham.
Sensible post les but get your tin hat ready, the idiots may be here very soon
Call me an idiot if you like, but I am not buying “they are a better side than us” you can play better sides and lose fighting for the cause, but to bend over and accept it like our players did on Saturday is completely unacceptable, I have seen many poor performances from Scunthorpe sides over the years but that was the worst of all by some distance.
Where was the pride? the passion? the desire? absolutely disgusting from every single player with the possible exception of Ogle.

Some people are just selfish, fancy booking a wedding during the football season!!!

Did we really need another midfielder at this stage of the season? Let alone 2? I would have gone with what we have.
We also got pour arses tanned at Goodison in the cup so lets not start being holier than thou, I would swap our season for theirs!
I [posted before a saw your apology AWG, It did get my goat to be told twice I was wrong.

Sorry not at our ground Pat under 18s Cost 6 pounds only under 12s free, no doubt you can blag it if I’ve got a spare free one I give it to the iron youth in the queue.
Sorry YES at our ground, what don’t you understand??? I purchase my ticket online as I do for every game I attend. My Adult ticket is £20, I also get 2 under 18 tickets and when I checkout I pay £20! How can you be so arrogant as to try and tell somebody what they are paying?
It’s under 12s but like you say still great value.
I’ve had 2 under 18 tickets free of charge every game I’ve been to which is about 80%.
I pay £20 for my seat and get 2 x under 18 tickets free of charge, great value IMO.

Best of luck to him, Bennett is better IMO. A few talking about another midfielder? Really? Not for me, we have plenty in that department bearing in mind only 5 subs in this league, I would go with what we have at the moment, if we must bring more in then a striker for me but how many prolific goal scorers are going to be available at this stage of the season?
First time at Boothferry Park … and took my wife as we were then heading on to Scunny to visit parents. I remember losing her in the melee after that goal … and finding her ten yards away minutes later!! Apart from Wembley and .. strangely … a cup game at Burnley against non league Accrington .. she has never been to an way game. (Anyone remember the bricks being lobbed as we made our way out?)
Remember the Accrington game well, played at Turf Moor and there seemed to be more Burnley fans than Accrington. Sammy Goodacre had a great game that day and always thought he would go on to greater things but he seemed to just disappear from football.
