To be fair, they were right about the proposed Ilkeston move and ground issues, which were dismissed as rumours because Hilton once said we are definitely playing at GP next season.

No they weren’t, they said Hilton wanted us to move lock stock and barrel to Ilkeston when he said nothing of the sort, he said he wanted to train there on a temporary basis until a suitable site could be found in Scunthorpe.

Last month a few posters on Twitter / Facebook were trying to blame the Swann legacy for wages being late.

Apologies, I don’t do either platforms.

Footy on Everest Road used to be about 20-30 per side, turn up and play.

Happy days, played in many a 20 v 20 game on a Sunday on that field, always next goal wins at home time no matter what the current score was.

I do not know. I do not pretend to know.

If only the “I have inside information” ilk had the same thought process!

Really? Call me cynical but that does sound a little amateurish after 3-4 months in. Can’t blame that on Swann surely?

Have I missed something? Who’s blamed Swann?

    2017 Chattanooga FC
    2018 Bugeaters FC

    Great pedigree 🤷‍♂️🙇‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Fully expected you to be upset about the slightest suggestion of positive news coming out of GP, but give the lads a chance eh?

‘Why are posters like you trotting this crap out??? NOBODY has said anyone has to be eternally grateful or hail Mr Hilton for saving our club. From the posts I have read all the sensible people are saying is lets wait and see.’

Àgain with the insults. There are instances all over social media, including on here, where anyone criticicising or sceptical of Hilton have been met with continual ‘be grateful’ responses, Churchillian at times, rather than a rational discussion. Literally shouted down, by posters, often using the caps lock, and thanked, liked and derided by others. The conspiracy theories have gone too far, but so have those who have shut down sensible discussion. So spare me the similar ‘trotting this crap out’ line, headmaster style rhetoric. Thanks.

Would you be kind enough to point out the insults in my post?

We weren’t going to be Ilkeston Iron, but the fear of that was spread by poor communication by Hilton

It wasn’t poor communication by Hilton, it was a combination of people not listening to what he said, and other spreading pure bullsh1t.

Hilton never once said anything about Scunthorpe playing at Ilkeston, he said Ilkeston have far better training facilities and the team would train their until a suitable place could be found locally, next thing we know everybody is screaming from the roof tops that he wants to move the whole club there and do an MK Dons with Scunthorpe!

but don’t see why I or any other supporters should be mithered in to being eternally grateful.

Stop taking it out on fans because they don’t worship the ground Hilton walks on.

So because some of us choose to make our minds up based on facts and not social media clowns that means we worship the ground he walks on???

Have a word with yourself, I don’t know Mr Hiltons plans and neither do people like you, unlike you I will wait and see what happens and make my mind up then.

was talking to one of the alpha American footy types in Queensway last night he said that he had seen Lee Turnbull and a small bald man with a couple of council officials recently while they were training. surely not going to start the season there are we??????

Impossible. Hilton’s saved the club, and no questions are necessary. ;-)

Pathetic, petulant post, nobody has said that at all, what HAS been said is that he needs time to sort this mess out. Questions about him are fine, lies about Ilkeston Irons etc… are not.

As for the original post Mr Hilton did say when he arrived he wanted a fit for purpose training facility locally so its quite feasible the Quibell Park could be one option he is looking at.

Nothing to apologise for, I make my mind up based on facts, not from faceless conspiracy theorists in Twitter, if and when David Hilton gives a reason to criticise or give concern I may change my mind until then I am happy for him to carry on trying to sort this mess out.

If anyone’s turning in to another Bucks, it appears to be you and numerous others who don’t seem able to accept anyone being critical of Hilton.

I’ll accept people being critical of Hilton when he has done something to be critical of, at the moment the poor sod can’t do right for wrong!

Club Stooges (as many as we can find) with approved questions

Christ on a bike, the guy cannot win!!! He must really be wondering what he has walked into here with some of you lot!

That’s a bit rich from a poster who frequently reminds everyone that he had Swann’s number ‘from day one’. So when others respond critically to Hilton you’re all over them? Do me a favour.

That was based on evidence of Trinity supporters who told us what Swann was like, also anyone with a brain cell could see the way we were throwing money around was only going to end in disaster!

As for Hilton, yes I’m willing to give him the benefit of doubt and time to sort out the mess Swann left behind until he does something to change my opinion, that’s all I can do, lets not forget, Swann took a club over in a far better position to what Hilton did.

    Under Hilton/Dean?

As for agenda’s, please don’t turn into another Bucks, I have no agenda’s.

You really equating booing a crap song that exalts a non democratic hereditary system with remembering the deaths of 96 people?

It’s 97 people, disappointed a Scunthorpe based Liverpool fan didn’t know that.

Thinking of stepping away from this cesspit but I will be back on D-DAY for my apologies. And there will be apologies.

There will be no apologies whatever happens, the few of us that called out Swann from day one never got an apology for all the abuse we got and the lies told about us.

Club employees have not received any pension contributions into their pension pots for FOUR MONTHS despite monthly contributions coming out of their pay packets and yet super Dave believes it is appropriate to turn up in a new Rolls Royce. Max bell will be frothing at the mouth considerin he was so vocal about Mr Swannees horses.

I see UTI has crawled back out from under it’s stone

When was the last (or even first) time this shower played with any pride & passion with a sincere respect for the club, the fans and the town.

Wealdstone at home, Chesterfield home & away are 3 that spring to mind.

I still cannot understand fans traveling all over the country to watch what the present team are presenting to them, boring football, no shots on target, 6 wins out of 46 league and cup games, yes against none league terams, I just cannot understad it.

I can answer that from my point of view. Its never been solely about the football for me, if it was purely to watch great football I would have stopped going years ago. It’s the whole package for me, and I expect quite a few others which is why I have banged on about the matchday experience for so long, there is a lot of money to made out of football supporters if you get the whole package right. Yes I want to see my team win, and yes I want to see entertaining football, but I also love spending the day out with my lad doing something we both have a mutual interest in, I love talking crap and giving my “expert” opinion on tactics and team selection with people I have known for years from going to football yet I don’t even know most of their names! I love going away and mixing with rival supporters in their pubs and talking with them. I love believing season after season that this is going to be our year, and as crap as things are now I have had some fantastic memories following The Iron from trips to Wembley to going one nil up at Stamford Bridge to beating Accrington 3-2 at Turf Moor. For me, following my team is not just about the football.
