Was still the Old Show Ground last time I went to a match with flairs.
On a more serious note York’s needing the trainer on every 5 minutes for mysterious injuries and the referees “look at me” antics both disrupted the game far more than the Donny Road boys.
At last somebody at the same game as myself!
Should have had a penalty when Apter was brought down by the poleaxed keeper who luckily recovered once a free kick was awarded and not a penalty. It was more clear cut than the one awarded to York.
Lionel Blair’s (flares) used to have some 20″ flared jeans could get a football hidden in them when at junior school.
Agree that we should have had a penalty but not that it was more clear cut than York’s, it was a stupid challenge and a stone wall penalty.
What sort of wages do players pick up in NLN?
£20K a year?
A squad of 20 would equate to £400k a year on players wages alone.
Could a club operate with a non playing staff of 20 (coaches & office & groundsmen) on say £600k a year?
That’s a million quid already!
Academy? – how would that be funded?
Turnstile money would be way short of operating costs.
The commercial people would have to be the stars of the show bringing in sponsorship money to cover the deficit.Big challenge!
There are currently 24 clubs managing to do it, and we wouldn’t start at that level.
This would explain UTI’S disappearance
Great post MK, I would me more than happy for you to be in dugout.

I’m assuming Daws & Mussy?
Nailed on Scunthorpe win, players played in their correct positions, simple 442 formation and clear, concise instruction from the Management. Couple this with a complacent Boreham Wood side expecting to be dealing out a spanking and its a perfect storm for 3 home points.
No, but if we did then what?
We do as others have done and start from scratch.
Eight former EFL ‘giants’ are plying their trade at that level this season.
Not entirely correct!
Chester, Hereford, Darlington, Scarborough are all Phoenix Clubs, reformed from the ashes of sides that went to the wall.
They came up through the Unibond leagues to reach the dizzy heights of NL(N).
We may well have to do the same.
True but the parallels remain.
Here’s what Darlington got for about a £1m.

A serious question, could we get 3,000 fans to stick £350 into a new club?
Nothing wrong with euphoric jubilation. Nobody had said there is.
99% of us understand this mate, only 1% that doesnt.
no Pat O’Cakes on there.
What’s that supposed to mean??? I’m out of order because I can manage to celebrate a goal without running onto the pitch?
Close Crawley’s ground immediately, hundreds invade pitch don’t they no it’s illegal, Mickey mouse trophy 2nd round 10 changes to the Fulham side with 3 debutantes come on what the hell they doing, I’ll tell you what they doing, celebrating a famous win 2nd from bottom of the efl beating a premiership side whichever team they put out that’s what, long may it continue efl investigation or not. Nice to see our lads on the pitch Saturday at 3-0, 3-0 most of them probably never seen us 3-0 up.
Completely agree, make them play a few games behind closed doors if bell ends cannot celebrate a win without running on the pitch, I love an atmosphere at a game as much as the next person but it can be achieved without invading the away end and intimidating families that have come to watch the game for christ sake!
Even the Scunny Bunny has had enough
I’m sure I read somewhere that Glyn had taken on another role at the club? Maybe I dreamt it.
hero’s to zero’s in a couple of weeks, argh well
You’re just not getting the point are you??? The atmosphere those lads created in the DRE v Sheff Utd was fantastic, supporting their team, making plenty of noise, great stuff, absolutely brilliant! That is completely different to what those morons were doing on Saturday and you know it!
At 5pm on Saturday.
Doesn’t matter what happens at 5pm on Saturday, sacking the Manager will not change a thing as sacking the other managers has proved. THE MANAGER IS NOT THE PROBLEM!!!

So Swann is the only reason why our supposed footballers haven’t been able to string two passes together and get ripped to shreds by two bottom half National League teams!?
I’m not saying Hill is blameless but what has sacking the last god knows how many managers achieved? What would appointing a new Manager achieve? He still has the same squad and the same laughable budget to try and put some sort of a squad together.

But there was apparently two moments where (I think Boyce) left the ball expecting the goalie to come out of his area to collect it.
When I played centre back (admittedly a very long time ago and not a particularly high standard) I was always told if the keeper doesn’t shout for it you deal with it, I would never leave a ball if I hadn’t had a shout.

Until the paperwork is signed and sealed I will not allow myself to get too optimistic, been let down by Swann on too many occasions in the past.

We did warn them about how he has all the loyalty of a serpent. :-)
Loyalty??? Would you be loyal to your employer if a competitor at a much higher level knocked on your door with a lucrative pay rise and signing on fee in the offing?

Sign of the times when we get mildly excited by a lad that struggled to establish himself in the first team at Accrington and Hartlepool
I remember a striker we signed that couldn’t establish himself at Southend, he did ok with us i seem to remember?

We surely can’t go into this season 5 players short, surely ?
I want to see signings as much as the next man but I would rather start 5 players short than start with 5 players that are either not good enough or crocks.

Rumour has long had it that he has very little appetite for all the negatives that go with football club ownership.
In that case Peter should have done some positive things to breed positive attitudes. What he chose to do was alienate our entire fanbase by keeping us in the dark about everything and blame everyone but himself when things went wrong.

Beat me too it Cass, about 1.6 isn’t it?
Personally I think Tafty & Rory Seem to take the blame for everything last season & they had absolutely nothing in front of them to help em out , no wonder the other centre half’s all wanted out the club
A nail has never been hit so squarely on the head Scunnyblue.
Thoroughly enjoyed last nights game, it had everything you want, 100% commitment from both teams, attacking football from both teams, ebbing and flowing scoreline, and a great strike for the winning goal and Spain really going for it for the equaliser towards the end, really good watch.

I just cannot bring myself to believe a single word he says, he has lied about so many things in the past why should we believe him now???
What really boils my piss is the amount of times he whinges about attendances yet he has done NOTHING, not ONE thing during his tenure to entice old fans back or new fans in, guess what Peter, you do nothing, you get nothing!

No value in a season ticket for me due to a number of reasons but I will attend the vast majority of games as always, work and family life permitting.
In the words of Alan Partridge, people who say Tannoy when they mean public address system. Tannoy is a brand name!

Fully agree with Les, time to move on, he made a mistake but his conkers were big enough for him admit it and say sorry, that’s good enough for me.

I thought we were excellent on Saturday, especially 1st half, players playing with commitment and attacking intent is something we haven’t seen for a long time. Dewhurst looks decent, just hope the fans don’t get on his back if he makes a mistake like they did with Rory. All the new lads did well I thought. Feeney didn’t look fit though.
The ground looked tidy and the young lads at the back of the DRE were brilliant trying to get an atmosphere going in an half empty ground.
