Interesting and plausible observations in the OP. I would add that it’s possible the original motivation may have been superseded by a new intention based on the outcomes of the past failures. Just my opinion. Time will tell.

I’m not saying abuse of players at games and on social media is justified and personally have never done that, but anyone who puts themselves on a public platform is open to being heavily criticised at some point. I don’t agree with the abuse players have received and I’m not defending that, but I do thing that blaming supporters for any of those players leaving the club and singling out SST is unjustified. There are plenty of players out there that have to deal with a lot more personal abuse than a number of home supporters saying they are s***, that they should leave the club, are ‘wage thiefs’ or whatever. Some perspective is due here I think.
