I think it’s time. I’ve tried to stay positive with Cox. Wanted us to get through a season with a manager because the constant changing was getting us nowhere but he just isn’t up to it.
We’ve got some (not enough) good players and we’ve got some decent young players we should be getting more out of them than we are.
He was dealt a shit hand and injuries made it worse but he just doesn’t change. He defends his defensive rubbish saying we don’t want to get hammered but we’ve conceded 4 (up to now) tonight and haven’t scored for 4 games.
Morecambe are 5th and they are no better than us defensively. They’ve made mistakes and given us chances. What do they do about it? Attack. They’re not great at defending so they do as little of it as possible.
He hasn’t got it in him and we are only going in one direction with him in charge I’m afraid.
I don’t know what options will be out there but Cox is not a manager.

Spurs played at Wembley for a season thats the biggest stadium in the UK isn’t it?
Short time thinking there Mick – why aren’t we investing in our own players with a view to making more money on them in future?
Maybe we have been advised that Howe will be available in the summer.
Yeah I wondered that but if that was the case,
you’d have thought we’d have got something agreed in advance before giving him the chance to attract other clubs to come in and gazump us
. Maybe it’s already agreed behind the scenes? Who knows!
Would you have thought that Ferrite? Have you forgotton which club you support? I might have thought that a few years ago, now I’m afraid what we are doing is exactly what I would expect.
If we had any kind of forward thinking we’d be bringing Jessop off the bench for 10-15 minutes instead of Olomola.
Possibly wanted to get him on a contract if we could before drawing wider attention to him. Goals in the youth alliance is one thing but if he’s scoring league goals at 16 a lot more people would be sniffing.
But maybe that’s giving us too much credit.
Sell on/future fees are possible if he stays in England. If he goes to Celtic I don’t think we’ll get anything at all.
Good result but I wouldn’t say it was a particularly good game. Rory made 1 save I think and I don’t think Joe made any? Although Sky has is at 3 on target each? Not a great deal of goalmouth action either end. But a point against a good team and as said a game we would’ve lost early on in the season.
How Clarke failed to put that in at the back post on 80 odd minutes is beyond me though. That should’ve lost us the match but would’ve been harsh.Hope Taft is ok and Beestin looked to be holding his groin at the end.
Good shift from everyone even McAtee worked hard but let himself down when subbed.
Decent team selection with what’s available.
Hope we aren’t rushing Taft or Kev back though.
And I hope McAtee is more bothered than he has been.
We not bothered about defending corners tonight ?
We don’t look very bothered about much at all.

Tom Newey is great. I like him and Mike. The guy who did a couple recently when Mike was off wasn’t up to much.
But some of the away stuff has been appaling. Bolton and Salford in particular if I remember rightly.
Excellent news
Worrying about what they are doing again! Cox is so frustrating sometimes.
Fair and very swift action, completely correct, and that twisting twat of Southends should serve the three match ban instead, not only did it cost Scunny 2 points, more importantly it cost me 11 Prediction League points. ha ha!
Didn’t cost us any points. It was still a foul and correctly awarded penalty.
Dieng acted like a baby and embarrassed himself but it didn’t cost us any points. I think we are quite lucky to get it turned over. It could definitely be considered violent conduct. I don’t know what the level of “violence” requires for a red is.
The only thing that cost us points was Clarke’s idiocy. If we hadn’t given them a penalty they wouldn’t have scored yet if we were still playing now.
Terrible performance and almost felt embarrassed when we equalised. Not that Southend were much better mind.
Just don’t know why we were lacking all over today- Grimsby aside we have really struggled against the poorer teams.
A lot of work to be done in the summer.
They were worse. We were awful but they are an appalling side.
The fairest result would’ve been 0 points each that’s what we both warranted today.Pathetic reaction from him today. We could’ve played 900 minutes and Southend wouldn’t have scored except for us stupidly giving them a penalty.
That was a really tough watch today
Awful all round. Clarke should be embarrassed at getting caught up like that with his experience. Dieng should be thoroughly ashamed of his pathetic reaction. Refs seen the shove it’s a red and a penalty what did he gain by rolling around like a little bitch acting like he’d been punched in the face?
Thanks god we got the equaliser giving away 6 points to such an awful team would’ve been a disgrace. Not that it was much above that anyway.
I can see why they don’t score goals. Worst game of the season.

Worst half of football this season?

Personally, I don’t agree with life bans for anything or anyone, least not for first offences.
Generally agree that lifetime bans are quite draconian, particularly for first time offenders.
Only place I would like to see them is for performance enhancing drug violations in combat sports. I think if you put yourself in a position where you are fighting professionally and you cheat to gain an advantage where you could potentially kill the other person you don’t get a second chance.
That said I don’t think a 6 match ban sends a strong enough message. It’s often tricky as it’s usually a difficult thing to prove. Most cases it’s one mans word against another but when it is proven or admitted 6 matches is insufficient.
3 summer loans. Vincent and Cordner. Genuinely can’t remember the other one already? Says a lot.
Onarise, Taft, Spence, Beestin & Loft give us a very good spine. Hippolyte and Green have potential.
Turan, Jarvis & Mooney are the potential problems who we will need to shift. But Mooney will at least be cheap.
Looks like rubbish to me.
Jarvis on £1500 as said is nonsense and I don’t see that there’s any chance whatsoever we resigned Clarke on over £3000 a week.
League wise Mick it’ll be even longer than that for a red card against us during the game I think. Didn’t Worrell and Lund get sent off after the final whistle?
I think we had a good go second half yesterday it’s just a shame we sat back immediately after scoring. If we’d started the first half like we did the 2nd and carried it through we would’ve beaten a fairly poor team comfortably in my opinion.
We can do it we just need to get rid of the fear. We’re not going to get relegated so have a go and go take some risks.
Big problem we are going to have with flat 442 going forward is that 3 of our best players are cm’s. If the full backs get forward I don’t have a problem with the diamond as long as the correct 4 are in it. Gillead at the point behind Kev and Loft. Spence and Beestin doing the work and Karacan cleaning up at the base with Rowe and O’Malley going forward. Could work very well.
Cox with his usual post-match bluster…”they’re a good team and passed the ball well.” No Neil, they’re piss poor and had scored a whopping 3 goals in 10 matches before today’s game. Why do we act like we’re up against Barcelona every week!?
I like Cox and I’m still on his side but that is wearing very thin. Reminds me of Nige and his whole “little old Scunthorpe, in the championship, how fantastic!” It is nige yeah but it’d be nice to get a few points as well. Used to drive me mad.
There is definitely contact made with KVV. It may have been accidental but the player made no genuine attempt to play the ball. That should have been a penalty and a red card.
Denying a clear goalscoring opportunity is also a red card and you could certainly make a case that Gilly was clean through.
I did think he reffed it quite well overall, but went missing for a ten minute spell where he nearly lost control of it and all the key decisions went against us.
Maybe need to see the Kev one again. It was his reaction for me. When he was fouled outside the area threw his arms up and was shouting. For the “penalty” he looked more disappointed in himself.
If the rule is denying a clear goal scoring opportunity is a red card the one on Gillead should’ve been a red.
If he gives a penalty for the Kev one is that still a red? Isn’t there some bullshit “double punishment” rule where if it’s a pen it’s not a sending off?
I didn’t think any of the penalty shouts were penalties. Kev’s was the main one but I think he slipped. I did think he was fouled just outside the area not long after though.
Not sure about the red not sure how the rules are now. Wasn’t the last man but you could definitely make the argument Gillead would’ve scored if not fouled so denying a clear goal scoring opportunity? Is that a red now?
Didn’t think the ref was great overall though. Loft was getting assaulted for a lot of the first half and getting nothing.
Spence should be starting no excuses and we should’ve won that. They did their best to gift us a goal in the 2nd half with some awful defending.
Thought we saw the start of a decent partnership between Loft and Kev today good from both.
Bedeau had to score from Kev’s free kick in the 2nd half.
I think we might not be in a terrible situation with the new signings.
Spence is great. Onarise is great. Hippolyte seems like he might have something.
Unless I’ve forgotten anyone we are stuck with only 3 who seem like dead weight. The unfortunate thing is all 3 are strikers.
Mooney will be very cheap and is only young so as a u23/emergency backup might be useful.
That only leaves Jarvis and Turan we are needing rid of.
Olomola sand his three year contract will finally be up as well.
I don’t think that’s a particularly high bar, surely we should aim a bit higher than that?
Fully agree I’d love is to aim higher but that doesn’t seem to be the plan.
Howard is a know quantity and is preferable to another year of “Watson is our number one” or signing an unknown youngster.
I wouldn’t be keeping Clarke and I wouldn’t be particularly interested in keeping Bedeau.
I’d keep Kev if he is willing to stay on less money. McGahey is tricky. I think the injury issues are our only chance of keeping him. Fully fit he’d be out like lightning.
CB is probably the least of my worries with 2 very good players under contract and Barks as the 4th we only need one decent backup signing.
Big fan of Hallam but he’s another Luke Williams. He will never be fit I don’t think.

I wouldn’t be desperate to keep Howard but he’s a good enough keeper at this level.
The number of goals he’s cost us is a huge amount less than of what his predecessor cost us which I imagine is why it doesn’t get mentioned as much.
It’s not every week and it’s not always the same mistake.
The experienced players we’ve got are almost all going to leave. Hopefully we’ve learned and add some experience with the replacements. Rather than sign a load of kids and hope a few are good as we did this year then have to sign the experienced players anyway. Trying to shift Jarvis and Turan will be interesting
I felt a bit sorry for Loft as his support was zero and he got annoyed before he was substituted because our midfield gave him nothing
Wouldn’t even give him a mark. Alan Shearer in his prime would’ve been able to do nothing with what Loft was given tonight.
Eisa seems to have changed his mind from when he said he would give 100% till the end of the season. He can join McAtee for me if he carries on like this.
Swann needs to get on his knees and beg Gillead to stay. Ask him what he wants and give him it.
Exeter were a good side but the really didn’t need to be. Worst we’ve been for a good while.
Hope it’s just a blip.
