3rd was more of “The Usual” from Watson. Very poor from Pugh but an average shot pretty much stright at him. Did he hold it? did he push it to safety? or did he do what he ALWAYS does and push it straight back into the box to a striker.

I see iFollow is back to not allowing Saturday 3pm games again. Was really hoping that would change.

Oh well I’ll have to go back to being Dutch on a Saturday afternoon.

It’s doing them and the club out of money since I won’t be going anyway. Means I’m paying 6 euros instead of a tenner.

As for the team I think Cass has it bang on.

I wouldn’t say I’m optimistic but if you had offered me this squad 2 months ago I would’ve snapped your hand off. We’ve done much better than I was expecting us to do and even without a goal scorer who is hopefully still on his way I’m not overly worried about relegation atm.

Gary Bull broke my glasses in the warm-up at Oxford’s Manor Ground, the day we got relegated there.

Should’ve stood in the goal you’d have been safe from Bull there.

I’ve never known “works for the council” and “knows what he’s doing” to go hand in hand before.

If he goes somewhere he’s the only fit striker he’ll get a game at least.

Presuming he’s cheap enough and not a trouble causer I’d keep Watson to sit on the bench before releasing him at the end of the year.

Much more long term benefit to us in sending Collins out on loan and getting him some first team football.

Yeah they both played against Barton and were presumably either positive for COVID or one of the close contacts. If the positive tests were pre the Farsley game which I believe they were then the 5 should be free to return for today’s game.

I don’t know why but something inside is screaming George Miller…..

    Bunn looks a good acquisition

He hit the target at least once so he’s a step up from Miller already.

Hopefully the kid from Wigan whose on trial will impress to give us a forward thinking CM and smudgers promised goalkeeper will be competent.

If so then it’s a massive step up from last year.

Bara was a midfield general who inspired those around him.
    Mr Kenyon, anyone?

    Fingers crossed Les.

It’s been beaten into the ground but it’s what we’ve needed since Bish left. Bish was a different kind of leader to Bara but it’s what we need desperately.

Wonder what would’ve happened to Kell if he didn’t break his leg twice.

Absolutely the most natural CM I’ve seen here. Just attracted the ball like a magnet. So composed and always seemed to be in exactly the right place.

He could’ve had a really good career.

Just looked through the pictures quickly the trialist striker looks a fairly big lad. Not far off lofts height by the looks of it but a bit skinny.

Anyone catch what they were calling him?

    2 players isolating.
One must surely be Hallam as he’d have featured automatically – unless … he’s … No. I can’t say it!
    Millen?

Tunan, Jarvis and Hippo? – Not even a trot around the pitch? – Carrying knocks?

    Have I missed anyone?

It said 2 tested positive for COVID and 3 were isolating because of contact with them so I’d guess they are the 5.

It’s sad but as long as it’s clubs like Bury and Swindon they will continue to not care.
It’ll take one of the bigger clubs to fail before anything happens.

I’m assuming Thompson doesn’t count towards the 23 as he’s never played a professional game (unless NI u-21 games count)?

It was said in another thread only league games count so as far as I know he doesn’t count.

Defence should be fully covered now and I don’t think Lewis has a pro appearance in the league so also won’t count towards the 23.

So hopefully a good bit of business.

I know it depends what’s available and who wants to come but if there is room for more permanent signings I’d much rather one of those was a keeper than anything else. With us being apparently limited to 6 month loans it would be a disaster to get a good keeper in on loan and then lose him half way through the season.

Dead wood is the big concern for me. A squad of 23 and a few kids is great it’s a good number and we don’t need to be carrying 30 plus like we were last year.

But Turan, Jarvis and Hippolyte take that to 20. I don’t want to call Hallam dead wood as he can definitely contribute if fit but if he manages 5-10 games again this season that’s essentially what he is which puts us on 19 plus kids which is more concerning.

Every single one of the 23 have to be in a position to contribute strongly.

Maybe we had 4 at the start of training and booted 2 before the first game then.

He definitely said he’d sent a couple off.

How about Lewis Thompson. Is a left back released by Blackburn played for Bara a bit with Northern Ireland u21’s.

Is the picture of the lad among the pictures on the website? Had a look couldn’t pick anyone out.

Just a guess Mick. Only released defender called Thompson I could find. Thought a name would give smudged a chance to look at a picture of the lad and say if it was him or not.

Second half the trialist was playing LB, they were referring to him as tommo

    UTI

Had a very quick browse young defender called Jordon Thompson released by Coventry spent last season on loan at Solihull.

Looks to be more of a CB but if he’s left sided and could cover both that may fit?

    Trialist A presumably was Bunn.

Trialist B appears to be a left back.

Anyone go and get a look at them?

Trouble is they do count towards the 23 man limit as they’ve both played a professional game.

Unless we can find someone as stupid as we are to take them off our hands?

If we had 3 strikers who were good enough it would be much less of a problem but with this 23 man limit everyone must be able to contribute.

Those 2 are absolute dead weight. Hippolyte and Watson can be added to that list which means we will functionally have a squad of 19 max who are able to offer anything. Hopefully some of these kids are good.
