Yeah I’d be happy with that. I just hope that we aren’t going for the “Watson’s our number 1” rubbish again next year if we move Howard on.

He hasn’t improved, he won’t improve. He is not and never will be good enough.

Read it again…still a load of toss. Isn’t it everyone’s objective not to lose.

Surely the objective should be to win? Particularly when you are playing the worst teams in the league?

If there’s an open goal would be shame not to take it NI, if only I had said what Bucks and you said about the knee been routine, I would have and most I believe would have supported a one off gesture, in the end things becomes pc and out of hand just like the me too movement, women coming out and saying they had been abused like a badge of honour to become part of the elite, or in crowd.

Can you take your bullshit back to the other thread. Don’t need you spouting bollocks all over the place.

There is a player in Loft for me. His touch is poor and he often isn’t in the right place but those are things that can be taught. You can’t teach size, pace or work rate and he has all three.

Howard has his flaws but his saves don’t all go back out to the striker for tap ins. He’s slow sometimes but he clears the danger more often than not. While far from perfect he’s miles ahead of Watson and was a desperately needed signing. At 33 he’s not the long term answer but it was clear long ago that Watson was never going to be.

Solid from him in my opinion. Best game since his debut when he played wing back. Apparently not keen on playing defence and he is a bit rash in the tackle sometimes but competent competition for Eisa is only a good thing.
Thought he ran it well last night and worked hard. Final ball needs a bit of work but that’s the case for pretty much everyone at the minute.

Good result but we really need to start putting teams like this away convincingly.

Awful Sunday league goal conceded and failure to break down a team that’s not trying to score.

We are toothless without Kev. And a shambles at the back without McGahey. Even Onarise looked like he was starting to catch it tonight.
Not sure what was going on with Clarke?

Looks like Hippolyte at LB to me. Or maybe I’m just hoping!

If he is playing LB then Rowe would’ve been the more obvious choice.

I haven’t got a problem with the teams he’s picked in the last 2 games other than I felt Hallam should’ve replaced McAtee against Colchester rather than Taylor.

There needs to be rotation with the games coming so quickly you could argue resting 3 attacking players against Colchester was a mistake but the fact is regardless of that it was a game we should’ve won comfortably anyway.

We have to trust that Cox and the medical staff are in the best position to know who’s up to it and who isn’t the last thing we want is to loose another for 10 weeks like we have with Kev.

What we need from Cox is to play 442, keep the players in the right positions which (fingers crossed) he seems to have realised. And for him to get them playing like they’ve briefly shown they can rather than having them roll over like they did at Southend.

Southend was disgusting I still can beleive it. We haven’t played a worse team than that for 5 years at least.

Are you sure you’re not judging that on the table rather than the pitch? I thought Southend looked limited but organised, I would expect them to beat Grimsby tonight.

I suspect that we feel a bit like Oldham felt when we turned up and beat them on their own patch.

No I thought they were that bad. Standing off and simple balls going astray they looked worse than us at the start of the season. Absolutely devoid of confidence. If we’d scored early they would’ve imploded in my opinion but we just pissed about, didn’t press them and let them settle and realise we were nothing to fear.

It’s not as bad as the start of the season yet. Colchester was unlucky and was a game we would win 99 times out of 100.

Southend was disgusting I still can beleive it. We haven’t played a worse team than that for 5 years at least.

Spence abd Beestin being doubtful is not good. 1 out we’ve got a big problem both and we might as well not bother.

What absolout garbage. Everyone involved today comes out of that with 0 credit.

Beaten by the worst team we’ve played in years without even threatening them other than a 30 yard effort.

    No effort, no ability, nothing.

Back to the way we looked at the start of the season.

    Shit.

Last week we were robbed this week we rolled over and let them take what they wanted.

The trouble was the centre back stayed up after the corner and managed to hang on the back post so O’Malley was picking him up. He didn’t lose his man I don’t think he just got beaten in the air by a centre back which is always going to happen if he goes up against a full back. Whichever one of Onarise or McGahey wasn’t on Norris ideally would’ve noticed the danger and stayed on the CB until he went back.

It’s obviously something they had planned which we didn’t pick up on and it worked perfectly.

Unbelievable we didn’t win and win comfortably.

Robbed of a 1-1 draw which still would’ve flattered Colchester as Lofts header looked well over the line.

Would’ve liked to see Hallam rather than Taylor who offered nothing and Jarvis was a waste of space. Thought Green did ok although should’ve scored early on. Can’t complain at Cox rotating with the games coming so quickly but it didn’t work tonight. Jarvis is not capable of doing what Loft does unfortunately.
Hope McGahey isn’t too badly hurt though!

Comfortably the best team we’ve beaten this season and one of the better sides we’ve played. We’ve lost to much worse teams. Well played all round. Hope we can keep it going till the 19th at least!

Howard -8- Penalty was poor but he kept it out and we might have collapsed if he didn’t. 2 or 3 really good saves and better distribution.

Clarke -7- Not getting forward as much but put in a massive tackle near the end and walked away. Will continue to improve with games.

McGahey -7- solid but given very little to do.

Onarise -8- dominated again. Starting to look a very good signing

O’Malley -9- superb again. Excellent delivery for the first goal and rarely gets beaten.

Gillead -7- one of his quieter games not on the ball a lot but worked hard as always and did nothing wrong.

Spence & Beestin -9- put them together cos they are really starting to look a pair. It’s all well and good having 2 good central midfielders but what makes a team is having partnerships that click and these 2 are really starting to.
Superb again but we’ve got a massive hole of anything happens to either of them.

Eisa -7- much better final balls but as with Gillead not on the ball a lot by his usual standard.

McAtee -8- looking interested again and putting in the effort to go with his quality. Change of heart from him or grafting to try and earn a move? Who knows and if he keeps performing like this then who cares?

Loft -8- never stops and puts himself about very well. His effort gives the defence a break when it’s needed. Took his goal very well.

Cox -8- has he finally learned that we can beat anyone in this league if we pick a proper team and let them worry about us? I hope so

Ref -4- poor again. Fussy and constantly conned by their 39 throwing himself on the floor. Poor view of the pen on iFollow but lofts arms were down.

Good performance against a poor non league team in an appalling pitch.
Dealt with their long ball rubbish well and could have had a few more.

Also if people aren’t aware you can choose between home and away commentary so you could have listened to humberside rather than whatever rubbish was being spouted by the Harrogate team.

I’m confused? I thought if you had a one goal lead with 20 mins left you weren’t allowed to attack anymore?

Bolton still have players in our half?

Not playing 442 at the start 4 points from 8 games.

Switch to 442 7 points from 3 games.

Seem like a great idea to return to 3 at the back.

    What are we doing?

It would be an easy decision if Hallam didn’t appear to be made of glass.

Luke Williams was a superb footballer. Sometimes that doesn’t matter.

If Hallam is fit and kev isn’t he plays over mcAtee for me.

Kev, Clarke and McGahey fit and I’ll be confident of 3 in a row.

I’d argue Howard deserves a bonus point for his quick catch and fantastic early throw to set up Eisas goal. Rest of the distribution may have been poor but that was absolutely superb.

Second half was very tough watching 6-4-0 is no way to hold on to a lead.

    Very worrying about Kev.

McGahey and Onarise looks superb. Hopefully McGahey is ok.

The vale commentators are buying it same as the ref then. 90% of the time he’s the one being fouled.

What was it you said in the Oldham match thread Les? Clearest pen of the season? Might have to revise that one!

Arguably the most incompetent 45 minutes of refereeing I’ve seen.

What a strike from Eisa though. Well behind in possession but defended well and limited their chances.

Refs got it out for Loft. Getting fouled all over, being given nothing but free kicks against when the Vale defenders are flopping about. Literally got thrown to the ground a yard from the ref in his full view and completely ignored.

Yeah Rowe in for Clarke for me as the only change. Get another 70 mins out of Kev and see if we can get something but I wouldn’t be risking Clarke sat/tue after nearly a year out.

As BLT said the cup loss against them was one of our less disgraceful losses. No reason we shouldn’t get another 3 points.

I always feel that the contribution made by Spence can pass under a lot of people’s radars.

He’s going to be a very good player. Him and Beestin could work quite nicely.

It was much improved that’s for sure.

Oldham were not a good side and didn’t threaten a lot but we have lost to worse sides this season already.

Could’ve had a couple more but we didn’t panic and a clean sheet is a big bonus.

A large step in the right direction let’s hope we stick to 442 and we can keep it going.

    Here we go!

442 with a proper keeper, 2 proper full backs, 2 proper wingers and 2 proper strikers.

When was the last time this happened?
