Will do Cass when they leave the club.
I’ve made plenty of mistakes and said things I’ve regretted and what I do is apologize when i do. Wether there excepted is up to others to decide.

You want to drive those 3 away from the club? What then? Begin the purge of all those others who ‘messed up in the last 4 or 5 hellhole years and wont meet your conditions. Might only cost us 3 or 4 hundred supporters ..but at least we would be ‘pure.’
I’m with Cass. Time to knock it off and look to the future.

I’m not saying he’s right or wrong about anything. The manner of his expression is what is offensive. Absolutely charmless self-congratulatory loon-eyed rot pot.

I don’t live in Scunny and know nothing about this guy ..or even what he puts on Twitter. But that description should, after Bob Dylan’s award, earn you a Nobel Prize for Lierature. :)

I don’t call the rumoured £700,000 playing budget competitive.

Really? I wonder how many others in this League would turn their noses up at that budget. I don’t know what you would call competitive .. maybe top 6 or top 8 budget. I would hazard a guess that we are hitting that mark.

    If Christians did handbags…

…. I know,Deerey. Why do I feel like apologising to everyone for something I’m not actually participating in?
Given the context of the opening comments .. and the lack of any malice .. both IA’s and Sidey’s quips were, indeed, top banter. Made me smile anyway .. without thinking any less of BPG.

This might be unpopular, but if he’s providing non-financial support that’s much appreciated by Michelle, maybe cut him some slack? I certainly think he made some big mistakes during the Hilton nightmare but being a good Director isn’t just about the cash you inject in to the organisation.

    I’ll duck now…

Bang on, Deerey. Great to see someone come at this a bit differently. I have no idea how much of the above is warranted and how much is speculation. He certainly wasn’t the only one trying to get his bearings during the nightmare we have gone through. He was just one of the most prominent. Maybe time ..as you say ..’to cut some slack.’

Interesting thread ..especially re Gareth’s vlog. I usually look forward to it ..especially if I miss the game… but some of the slightly negative comments seem fair enough. In his defence … he’s just an amateur having a go at catching the mood and the occasion, week by week ..home and away. For that I thank and congratulate him. If I were him and felt I needed to defend my efforts I would simply point to the views less than a day after posting. 2700 and counting.

Blimey Awaywego! Has someone down there upset you? At the very worst it looks like some confusion, dithering or mistakes. No need to blow a gasket.

Human error was always accepted as part of the game …and life .. until recently. We got steamed up at bad decisions ..and then adopted a swings and roundabouts approach. Give and take. Now there has to be ‘our rights’ and ‘entitlement’ to perfection. There is no concept of an accident anymore. Someone has to be blamed ..and punished. VAR hasn’t eliminated the subjective elements of decisions and, as several have already said, robbed the game of its immediacy and spontaneity.I would happily see it gone ..and live with the hand of God moments.

I couldn’t believe how long the main culprits were tolerated. The chavs were as you’d expect and just a pain. But the two older guys were totally drunk from the beginning and incapable of anything but effing and threatening anyone who cut across them. One of them was finally escorted away by police ..reappeared !!!! … and was on the pitch after we scored our second. Chaos.

503 there today. Wish it had been 500. A couple of older guys totally blathered were swearing and fighting and one seemed to expose himself….and a younger woman stirring them up. It went on in front of us for ages with stewards out of their depth and only stopped when police appeared. All started again just yards away after they had been restrained. Kids crying, families moving away and people embarrassed for the reputation of the town and the club. If we’d been at home they’d have been ejected in minutes ..or lynched. The worst atmosphere I’ve been in for years.
ps way too slow and methodical first half and then punished on the break. Much better second half ..especially when regulars appeared off the bench.

I try not to react too strongly to the nastiness ..but am pretty able to handle myself in these exchanges and don’t see it as a virtue always to let some of the name calling and sweeping generalisations go. Its a big call for me because I don’t find it rewarding to be on bad terms with anyone. It sounds like you’re not inclined to adopt a more amiable approach .. whether because of perceived ‘smugness’ on my part or, just as likely, because you despise certain positions I hold. I think it’s a pity. Console yourself, I suppose, with the knowledge that I don’t come on regularly and don’t stick around to much when the toxic stuff kicks in.

“I’ve never seen you as a joyful individual”.

You’ve never seen me, that’s true, yet you can judge me as an individual.

More like your attempt at humour wasn’t very funny was it.

Sorry, Heath. You’ve misunderstood me. I wasn’t claiming to have LITERALLY seen you. I meant ‘seen’ metaphorically as in ‘the impression I’ve formed of you as a consequence of your posts over a protracted period.’ I’m a bit surprised that you seem so touchy about me voicing these impressions when your ol’ mentor Gurney regularly feels free to express how he ‘sees me’, often backed up by things I’ve never said or said by someone else, and at the end of his rant there’s often a little Thanks from his ‘Heathy.’
To be clear … the impression I’ve formed of you over a protracted period and based on your postings is of someone characterised less by humour and respect for others and more by frustration and hostility. I’m sure you were a bit more amiable in the distant past when we had some better exchanges. Maybe we could re-visit that approach to discussions

Aye, witness the loonies on here that are either prepping for the end of days or pontificating about truth while following wacky websites like World Net Daily and expressing admiration for the serial liar, serial adulterer and self-confessed sex offender standing to become the next president.

The usual mixture of bile and made up nonsense from our resident hater. C’mon Gurney…. surely you can conjure up a post that doesn’t include name calling and flights of fancy. How about just joining in the discussion and treating others, even those who differ in opinion, with just a modicum of courtesy.

At last ..an actual engagement from you 64 instead of just posting provocative headliners and then keeping stum.
As for the above ..fair dos. You were concerned for animal welfare rather than taking it in the direction it went. But it WAS taken in that direction and that’s how things go with forums.
As far as ‘Christian hypocrisy’ is concerned I made some observations above. In many ways you WOULD be better messing with Don Corleone than the Biblical God. The point I made was that He is definitely not the fluffy, sentimental old geezer that is attributed to Christianity. Death comes to us all. How we die and when we die is important ..but the fact of death for all of us is still by far the biggie. I will await your response.

ps I’ve never ‘felt free’ to explain anything of my faith and worldview to you ,Heath .. at least not in recent exchanges.
And as far as your apologies for not adding any humour .. it’s fine. I’ve never seen you as a joyful individual and had much expectation of you eliciting a chuckle in difficult days.

I read the list too, 64. The deeds of this ‘imaginary figure’ recorded in a book which you give no credence to certainly seems to hold a fascination for you and others.
For what it’s worth .. and it won’t just be Gurney and Heath who think ‘not much’ ..here’s a few of my thoughts.
    1. Being human is a terminal condition. Death approaches all of us. Christian, atheist and every other variety.
    2. Those stats tell me that the view of God attributed to Christians, including in comments above, is erroneous. Contrary to much contemporary ‘Christianity’ He ain’t to be messed with. Along with .. even as part of .. loving what I know of Him; I have a strong awe and reverence for Him which has traditionally been called ‘the Fear of God.’ If wisdom is the orientation of an individual to live the best possible life in relation to reality then, as the proverb says , ‘the Fear of God is the beginning of Wisdom.’
    3. It’s not a small thing to come into right relationship with this mysterious Being. Humanly speaking it’s impossible, beyond us, unless He graciously steps in and reveals Himself. Thankfully there is an offer on the table ..

Any woman at risk of death in childbirth in the States can get an abortion. The point about sentience was initially re horses to be fair although i do believe that the sentience of the unborn, especially in the later stages, is conveniently underplayed. You are correct regarding emotions. If I could influence the powers that be to feel the horror that some 40 million unborn are destroyed worldwide, often in some degree of agony, in the womb each year then I would gladly do it. If it is termed manipulation then I think there is a good case for having our emotions recalibrated in the face of the scale of such horror.

I think difference in sentience between a horse and a fetus is important for this analogy, as indeed the woman and fetus for the issue. Especially when we see the horror stories coming from the US.

I don’t. For example abortion up to birth for ‘disabled.’ Poor old Downs syndromes! 1 million horror stories per year from the US … unless of course our perspective is that only women and horses are relevant in the equation and being sucked to pieces and incinerated ain’t horrific.

Pretty fair challenge there from BPG. A handful of horses accidentally killed or injured annually in the UK, 64 … over 200,000 unborn humans deliberately killed. Hard to see this as anything but ideological preference on your part.

After holding a season ticket for over thirty years if Dean is in charge next season I won’t be renewing my season ticket

Wow. That’s strong. If we get promotion then I think he’ll be given more time. It would be a big call to say, in that scenario, this is the worst time to be an Iron fan in 30 years! Are you sure?
