Entitled to your opinion as ever ..but that’s a pretty inconclusive poll, especially given recent developments since last Spring.
As I stated in the ‘big discussion’…. I’m with you on strengthening trade which I suspect ‘informs’ those polls. But its not all about the dosh. Centralisation of power to unelected and distant bureaucrats, imposition of homogenous cultural norms etc are still underlying grievances. The chaos in France, the deindustrialisation of Germany, the violence in Sweden, the cultural conservatism of the East.. its all yet to fully play out and may prove terminal for the EU sooner than we think. On the other hand ..unless the UKs current administration gets its act together we may find that the EU wouldn’t touch us with a barge pole :)I don’t see anything but ‘ the jury’s out’ in my post, Sidey .. rather than touting positivity in any direction. It could also be that the country in general has moved on somewhat except for the committed few.
Better to keep on topic Gurney. It was a good observation
You blew a gasket when I said Brexit wasn’t all about the dosh and we’d need several years to fully assess. I’m looking at France. I’m looking at Germany. I’m looking at Italy..and Hungary ..and Poland ..and .. I’m still happy with my perspective.Hilton over Musk, NI? I won’t even try to fathom that one.
Good article, Gurney. Yes ..its a sordid business and what happened was pretty inevitable given the level of suffering so many vulnerable and desperate people have been subjected to. And for what? Maxise the profit margin! A tragedy for this guys family but its brought the pathology of healthcare provision right to the forefront.
Thanks for sharing.
Glad what I stated is ‘obvious.’ Now we can all unite, relax and see what January brings without making premature calls for sackings or calling each other out. Glad we’re approaching the season of peace and goodwill to all men:)
Spat central. When it gets so personal I414 that you have to write several paragraphs per post on how someone has upset you then maybe its time for a pause. A poor December and more of the same …5 or 6 games … and he’ll be gone I reckon. And I can’t see much dissent on here with that scenario. On the other hand .. a fit Roberts and Carlton.A bonus contribution from Williams. Maybe even an emerging option with Law. Beck and Harris bedding in and provoking Danny to up his game. Maybe even some variety in formation with what potentially look like decent attacking options. It could be that as Spring looms we’ll be on top of the pile and, whilst there will be no need for humble pie from the fans, the Donny Road will be applauding fist pumps again. If there’s no sign by early January then he’ll have to go I reckon. This ‘window’ isn’t the time and it appears that the Board are in agreement.
Blimey Iron414 … he only challenged the view that the Directors are being inexplicably negligent in not sacking the Manager in this 2 week period. I agree with that 100% ..( though not sure why it was necessary to bring the next US President into the frame). You appear to have ‘gone off on one’ several times. Just because Deerey is a Mod doesn’t mean that he can’t have an opinion.
… and so, Bill, you’ve no need to despair and maybe my reflections could be treated with a bit of respect after all?
Thanks for alerting me to the Tousi clip, BPG. What do I take from it? A mixture.
First it seems to me that I was fair to say that the Met are struggling. Not enough resources to give personal protection. Not clear enough on exactly what their responsibilities are. It’s inexcusable to me that they are repeatedly taking the easier route because of the size of these ongoing Islamic/progressive demos. The Tousis of this world are more easily monitored and ‘advised’ when resources are so stretched. I understand it but don’t accept it. Clearer policy decisions should be made by the Govt and resources mobilised to ensure compliance.
The leak is serious. Doxxing in this case is life threatening. I’m glad that the Met have informed him and are investigating. Every large organisation has rogues and a level of corruption. The test ..as Tousi says ..is how seriously this is pursued. Someone needs sacking and how this unfolds will affect my view of how far the rot has developed in the Met. I’ll watch with interest.ps I haven’t seen the video about Tousi, Bill. I will definitely be interested to look. And if it changes my perspective I won’t be embarrassed or think I’ve made a fool of myself. I’ll be happy that I’ve got nearer to the truth and had my thinking developed a bit.
I’m concerned about Govt ‘over reach’ and therefore about how the Police interpret and enforce ‘policy.’ On the other hand the whole social media phenomenon is such a recent arrival that issues of free speech and keeping order are still being worked out. Some big ‘mistakes are being made .. but we don’t want to rush to judgment at every opportunity.
Bill’s response to me I don’t take personally. There might be a bit of a hangover from past ‘difficulties’.. but generally I just think he has a very black and white approach and doesn’t always see how provocative some of his word choices come across. I definitely have some concerns as to how people like Tousi .. and others who don’t reflect prevailing narratives.. will be treated in the future. Maybe the UK will be a better place when all ‘deniers’ and ‘far right, racist, bigots’ and ‘misogynsts’ and ‘homophobes’ and other sundry purveyors of ‘disinformation’ have been locked up. But I don’t think so. They’ll have to let out a whole lot more burglars, muggers and violent abusers to make room and still be building more gaols.IA definitely benched,Sidey. That little shimmy and dummy you sold might even get you in ahead of Roberts :)
Fancy footwork, IA. You should be in our midfield with Brogan.
… or Jews as you celebrate Yeshuah ha Meshiach, the Lion of Judah and Son of David.
A bit like the 97% of all Scientists who have now settled that we’ve entered the age of ‘global boiling.’ :) I’m not 100% sure about Butler or the Climate. And that survey WAS rigorously conducted.
Agreed. He’ll be given until New Year ..4 to 6 games. If we’re slipping down and supporters are increasingly vocal then he will be vulnerable. I believe there is plenty of talent in the squad. A crucial few weeks.

Tousi situation came to nothing …so not a foregone conclusion after all. I’m very concerned at some of the trends we’re seeing … especially where justice seems to have lost its blindfold and people appear to be receiving draconian penalties as an example rather than on precedent.
My suspicion regarding Tousi is that they wanted to talk about his security as such an easily recognised/targeted figure and the difficulties surrounding ‘policing’ that reality. I could be wrong … but this is a volatile and rapidly changing world and the benefit of the doubt ain’t necessarily wrong.Am as unhappy as you lot ..but will be amazed if he’s not given til New Year. By then we’ll know if its coming right with new signings and returnees. It may well be that Curzon will be uncatcheable by then ..who knows. A big and expensive gamble to change it in this next fortnight. I don’t see it happening.
My take on all of the above.I’m not at all happy with or convinced by this present Management team … BUT they shouldn’t be replaced. If the next 4 to 6 games don’t see a real turn around in results AND performance value then there would have to be a re set and they’d have to go.
Why not now? Did anyone notice that Roberts was missing? Maybe he could have played but I reckon the recent niggle begged for the good rest that a missed game and two week break would afford. Similarly Carlton with his swollen toe. Don’t know what happened to Brogan but I can see something good coming together with these mobile, skilful and intelligent players when we resume. Maybe Jason Law will even come into the frame. A crucial 4 or 5 weeks coming up, Andy. Over to you.Nowt wrong with Toggers. One of my favourites of recent decades was Lund. Lean and athletic as well as combative.

Brogan could be a ‘find’ to sort out midfield. I’ve had glimpses and liked what I’ve seen.

Hard to believe that ..barring injury time goals .. we sit top again. Maybe the voices of reason will hold sway for a few days. If it was 4 4 2 then maybe a lesson learned by our rookie manager.
I believe he’s elderly. His age is the give away.I’m sure he’s less than he was in many ways. I just don’t see a pathology in the same way that we could see in Biden. The guy went from rally to rally, interview to interview and courthouse to courthouse for month after month. The clip above is 32 days out …did you see a ‘youthful Kamala’ on the very same day when her teleprompter crashed? Was she also compromised in her ‘mental faculties’I wonder? Trump’s style is conversational and spontaneous to the point of eccentricity but that shouldn’t be conflated with cognitive impairment. It’s hard not to think this narrative is providing some ‘clutched straw’ consolation to many who find the election result challenging. Then again ..because I can’t see it .. I myself am not included in IAs ranks of ‘reasonably minded people.’ There are many questions hanging over the future President’s term of office. A rapid decline in effectiveness has to be possible at his age and we’ll see how it goes. For me this campaign has been remarkable and I just don’t share your concern ( if that’s the right word) that cognitive decline is already in evidence.
OK.
I can’t see that Trump is not cognitively all there.. although I’m not a Republican. The first example is a transcript which misses context and other communication markers. I actually saw that speech and just see it as evidence of his high opinion of his talents, his showmanship and his non political, loose and relaxed style. The second one … what do you expect? He comes out to a patriotic build up song and he is expected to talk over it or cut it off? If people like Musk, Rogan, Peterson, Vivek and Vance haven’t spotted the decline then I’m guessing it s probably not there … unless you desperately want it to be.
I’m definitely not a casual observer IA … and I’ve not seen cognitive failings. What I’ve seen is a 78 year old bloke who can hold an audience for lengthy periods , often with no teleprompter, and go into lengthy interviews relaxed and consistent to his position. His ego led to him being somewhat hijacked in the Harris debate ..but I don’t see cognitive decline. We’ll see.
I wasn’t saying I liked Tulsi Gabbard, Sidey .. just that she seems a strong and capable woman who, whatever we might find disagreeable in some of her views, has crossed parties and endorsed Trump. That kind of example .. and the hard data of voting trends among women (which is nothing to do with predictions IA. Polls are speculative ..votes are facts) show that the Dems blew it regarding women’s likely election choices.IA wrote ‘Good luck USA, especially American women.’
I wonder IA … and I intended to stay off because I know how strongly you and others feel about Trump .. I wonder if you’d be open to having a bit of reflection on some data. The stats show that Trump won a decisive election victory wherein 54% of the electorate were women. Some of his biggest shifts were amongst Latino and even African American women. A recent Democratic presidential candidate ..Tulsi Gabbard .. is strong minded and articulate .. and joined the Trump campaign. There is no gloating here ..but clearly something is going on that indicates that you may not be seeing things straight.Brogan knocking on the door?
