Getting a lot of criticism on social media for playing so many kids in a game that meant so much to other teams at the top of the division. Bet that’s done our young goalkeepers confidence the world of good.
He will score a bucket full next season
Who Van Veen ?
Simple question – having seen him since the january window was he worth the gamble ?
Well we got what we expected, takes about 8.5 appearances to score a goal so is never going to be your main striker, your looking at 6 or 7 a season.
Made me laugh on other social media seeing … you’ve made your apologies good on you, now score a Hatrick on Saturday… well that might just take 24 games !!!
If he’s not your main striker is he a good foil ? Does he win the majority of headers , hold the ball up well and battle for everything? If the answer is no then it’s back to the old adage…
You keep doing what your doing, you’ll keep getting what you’re getting.Only Scunny could have no shots with none on target, yet we’re losing 2/1 , you couldn’t make it up !!

I’d rather see that salary be spent on a player.
One minute there was nothing in the pot and then all of a sudden Lee Turnbull re appeared, is he working for free do you know ?

We have to have ownership of the ground because if we don’t and things start to go well again, if we’re not paying rent we will start being charged it. Oh and if we are paying rent, if the club at all start to look like they are on the up, so will be the rent !!!

A bit off the point really, I’m sure I read that the ground was put into coolsilk ownership only because it was easier to get loans that way and it would be returned to the club at a later date ?

And who owns Coolsilk ?
2 things need to happen to set us on the right road.
1. The Club needs to be in a better position than when Mr Swann arrived, as promised.
2. The ground needs to be returned to The Club, as promised.
Anything else I’m prepared to overlook. My breath, however, is not being held.Exactly, first and foremost Swann needs to come out and say wether the ground belongs to Scunthorpe United or him personally, we can’t possibly move forwards without knowing.

I’m going to guess that when the “ highlights “ are out tomorrow it will probably be the only part worth watching.

watched the Ironarmy video from last nights game at Gainsborough and at the end he showed a leaflet which states a protest is planned for the Mansfield game at the Honest Lawyer “anytime after 12 and walking down to the ground for 2pm”
Anyone know anything about this and who’s behind it?
As long as they are going to the Iron bar for a pint and then leaving BEFORE kick off, I’m in.
I actually think his latest press release is one of his greatest hits. In terms of his top 10 clangers, it’s right up there.
He’s somehow managed to really annoy a dwindling fanbase and sow the seeds for even lower gates in one fell swoop. Man’s an effin’ genius! How does he do it? What’s his secret?

I think creosote has been banned.
Rather like protests!
Aah Creosote, another one of those wonderful aromas nearly gone forever, much like 2 stroke oil
There’s only one song for this shitshow.
Let’s dance to Joy Division by the Wombats.
Let’s dance to Joy Division
Let’s celebrate the IRONY
Everything is going wrong
But I’m so happy!!!1 user thanked author for this post.
The actions of a security team have nothing to do with the chairman, stadium manager maybe.
The fan JUMPED over the wall, if he had behaved himself he wouldn’t have got handcuffed. He chose to confront the security team and was dealt with professionally.
They didn’t just drag some random fan out of the crowd and cuff him.
Having been in the situation where the shit hits the fan professionally I can tell you the courts go for “ the controlling mind” and that is the person at the top of the pile ( oh and what a pile it is right now ).
Many moons ago at the old showground I remember a copper used to walk close the wall at the Henderson avenue corner, he used to poke and goad until he got a reaction, somebody always took up his offer and ended up arrested. Then one day instead of poking back, an arm came out and he was dragged over the wall into the stand !!. As to nowadays, I noticed on my last couple of visits that the stewarding seems to have changed the mood, simple tip , don’t bother, save twenty quid and leave them to it.
How can we possibly be losing money this season fielding the utter shite we have had to put up with? I get that people are told nowadays that they can be anything they want to but seriously, the proof is always out there that it’s blatantly untrue.
What was the year that they all came in fancy dress, were marched up from the Britannia, dumped in the Donny road end at the old show ground and pandemonium ensued ? My memory fails some times.
Probably done with the best of intentions Alcy. Not worth the hassle for you (or Bru) to get into legal issues.
I do think some kind of protest regarding how the club was allowed to get into this position is called for. Apart from gate gate the Iron supporters are accepting a dire situation without a protest. Having a moan on here is neither useful or effective.
Spot on, one of the reasons I probably won’t make anymore games. Protest probably won’t do much good as it appears Lord Lucan has gone for good but doing nowt is terrible
Do you think it could be the fumes from the steelworks Alcy?
I think some of em should get down the coke ovens and have a sniff of naphthalene, it might wake em up !!!
There’s something…I can’t quite put my finger on it, but every manager arrives full of beans, full of ideas etc, then slides into the same hole filled with weird decisions, weird formats, forcing round pegs into square holes, etc etc.
I wonder what makes them ALL do the same shite?
There must be something….
Surely not trying to blame Lord Lucan ?

‘Looking at their forum, fans are choosing to attend alternative non-league football in the area.’
There’s a lot of anecdotal evidence for this across the country. It doesn’t just effect home based supporters either. Supporters who now live in different parts of the country may be choosing tier 6-10 clubs that are local to them rather than following their home town club away as much. And it’s hardly surprising when you can get in for a fiver, decent çatering, feel part of a community based club etc.
Any stats you could find about gate increases across tiers 6-10 Renee? I assume this season will have seen a good increase?
I was one of those last Saturday, had fish n chips, a few beers and watched Brigg Town for a change, all for £20 . I didn’t feel I was having the proverbial taken out of me either, for a change.

March 14, 2022 at 10:18 pm in reply to: At what point do we consider the manager is the problem? #233551Ever since the stadium deal fell through, he has lost interest. He don’t care anymore! Also imagine our little big man boasting to his mates, ‘hey, I own my own football club.’ They do a quick search, find this place, and say. ‘Oi Peter, all of Scunthorpe fans think your an utter bell end.’
Perhaps he is fuc£ing up The Iron to teach us all a lesson?
Bar steward!
Perhaps ?
Izal had an horrible medicated smell to it as well, good for throwing on the pitch at footy I recall, can’t imagine you could throw Andrex as far. Annoying bastards used to put them down the pan, would imagine they would still be there to this day they didn’t actually breakdown easily.
Chucked one out of the train window passing through Sheffield on the way back from Swindon. I held the end and it unrolled along the entire platform, oh, what fun.
I remember those days, production trainee at App Frod, 2 roles of izal from the welfare and as you say, hold one end throw the other and drape it over the crossbar at the Donny road end. Ahh happy days

Are memories all we have left?
It’s memories that started all this, when we started remembering decent cup runs and young strikers coming through that we could enjoy and then cash in on!!.

The trouble is real strikers have natural ability and instinct, you can’t teach it , they either have the movement or they don’t.
Disagree. Sure, some take to it easier than others, but it can be coached, believe me.
What you end up with is the difference between a twenty million quid Rhian Brewster and a Billy Sharp though.
I went last night, would agree the lads in the Dre were great value last night, really backed the team.
I enjoyed the game, was desperate by the end for us not to lose.
I thought Northampton were that fixated with fouling that they probably stopped themselves winning the game, very strange.
I won’t bother anymore this season as it is obvious we have no ability to score goals and that’s what the game is all about. The movement up front is pathetic.
That said we did show some metal at the back at last. The trouble is real strikers have natural ability and instinct, you can’t teach it , they either have the movement or they don’t. If the ball goes right across the box 4 yards out and you aren’t At least stretching to make it, you aren’t really trying.
Time for “ the boys “ to switch stands, give whoever it is that wants the Scunthorpe massive penned in something to think about.
Most entertaining game I’ve seen for a while.
We gave the ball away less.
Never looked like scoring.
Delaney – immense, Millen – excellent.
Missed Nuttall winning a header (never got off the ground) and his burst of pace, are you sure it was him?
Still don’t think Rowe & Grant can work in CM.I think you’re right Nuttall is still waiting for clearance from humberside airport so he can take off and win a header.
I said in a previous thread we brought strikers in but did we bring in a goalscorer? I guess the answer is no after watching that marvellous ball across goal go begging in the first half. -
