No. Adjustments need to be made but overall a good start.

I’d come and set up 4-2-3-1
    4 defenders
    2 screening midfielders
    3 midfielders
    1 forward
    Hope to snatch a 1-0

Eerily similar team set up to your mate Jimmy Dean.

Certainly wouldn’t be panicking ripping up formations yet, but adjustments need to be made. Wing backs higher up and a new midfield pairing would be my suggestion; Scales/Clunan just aren’t cutting it for me at the minute and we’ve got 3 capable lads waiting to take that spot.

Hopefully lessons learned from the last tie. Injury depending, strongest side to start. Wouldn’t mind seeing Fishburn get a start if Whitehall is 50-50.

For those who have not seen it, I thought John Schofield gave a decent interview on the clubs YouTube channel, first minute encapsulated what the Fa cup should be about.

We couldn’t see a third of the pitch which was probably a blessing in disguise- certainly too many tickets sold in that end.

Atmosphere was non existent too- in fact our away support has been very quiet for some time, in contrast to the home support which has gradually improved.

Can’t disagree with the above; 6 defenders on the field is pretty much surrendering a chance to take a positive foothold in a game.

Don’t want to see Evans in midfield again, he’s had a go but it doesn’t work. Really think we have to start thinking about changing the centre of the park, looking too lightweight in there at times and so often second balls pass us by. Rowley/Brogan must be close to a start.

Pre-match I thought Whitehall’s inclusion may be prove pivotal and it became so, despite Beestin’s best efforts we looked woefully short up there. If the groin strain flares up during the week I’d be tempted to look at a short term loan.

Wing backs both had poor games too, caught in between positions at times and left us too narrow. S’boro to the their credit exposed that left side a few times which ultimately led to a goal.

One of those afternoons where you take your medicine and move on; this result has been on the cards and small changes have to be made to get us back on track; certainly nothing to drastic on what has been a very good start to the year.

Jimmy Deans main failing for me was that he didn’t have a clue how to motivate a side or adapt when things weren’t going our way; it is now Butler’s turn to see if he is up to the test.

    Enjoying the scouting reports Phil.

Do they still have Ryan Whitely in goal? Remember him playing well in the away leg last year.

Chester are beginning to put some good form together and will likely be hot on our heels. Need to continue to be ruthless and grind a result out by any means necessary; Whitehall being fit or not could play a huge part in whether that happens or not.

Crowd not really surprising, was always going to be 1500ish regardless whoever was on tv. Pricing also has to be agreed between both clubs I believe, even dropping it to a tenner everywhere would’ve added a few hundred on at most.

Job done on the pitch. First FA cup win in 6 years according to iron stats, looking forward to a cup run this year.

Would be surprised if there were more than 2k there Tuesday.

Jeez, why does it have to be rather have this than this…. why can’t we want both, like we’re not allowed a cup run and promotion, yes if it’s a binary choice of course promotion is number one but do we have to discount a cup run because we not allowed to have or wish for both. We concentrated on the league last year after the embarrassing exit, that worked well.

Agreed, no reason we can’t have a good run in the cup and still do well in the league. Seems to be an attitude that has filtered its way down from the premier league.

Annoyed with the way we’ve approached the game, the logic of resting players falls flat on its arse when we now have another game on Tuesday with the risk of first team players picking up knocks before Scarborough.

Really disappointing and hopefully taken more seriously on Tuesday night.

    Is there any positives ?

I am really worried the club will be gone in next couple of years. Talk of paying £40k fee out for a forward. That’s stupid cash. The board are giving this “investor” the red carpet but the fans seen worried. I guess it will be rail roaded through a vote on Oct 1st.

Cheers for your advice, just hope enough at the club listen.

Feels like turkey’s voting for Christmas!!

You mentioned before that the supporters get a vote, is that to elect him on the board ?

If so, At the very least push for a delay in the vote for the board to carry out some due diligence, there’s plenty of information out there now about him
    Now.

Wish you the best of luck; visited Matlock a few months back and the ground is in a cracking location with one of the best in the country for a football ground .

Keep us informed with how things turn out.

    A convicted fraudster

Pulled funding one month into a new season whilst signing players on extortionate contracts in the summer. Staff and players left without pay.

Lots of unsavoury stuff behind the scenes that I’ll avoid putting into black & White on here but can be easily found on social media. Perhaps message the following on Twitter:
    Kieran McGuire
    Matt Slater
    Lower League Look,
There’s also a lengthy thread with many of his shenanigans by an Iron fan called Matt Ellis, he will oblige to share.

My advice would be to avoid all costs.

Did hear whispers towards the end of Hilton’s tenure he was advised not to attend home games, subsequently he missed the last two ( Buxton annd Brackley think) when emotions were running high.

Embarrassment of a bloke who hopefully won’t be seen at GP again.

One of those days, created enough to win 3 games. Mixture of resolute defending, bad luck, and just not being clinical enough: another day we score 4.

Centre mid is still not right for me, I think Clunan is still playing far too close to the centre backs and leaving big gaps in the middle, often from the second ball their number 17 had acres of space to break into. Nicholson was due a bad at the office, as was Whitehall who should’ve done better with those headers

Positives to take once the dust settles: Roberts for me is looking more dangerous by the game in that number 10 position, the wing backs are also 10/20 yards higher further up the pitch and thus creating more. We are leaving ourselves more vulnerable as was proven by Warrington’s chances, but I’d rather seeing us taking the game to a opposition rather than passing it around the backline constantly.

    Another good turnout too.

Liking Barrows a lot this season. Just a thought – as good a player as Ogle is – was part of his appeal to do with mullet wigs and affability?

What a ball that was for Beestin btw for his goal against kiddy- more of that please

Agreed Cass, often saw last year that when we scored early it often resulted in their game plan going right out the window. Concentration levels have to remain high and not take anything for granted; Tidy up on the passing especially and we are due to give someone a good hammering.

It’s commendable how they put together such well organised sides on gates of 2-300 home fans.

I did see last week one of their directors expressing his frustration that they can’t attract more supporters, it will always be a struggle in such a saturated area for teams though with Ashton itself having 2 .

Was a tough watch at times, passing far too sloppy and the midfield looked quite disjointed for me. Number 7 (Ricketts?), Hayhurst annd Spencer are players worth keeping an eye on as we often struggled with them.

Nevertheless, This team don’t know when they’re beat, massive credit to their determination to see the result through. Butler got it right with the subs aswell, faultless start

They were our kryptonite last year, really struggled to get any momentum in our play against them. Remember their striker doing a number on us during the home game.

Saw something the other day about how the prize money has barely risen in years, especially down at the bottom of the pyramid.

Getting the first round proper has to be the aim, financially important yes, but there’s always a great buzz about a cup run, something we’ve lacked recently

Loved everything about that tonight: everybody putting bodies on the line and showing some real quality in both boxes. Kiddy looked a good outfit and credit to them for coming to play and win the game, just thought we had too much for them when we stepped it up at points.

Atmosphere superb aswell- would like to see Friday games happening once or twice a season.
