Windsor Davies?
Lovely boys?
In common with bringing in a couple of new signings this could depend on being able to move some out making room in the budget for improved offers.
Dales better than Hippolyte based on the little I’ve seen of both of them.
Would be good to shift a few to make room for a couple that might improve us but I would expect that to be difficult. If we can send back Cordner & Vincent that would be a start and it’s hard to see how Butroid, Hornshaw, Hippolyte, Turan & Olomola are going to get near the match squad. Slim chance of permanent moves for any in January, can we convince any NL (or below) clubs that taking them on loan would improve their team?Yes plenty of credit due as he can be seen to be learning and, as BRI says, has shown flexibility in his approach.
Just a shame he doesn’t read Bru, he’d have got it right sooner!!Just to think that a couple of weeks ago people were calling for his head, mind blowing!
Think your memory’s playing tricks Cliffy. There was plenty of (justified) criticism of some of his selections and tactics but I don’t remember any calls for a replacement.
How could I forget!!
I spent some time with young Swann about 3 years ago. He told me that he “had an eye for a player”. I asked him to let me have some names for the future. He gave me 5, none whom have ever made the grade (nor are likely to).
Let’s have a guess, were 4 of those 5 names Dom Vose, Johnny Margetts, Clayton Lewis and Andy Dales?
Has it anything to do with the quality of players wearing the kit do you think?
Having said that I agree with BS regarding visibility for spectators and I do like the white kit.Quotes from the manager on the new scout:-
“He’s going to be helping me pick the first team players, then he’s going to be helping Russ (Wilcox) with the under-23s and helping Tony Daws in restructuring everything at the football club.”
“ He knows characters, he’s been around this industry for a long, long time”
Incredible and he’s only 23!! Let’s hope those young whippersnappers Wilcox and Daws feel the same.
Won’t be coming back, we got 10 players for his salary!!
They reportedly have 3 of their regular back four missing and only have 3 fit defenders available.
If this is true then we’ll never have a better chance to attack a team!
Still expecting Bedeau at LB so we can go 3 CBs if we fluke the first goal.No decision until January according to Cox. Waiting to see if we can send Vincent back maybe?
CBRP – No, almost certainly not.
Heath – Agreed.I see Max Bell has given his take on this in the ST. Did he choose that picture of “Jacob Bedeau” do you think?
The line has been cast!
4-4-2 and everybody is comfortable, understands the system and their job. Last night there were 3 or 4 that didn’t seem to know where they were supposed to be playing and a couple more that knew their job but not how to do it.
If Rowe didn’t play because he needed resting then why did Beestin, Brown and Spence start, all of them looked as if they needed a rest. Not blaming the players for this, the schedule is punishing, but not handled well by the management IMO.Another one having his head turned??
Absolutely un*******believable Jeff!!!!!
Now a must-win game for the manager, nothing else will justify that selection. Will we have enough shots to score 2?
Loft – scored, KVV – scored, Hallam – scored, McAtee – scored, Eisa – scored, Olomola – scored.
The number of forwards scoring is not a problem, the number of scoring by the forwards is.
CM yet to open their account.Encouraging PS to offer him a new contract maybe?
Seems strange to have Championship clubs looking at a player who’s not a regular starter in a bottom 3 L2 side.Chicken and egg Cass – who’s going to make the run if they know the cross won’t come?
But Saturday’s performance was really disappointing.
Two fair points.
No – we’ve seen enough.
Little point going on the outside and getting a cross in if we only have one in the box as usual. As there’s seldom anybody in front of him to pass to either the shot is really his only option. If he scores 20 a season doing that he’ll be OK.
Give over!
The writing was on the wall in a recent Cox interview where he said that he and Olomola had different views on where he played. Not absolutely word for word what Cox said but something like “play where I tell you or don’t play at all.”
Just shows (again) how we see things differently. I’m with WG on this in thinking that Gilliead is much more suited to a wide role. He puts maximum effort into both positions but is more effective from wide IMO. We saw last night how dangerous we can be getting the ball forward quickly to an attacker instead of p*****g about side to side which we’ve seen too much of lately. Let Beestin and Spence break up play and give the ball to Gilliead, Eisa, KVV or Loft and let them do what they do best. Green on against tiring legs for 20/30 minutes would do for me. (Maybe Hippolyte too if he shows some form) Positive subs for a change instead of the extra defender(s).
McAtee certainly needs to up his game if he wants to play. Looks like a fit KVV is first choice 10 and maybe McAtee thinks he should be and is sulking. He needs to realise, and quickly, that Hallam, Taylor and Olomola all want to play that role and if KVV is sidelined by injury he’s still not a certain starter. He has the ability but does he have the desire?
Agree with Ferrite, we don’t need more long term injuries due to “too much too soon”. We have to make use of this inflated squad without weakening the team too much. I don’t think Tues/Sat/Tues/Sat is feasible even for fully fit pro footballers. (Keepers aside maybe) KVV on the bench ready for 20 minutes if we have a chance of getting something from the game and ready to start on Saturday.
Always thought it was strange that KK never showed the same level of support that Ray & Ian did. Has his reasons I suppose.
Sad to lose Ray, a true gent indeed. -
