There was a post further up regarding high earners at the club which are biting into the budget. Evans for instance could easily be moved on for two cheaper players and he wouldn’t be too much of a miss.

Evans signed a new 2 year deal in June so his wage will be within the new budget constraints surely.

I’m saying give Butler time, in the main because he’s a relatively new manager and is still learning and developing.

Is he though? I don’t want a change of manager, I want him to learn and develop.

This is what I find hard to understand. Butler wants to play with WBs, we didn’t have any when he took over and we didn’t sign any. So we have 3 FBs trying to be WBs and 3CMs that barely get a look in. Makes the recruitment seem even more bizarre, was 3-5-2 not the recruiters plan?

Luckily we’re still in pole position.
With two thirds of the season still to go, we can recruit, regroup, reorganise and stamp our authority on the league.

We’ve already had 3 months to do all those things. We’ve stamped our authority on the league far less often than we should have and done b….. all about the first 3. How much longer do we wait?

We had watched Radcliffe, we knew what to expect but still couldn’t/didn’t deal with it. We allowed them to play to their strengths and ignored ours. We have no midfield muscle to deal with this kind of opponent, midfield bruiser (not Evans) instead of a CB required, possibly alongside Brogan if the opposition merits it.

For the Club they can, but 4,000 to 1 (5) is persuasive as (as far as we know) only representatives of the 4,000 post on here.

No, not one or the other, just priorities. There are about 4,000 fans that will choose players first and one owner (+board) for whom a CEO is a desperate need to lighten their load. Both needs are fully understandable but the 4,000 will see more benefit from new players hence the bias.

Only found this so far, which will be good, bad, or bearable:

Well you got that right. Better than nothing is the highest praise I can give. Never heard so many “sanctions” in a football commentary.

According to the Radcliffe guy on the Iron hour podcast they wont be intimidated , no way will they come and defend it will be all out attack with each player trying to win their individual battles on the pitch .. so we might be in for a cracker of a game ..
    0-0 its is then 5555555

Hope the score’s wrong IFA, bit ambitious with the crowd I reckon!!

I fear you could be right,(not the KVV bit) but not cheaply I hope, should be a record fee for a NLN player. (No doubt Rene will advise the current record.)

It’s a forum to express opinions which may or may not differ. Can we agree on that?

Yes, you said ‘some of you’ but then twisted comments that I had made which, to my mind, made it specific.
It’s a platform for opinions and discussion, if we all thought the same the forum would die very quickly.

Correct. Look to win every game, we won’t but in this league, with the players we have, it’s worth a try. Just a question and my opinion of course, no need for thinly disguised abuse is there?

Thinly disguised abuse? Nonsense. Merely exasperated how some of you continue to criticise and nitpick even under the best ownership we’ve had for donkeys, top of the league having just won 6-0. Fine to suggest Butler isn’t brave, whinge about appointing a CEO like it’s unheard of by a football club and complain that anyone who shows some exasperation is abusing? Yeah, right.

No need to post 3 times to make a point surely.
Firstly I have not criticised the new owners, I think they’re doing a great job. I merely expressed an opinion which differs from yours.
Secondly I never accused Butler of not being brave, I asked a question.
Thirdly I did not whinge about appointing a CEO, I expressed an opinion that players would be my priority.
No nitpicking here just using the forum for what I assumed was its purpose.

Still don’t like 3 CBs but what a difference it makes playing the WBs further forward, 2 up top and Beestin in MF. Shows much more attacking intent, is Butler brave enough to try it in away games?

From memory (not necessarily the most reliable) he passed forward 4 times and found an opponent with 3 of them. His sideways and backwards are largely faultless. His pointing immaculate. His 1 shot is best forgotten.

” I know we are under serious financial constraints and I understand why but prioritising a CEO over players I do not understand. ”
Haven’t we just spent the summer recruiting players?
So hardly prioritising a CEO is it?
We still have the spine of last year which failed us ,same pointless/pointing captain and ridiculous child up front . We cannot sack them and only have so much budget, thankfully a few overpaid players left .We could attempt to buy the league and fail like awaywego’s mate did and let the club rot.

Summer recruitment provided 1 regular starter and, as you point out, we therefore have mainly last years first XI. If promotion is the aim (and we all hope it is) then do we have the players to achieve that, they didn’t last year. So it’s not hard to argue that additions are required to achieve that and we are told that funds are available, how many points will the CEO win us?
