Didn’t mention the MOM! Brogan was given a chance and took it, if he doesn’t start the next game then it’s clearly jobs for the boys. Could be why one or two have a “can’t be arsed today I’ll be in next week anyway and I might feel more like it then” attitude.
How come “the fittest team in the NLN” couldn’t steamroller a team of part-timers in the last half hour?
Why are we still making the same mistakes week after week when “we know where we have to be better”?

He’s tried Barrows, Kelly, Scales and now Brogan at RWB. He’s used Denton and Kelly at LWB. He insists that WBs are part of his system but has not yet realised HE DOESN’T HAVE ANY!!!!

If Schofield has a different system in mind and hasn’t shared that with Butler then he is a waste of space. If he has suggested it to Butler and has been ignored then he is an even bigger waste of space.

It’s pre-match optimism, by 5.00 I’ll probably agree with you.

If he gets 10 I’d be delighted.
!5 from Whitehall, 15 Roberts, 10 Williams, 10 Carlton and 20 from everybody else and we should be OK.

No doubt Max Bell will call him “Bottesford.” How long before he gets him to join his campaign?

Will AB pick a potential first team though?

Unless he’s gone backwards along way in ability at least he can pass a ball. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him replace Roberts, (going for a fee in Jan no doubt) now he’s proved his fitness

I fear you may be right. My other worry is that, in order to match or get near to his (estimated) wages, any buying club will not want to pay much, if anything. We might let him go on a free just to reduce the wage bill. I don’t suppose we’d meet his minimum wage requirement and give him a new contract?

SST (information usually sound) reports on another thread that Luke Williams and Mark Beck are the two players we’re after. I can’t see that improving the current system as neither are WBs or CDs so my wildly optimistic hope is that this could bring change. How about a 4-1-3-2 with 3 from Roberts Williams Beestin and Carlton behind Beck and Whitehall?
    I’ll get me coat!

Does that suggest his recommendations were given preference over managers choices?

Over the last 2 seasons I seem to remember many/most teams that played above themselves against us suffered defeat in their next match.

How certain are we that it is Luke Williams? WG says he’s been training with us for 6 weeks so either we’re not sure about him or he’s been injured for 5 of them. Can’t believe there’s been no positive sighting mentioned in that time. He certainly doesn’t fit mistertonmick’s description of the mystery man that he spotted.

Politicians should always be impartial. Referees can be gobshites and biased.

You deliberately got those the wrong way round didn’t you?

As somebody said earlier, what harm can come if an initial 1 month loan is agreed. If he’s an improvement and plays regularly it benefits both clubs to extend. If he’s AB’s pick, not a Youmbi, then surely minimum risk and limited outlay. Would still prefer permanent signings but we’ll have to get what we can. (As long as they’re better than what we have)

“a Buxton team that is now undefeated in six matches after worrying their fans by losing seven of the previous eight NLN fixtures. This remarkable reversal of form coincided with the arrival of talented Leeds United loanee Cian Coleman”

Will ours have a similar effect if and when he/they finally arrive?

He can’t win in this game.
If he plays the ‘stiffs’ and we get shafted then he’ll get slaughtered.
If he plays the usual suspects and we win then some will say he should have rested them and give the squad players game time.
    Hiding to nothing!

If we win he’ll be OK, maybe a few “constructive observations” If we lose he’ll get slaughtered.

Could it be a defining match ?
Will the new signings play ?

Maybe the new players will allow him to play a different formation. Let’s see who they are but surely an opportunity to slot them into the team and make an impact.
He might also give Brogan a start and remember Rowley but it’s a game we need to win.

We must not forget that this is a time when budgets are low and the goal is still not promotion.
Andy is just a full-time manager in his first year. He still has a lot to learn about tactics. For now, he still has to use tactics that are suitable for the players with the budget.

A couple of bits from your post that I have to challenge.
    1. The board have stated that promotion is the aim.
    2. A major issue recognised by many is that he does not have the players for the system he uses. “he still has to use tactics that are suitable for the players with the budget.” That’s all we’re asking for.

    The Board have done brilliantly.
    Supporters have responded superbly.
The management and players are some way short of both.

Unfortunately not, we have to rely on him reading Bru and taking notice.
    Iron Bru for assistant manager?

Don’t go. Learn, embrace change. You’re not necessarily wrong (though it’s fine to admit you are, ask Mrs CT) and 5-3-2 might sometimes be the best option – but not always, especially when it’s blindingly obvious that it’s not. i.e. surely never at home. Come on, most want you to succeed but you have to help yourself to be successful and that means admitting you’ve made mistakes and learning from them.

My spies are also suggesting Luke Williams.

What’s the logic in signing a former player whose career has been blighted with reoccurring injury, haven’t we been down that road enough in the past?

Doesn’t look to have been injured much the last few years playing in Iceland. Captain now too

    Wiki would suggest otherwise:-
    2015–2018 Scunthorpe United 37 (5)
    2017 → Northampton Town (loan) 8 (0)
    2018–2021 Hartlepool United 11 (0)
    2021–2022 Gateshead 1 (1)
    2022– Víkingur 31 (12)

Echoing WGs post. Signed Brogan, Rowley, Fishburn and Shrimpton and doesn’t often pick them (never picks them if no injuries) and Braithwaite on a dual basis. Rowley, Brogan and Nicholson were from teams now in a higher division so presumably weren’t cheap. Wouldn’t two good enough to be regular starters have been better tha five that, in AB’s opinion, aren’t?
He wants WBs but didn’t sign any.
