He benched a player that’s been among our best recently and failed to start the best replacement for Roberts, so it’s not true to suggest he’s got nothing else.

Won us a point on Tuesday.
I thought it was arses and elbows that caused confusion.
The problem, as I see it, is that AB always says “we have done us homework”. What that seems to mean is “we have seen how the opposition play” and we then set up to match them and play their game. Unfortunately today they played with 1 up top and we had 3 to mark him and our 2 in midfield had to cope with 5. After 80 minutes AB & JS still hadn’t noticed>
Telling us that because we’ve got Beck doesn’t mean we’re going to play hoof ball but then plays hoof ball to Beck for 90mins.
And just to confirm the “no hoof ball” claim he signs another 6’+ forward.

3 big lads up front but nobody to cross the ball for them! Puzzling.

After 3 games unbeaten without conceding a goal?

Or his agent?
I agree with much of what you say but to expect a manager to say that his team are performing at 100% would invite ridicule. Perhaps “there are still things to work on” might have been better. AB’s regular “we know where we have to be better” is the one that annoys me more as we never seem to get better, accurate passing, as you say, is one of the main areas. A basic for a professional footballer you’d think.

I fear it’s in Roberts position after January.

We didn’t concede 3 though.
I thought the first half was OK, second half poor. A point won by Fitz alone. Serious shooting practice required before Saturday Andy, no shots on target in the 90+ minutes is unacceptable. Yet, if two players had hit the target with chances you’d reasonably expect them to score then we could have come away with a totally undeserved 3 points.

I don’t often disagree with Cass but …
Hence my opening sentence les.
And in %age terms ? vs 100.
Football!! The place where people watching the same thing see things differently .
100%er certainly Togwell, but fell into the “run around a lot but seldom made any meaningful contribution” category. A more talented Terry Barwick. (Be hard not to be really!!)TwoWrights, you are thinking of the Golden Era when we scored nearly 400 home league goals in ten seasons, when we were the envy of every other small league club in the country, had great F A Cup memories and thrilling football to boot. That was the era you were thinking about!
Still less than 2 goals per home game bill. No big deal really.

We’re not entitled to success, and clubs across the country regularly get it wrong. Including among those with high budgets for their level. I think some perspective is needed, instead of constant melodrama.
Not entitled to success no, but we have the tools to be successful at the level we’re at. As for clubs getting it wrong, we are and, I think, as fans we’re entitled to point that out. ( Calls for sacking going a bit too far at the moment IMO but he’s on very thin ice and has to respond quickly.)

Well Nicholson, Maxi and Boyce all started so, unless somebody is playing out of position, probably not.
Maybe Russ has learned from his mistakes? Absolutely nothing wrong with a manager changing his tactics to improve results.
I knew a post like this (not necessarily from you) was incoming.
Happy to oblige.

Butler had the last say on all transfers so not all Turnbull’s fault. Recruitment still been crap though for some time now.
I think Michelle said AB HAS the final say, possibly implying that he didn’t whrn LT was here?

Pity it’s not as easy to terminate managers and players contracts. Would have saved us a fortune over the last few years.
IMO the players are good enough if they are played to utilse their strengths in their regular positions. The only success playing in an unfamiliar role has been Roberts.
And therein lies the problem IFA, or at least part of it IMO. A “must pick” captain with a one dimensional game that’s too slow for the way AB says he wants to play.

A KUTA from the board, fair enough, but I wouldn’t want to see them advising on football matters.
Anyway if AB doesn’t listen to Bru he’s not likely to take any notice of the board.1 user thanked author for this post.
Just listened to the RH post match interview. Pleased to hear Ollie Turner ask a few more difficult questions than James Moody. The big finish was “we are not too far from where we want to be”, if AB thinks that then we’re in real trouble. In terms of performance we’re miles away from where we need to be to win this league.
Fitzsimons
Barrows Maxi Boyce Kelly
Roberts Brogan Beestin Carlton
Whitehall Beck (up to Williams to displace Beestin, Whitehall or Beck)
Would do for me, still plenty for a decent bench as well.1 user thanked author for this post.
I still think the 3 CBs causes the problem if the 3 are not experienced in the system. 3 CBs marking 2 forwards allows for the “one of the others will mark him” option often leading to unmarked opponents left to score. Sound familiar?
