Little point going on the outside and getting a cross in if we only have one in the box as usual. As there’s seldom anybody in front of him to pass to either the shot is really his only option. If he scores 20 a season doing that he’ll be OK.

The writing was on the wall in a recent Cox interview where he said that he and Olomola had different views on where he played. Not absolutely word for word what Cox said but something like “play where I tell you or don’t play at all.”

Just shows (again) how we see things differently. I’m with WG on this in thinking that Gilliead is much more suited to a wide role. He puts maximum effort into both positions but is more effective from wide IMO. We saw last night how dangerous we can be getting the ball forward quickly to an attacker instead of p*****g about side to side which we’ve seen too much of lately. Let Beestin and Spence break up play and give the ball to Gilliead, Eisa, KVV or Loft and let them do what they do best. Green on against tiring legs for 20/30 minutes would do for me. (Maybe Hippolyte too if he shows some form) Positive subs for a change instead of the extra defender(s).

McAtee certainly needs to up his game if he wants to play. Looks like a fit KVV is first choice 10 and maybe McAtee thinks he should be and is sulking. He needs to realise, and quickly, that Hallam, Taylor and Olomola all want to play that role and if KVV is sidelined by injury he’s still not a certain starter. He has the ability but does he have the desire?

Agree with Ferrite, we don’t need more long term injuries due to “too much too soon”. We have to make use of this inflated squad without weakening the team too much. I don’t think Tues/Sat/Tues/Sat is feasible even for fully fit pro footballers. (Keepers aside maybe) KVV on the bench ready for 20 minutes if we have a chance of getting something from the game and ready to start on Saturday.

Always thought it was strange that KK never showed the same level of support that Ray & Ian did. Has his reasons I suppose.
Sad to lose Ray, a true gent indeed.

    It’s an easy game really:-
    Best players in
    Best positions using
A simple system they all understand and are suited to.
    More of the same please.

Our last 8 or 9 keepers have shown no desire to leave their line, even those that did so when they arrived. Spot the common denominator.

I think you’re being a bit harsh on some of these lads WG. Loft scored one absolute blinder and another decent finish so he’s got some ability and Cox has seen much more of Hippolyte than we have. Regarding Turan, don’t forget how long it took KVV before he showed what he could do. No guarantees they’ll make the grade but I think it would be wise to give them a bit longer before we give up.

When I saw the title I thought he was going to tell us how much it had cost to dismiss each manager.

I don’t think playing yet another player out of position is the answer.

Better than signing another player or sacking another manager which seem to be the other options being suggested?
Also, it gets him out of centre back where he’s not been great. Sometimes a player’s given position is not his best position.

    So Watson up front then?

” it is up to the Chairman to appoint someone that can do the job, he does not do this.”

Depends on what you think ‘the job’ is barton. If the job is to do as you’re told and do your best with the players you’re given then he seems to be getting it right.

Has there ever been a more pointless match?

Result might be meaningless but being able to give match time to players that need it is a great opportunity for us to prepare for Saturday. Another steady 30-40 minutes for KVV could set him up for a start against Oldham for instance.

No judgement for today. Was poor but reasonably no one could expect anything else.
Pointless game today and pointless game Tuesday. Neither game matters.
Get as many minutes as possible safely into the players that need them and start again from Saturday.

Agree almost 100% (Yesterdays game was worth £20K so it mattered a bit)
Still think our “best” eleven played in a “proper” formation will be good enough to get us through this if we can get them all on the pitch together on a regular basis.

Do we have a nominated penalty taker on the off chance that we get one? Can’t remember having one since Josh Morris left!

Not in danger at the minute IMO. He’s been dealt a sh1t hand but must have known that before he accepted the job. Given a box of 30 Lego bricks, all from different sets, and told to make something that resembles a football team from the oddments.
Who sang “Things Can Only Get Better”? Let’s hope they were right.
