More like very dark glasses! This is a Holloway quote from the Telegraph:-

“We got the result, and it was a good performance as well, so double delight from a really desperate situation,” Holloway said.

Were we watching the same game? If that’s the kind of “good” performance he’s hoping for then they’re in trouble, they don’t play us every week.

I think that’s how it works, maybe why sacked managers don’t rush to get another job until their paid-up contract is running out.

You have to be careful with these experienced/old players. Remember Craig Davies, Tommy Johnson, Geoff Horsfield, Ian Ormondroyd et al. More recently James Perch didn’t have many fans on here.
Beagrie might be the only exception.

There’s a bloke with Fishy connections looking to invest in a football club. Would you like him?

I hardly think what we saw on Saturday could be classed as “elite sport”
The bar must be set very low, I think I could be an elite golfer.

He’s scored a couple of goals that very few Iron strikers would have netted. Agree with les & DSGM that he has potential and his shortcomings can be overcome.

A good example of most of our players – can be good but only 1 game in 4 or 5. All of them have had at least one good game which gives you hope, then just when you get optimistic – THIS!!

Pointless even attempting to have a sensible discussion, quite frankly.

Well it’s pointless having a discussion with you as you clearly don’t read other posts!

“It’s the same old, same old. Everyone who voted Brexit is a racist ……….”

Nobody said that, MKIron clarified the situation above in case anybody misunderstood. Regarding my earlier post do you deny:-
The value of the pound dropped due to Brexit
The haulage industry is in chaos due to Brexit
Just two examples, your examples of benefits are still awaited.

It could be a coincidence but we don’t need to score 3 to win since Howard came. He has also played behind Rowe, Onarise, Bedeau and O’Malley – not a lot of league experience there. Seen little or no improvement in Watson for 3 seasons, will he get any better now? Certainly agree that GK coaching needs looking at. Howard a big improvement IMO.

The masses knew what they were voting for!! I don’t think so. They voted leave to stop immigration with no thought (or knowledge) of other possible consequences. Still to meet a leave voter who doesn’t give that as their prime reason. Plenty now moaning about the weak pound making their holidays more expensive (not this year obviously) and I doubt the haulage industry was expecting what they’re getting now.

@Cassidystash Hard to argue that the team selected against Southend wasn’t the best available surely 🤣🤣

Have we made a new signing or am i missing something. I’m sure most of us would agree that the starting 11 at southend was the strongest available.

Hard to argue that the team selected against Southend wasn’t the best available surely. Could it be that a safety first attitude (first target – don’t lose) was to blame, but failing to hit the target didn’t help.

Don’t like losing but losing after playing well is almost OK. Agree with much of the above, first XI is good enough but we are seriously lacking in backup in several areas which we need with the playing schedule forced on everybody.

Fair comment les, maybe I was a bit harsh. Thinking about it he was also being asked to convert to LWB to fit the Cox system at the time. If he’s given a chance in his real position he might be OK, Cox has clearly seen ability as he was keen to sign him.

In common with bringing in a couple of new signings this could depend on being able to move some out making room in the budget for improved offers.

Dales better than Hippolyte based on the little I’ve seen of both of them.
Would be good to shift a few to make room for a couple that might improve us but I would expect that to be difficult. If we can send back Cordner & Vincent that would be a start and it’s hard to see how Butroid, Hornshaw, Hippolyte, Turan & Olomola are going to get near the match squad. Slim chance of permanent moves for any in January, can we convince any NL (or below) clubs that taking them on loan would improve their team?

Yes plenty of credit due as he can be seen to be learning and, as BRI says, has shown flexibility in his approach.
Just a shame he doesn’t read Bru, he’d have got it right sooner!!

Just to think that a couple of weeks ago people were calling for his head, mind blowing!

Think your memory’s playing tricks Cliffy. There was plenty of (justified) criticism of some of his selections and tactics but I don’t remember any calls for a replacement.

I spent some time with young Swann about 3 years ago. He told me that he “had an eye for a player”. I asked him to let me have some names for the future. He gave me 5, none whom have ever made the grade (nor are likely to).

Let’s have a guess, were 4 of those 5 names Dom Vose, Johnny Margetts, Clayton Lewis and Andy Dales?

Has it anything to do with the quality of players wearing the kit do you think?
Having said that I agree with BS regarding visibility for spectators and I do like the white kit.
