” Mussy should be able to correct glaring mistakes”
But how long will it take him Brian? He’s not made much progress so far, are we looking for Rory to peak in his 30’s?
It’s not us you need to convince but the defenders in front of him.But yeah Goode never showed any signs of potential here, his hoofball style suits Northampton though, confirmed by him charging upfield to take every throw.
Clearly Brentford see him differently.
Wrong thread?
Rory Delap made the Premier League with little ability apart from being able to throw the ball a long way.OK WG I’ll try and explain. I watched him play for The Iron and didn’t think he was good enough. IMO he was L2 at best but I accept he could have improved and you’ve obviously seen that at Northampton. I’m basing my opinion in what I saw in our shirt.
As forgotten says, hindsight is a wonderful thing.Good answer mick – thanks.
“Ask Mr Swann Why was Goode not good enough for our Team”
If you’d watched him you’d’ve answered your own question.
and we have a decent sell on according to Charlie Wilson.
Interesting that Charlie “knows” when the ST seem to get little info from the club?
Also I’m in the same camp as DSGM, do you have enough humble pie to go round in case we need it?Quite agree, playing PL tactics with L2 players can never work.
In response to les’s posts:-
“Do we need a CM? – How can we know?
Too many players we know so very little about and that also includes Hallam, to a degree.
Spence? Vincent?
Dunno.” And:-
“Gilliead has so many skills – no reason why he may not become the pivot of this team.”I have seen Spence and Vincent described as ‘slight’ and as Gilliead and Hallam aren’t exactly muscular I still feel we might need a bit of enforcement in CM. It’s L2 after all.
Have to agree with vader (partly)
A couple more signings – yes please.
Passion in the dugout – long overdue.
Listening to what the punters want – mmmmmm.Could be tricky this. If KVV plays off a target man then what do you do with McAtee?
Could be a “net” 5 in though, so 8 in and 3 out is a possibility. Do we have 3 we can shift though? (Three that we can do without that is.) Colclough? Olomola? Dales?
“Shame we have to guess on that front due to there not being any bloody information about upcoming friendly matches.”
Understandable WG, they can’t risk 5,000 Iron fans turning up wanting to watch.
“Same as his number from last year isn’t it Cass?”
Can’t remember Ferrite, but if it is then I’m wrong again! Thanks for pointing that out, are you Mrs CT in disguise? Good job I included being wrong as a possibility.
MacAtee is #9 (4+5=9)
Olomola has Sharp’s #24
So all good then!Don’t like McAtee at 45, looks suspiciously like a ‘token’ number that’s unlikely to be used. Hope I’m wrong (not unusual) and not just a cynical old b*****d.
Numbers would suggest there are ins and outs still to come.“we would have to remember that he was never very good at coming off his line for crosses.”
Haven’t you spotted the common denominator? Every keeper coached by Mussy does the same thing, I think he must tie their legs to the goalposts during coaching sessions!!
Just so I’m clear on this – if a player is cr4p (and we’ve had a few lately) and I shout “******* you’re cr4p” is that abuse or a statement of fact?
Experienced ‘keeper as well on a 2 for 1 deal?
All of it well deserved, see MK Iron above for the reason why!!
Not a pleasant individual IMO.I think Daz would be in budget, not sure about Blackmore.
Let’s hope he grows in stature and regularly raises his game.
” Mistakes are part of the learning process and should be accepted.”
Experience is learning from your mistakes, wisdom is learning from somebody else’s mistakes. (CT c1995 to his offspring)
Neil is not experienced but could have wisdom, let’s hope so.Good advice les, let’s hope Peter takes notice. (Sorry, did I write Peter? Of course I meant Neil.)
Understand your thoughts ironking but here’s an alternative view. An experienced manager will, understandably, have several sackings on his CV along with, hopefully, some successes. Whilst sackings are regular occurances they usually involve a generous payoff. Knowing our recent record don’t we risk somebody experienced in these matters coming in with a ‘don’t care’ attitude just waiting for his big pay day? Personally I’d rather have somebody with a desire to succeed and make a career as a manager.
Look, I don’t like to see anybody lose their job but these are exceptional times and it’s happening. My point? We have 2 GK coaches for 3 GKs and our number 1 has been here over 3 years and is still not up to L2 standard.
Conclusions:-
1. We are overstaffed.
2. The coaches are ineffective.
3. Some people never learn.
Harsh? Maybe, but times are tough at the moment. Thanks walt, 2 areas.
Yep, another 21 y.o. Who knows, with 4 or 5 keen to move up the league ladder and 5 or 6 keen to establish themselves as league footballers we could be dangerous. It’s a while since we fielded a team where all the players were keen.
(Still one area of concern for me though!!)Frank Vincent
American football player
Born: October 12, 1932 (age 87 years)Is this him ferrite, certainly will provide the experience we’re lacking.
I’m assuming ‘realistic’ suggestions only so I’m not starting with Nige.
1. Crozzer
2. Sir Clifford
A. Slade, Cook, Hill, JolleyMy view from an earlier thread:-
Well we seem to have signed players that may have potential but lack experience, very much as expected. But the mix is something of a surprise, if we go with 2 up front we have a choice of KVV, McAtee, Green, Olomola, Jarvis and Mooney. Seems like a bit of overkill as we still have only 1 CM, unless Beestin, Hornshaw, Pugh or Hallam are considered up to the job, haven’t seen enough of any of them to pass judgement. Maybe a little more movement in and out?
As for ” Lewis Butroid this will almost be a great season for Lewis.” have you missed a word out Brian? I fear, based on recent experience, that he might be behind Bedeau for the LB spot. Hope not.So you don’t fancy it then Mr Cox? Thanks for letting us know!!
