If my analysis is correct there are a few aged fans who frequent Iron-Bru but the most vitriolic fans who appear to be younger and can’t spell very well frequent Twitter, Facebook and SnapChat.

I agree, social media is a really toxic place and a few keyboard warriors stirring the brown stuff may unsettle him. Probably good to include Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat and the worst of the worst for gossip Iron-Bru.
Humberside is on the naughty step which leaves Scunthorpe United web. Will be interesting to see after the Nelson fiasco how long it will be before vitriolic comments filter in to everyday dialogue.

At face value and in the context of the whole supporter group meeting this announcement doesn’t amount to much. Either pay interest on the loan or rent. If and it is a big if, Swann decides to leave and put the club on the market a rent paid by the new owner would be the best solution. However, if he decided to sell and required the loans repaid it would take a new owner with very deep pockets. (HCAFC scenario). As a community based stadium paying a rent would be okay, perhaps North Lincs Council would see merit in this (yeah right, over to you ARW).

Sadly IMO if Swann wants out the most likely scenario is to sell the ground and surrounding area to a developer, Coolsilk perhaps). Unless Iron-Bru could cobble together a consortium and buy the asset and pay off the loans. Pigs did fly in my previous business so who knows?

As an Iron fan who doesn’t post on here very often now. Perhaps this thread is one of the reasons.

You also have to remember if you spend most of the game at the other end of the pitch instead of crammed inside your own penalty area there is less chance you will concede.

Regarding the goal it was good work and passing between Vincent and Jarvis which set up McAtee for the goal, and it was good to see Rory Watson keep a clean sheet for the time he was on the pitch.

You are coming round to my way of thinking Mick. Clearly if you spend most of the time in the attacking 3rd there is less chance of conceding.
Aren’t most goals achieved by good passages of play, however, McAtee took it well when many strikers (we know who they are) would have skied it over the stand. In addition if that goal was against us you would have blamed Watson or Kelsey for one of their weaknesses.

Please re-read Cox quote re clean sheets!

Football forums are for the sharing of views on the football club, which should allow for criticism. If a player cannot handle being criticised in the online sphere he should stay off the forum. We shouldn’t be expected to hide our views in case it hurts the feelings of those who have no need to be on the forum.

I agree with so many of the comments re Rory. If we take a look with league 2 V Champions league and the Premier league on the TV there are glaring differences. This is also true comparing league 2 with local footy at Barton, Brigg, Winterton and Bottesford. I do wonder if seeing so much footy on the box has made us all a little over critical. Making reference to a particular situation in a particular game just highlights further how mistakes are remembered for weeks, months and even seasons. If the centre halves are as good as we hope goals difference may favour the goals for rather than against.
It does appear Rory will start between the jumpers and I hope he will be judged by clean sheets and saves rather than the odd (or frequent) mistakes. A striker appears to get away with a shot which ends up on the railway line without undue criticism. Perhaps we can give the keeper the same sort of respect.

Brian the other day he said we are going to play attacking football like Peter Swann confirmed last night and a 4-4-2 formation like they PL ayed against Doncaster and Hull.

That’s it then 4-4-2 until the end of time, or at least to the end of Neil’s stint as manager?

    Doesn’t 3-4-3 indicate attacking intentions?

Why worry about RB or LB, if the centre halves can work together 3 at the back is known to work well. I am sure that is part of Neil’s thinking and would make perfect sense – to me at least.

Cox said that he going to play 4-4-2 the other day Brian.

I wouldn’t expect Neil to decide on formations yet. Horses for courses would be my bet.

Tyler Cordner – another brick in the wall. Cox signing and he has seen him play a lot more than any on here. 3-4-3 perhaps. But who cares he is the tough nut we need.

Great to read your post BS, it is time for a little optimism after recent dealings. As we know there will likely be plenty of opportunity to stick the knife in further into the season.

Ah but its Neil Cox signing him. I don’t give a fig if I have seen him play or not. If Cox believes in him enough to give him a 12 month loan contract I will back him.

Brian, people are questioning the quality of back up we’ve got to push him more than anything. Who’s here to push him, Kelsey ?

Collins won’t put any pressure on as he’s clearly not ready.

Burney, they are not, most keyboard warriors say Watson won’t make a keeper regardless.

Actually I thought the podcast team did a brilliant job. They sorted out the sensible questions and put them into a logical order. Past, present and future. Mr Swann as always was forthright and as honest as most could have excepted. He was clear it is important to stay in the football league. Accepted stability was more likely than top 6. He also plans for the under 23’s to bring through some decent prospects to sell as a way of balancing the books. I have been involved in many board meetings where the discussion was of a much lower standard than we heard tonight. Well done Iron-Bru podcast team, you have gained Mr Swann’s respect. Something other media channels could learn from.

It was first broke by an employee of SET. Charlie somebody, forgot his surname !

Charlie Wilson, he means well. Just being in the right place at the right time was all Charlie needed to fly the Lillis kite. Can’t argue with the accuracy though and like Cox, Lillis was keen to come back as recorded on a Bru podcast.
Patience now for the dream duo to work their magic and lets jump aboard this band wagon for one hell of a ride.

Well another brick in the wall. Neil Cox, 29 years after he left he returns. Not the prodigal son but a guy us older fans can remember. Personally I am delighted, it won’t be easy and we may not hit the ground running but make no mistake under the circumstances Neil is absolutely the right man for the job.
My wish his wing man will be an excellent coach who can mould this young team into an unbeatable unit.
Have the good times returned, time will tell but remember ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day’. Mistakes are part of the learning process and should be accepted. Forget the negatives, put your moans in the bottom drawer and get on the band wagon. If you don’t, in truth, you are not an IRON fan.
LET THE BATTLE COMMENCE. UP THE IRON.

Thanks Darryn, as you say, the Manager becomes important but to avoid duplication I wouldn’t mind a head coach appointment who will be in charge of team affairs. Past managers appear to want to get a number of underlings to reduce their workload while improving their apparent worth to the club. The backroom team is still too big IMO each wanting an assistant and sometimes an assistant for the assistant. This isn’t affordable today and going back to a coach or even a player coach could be a step forward. I welcome others thoughts on what will surely be the pivotal role in the new format.

Now Frank Vincent a centre mid player who comes with ringing endorsements. Mr Swann saving money in non essential areas, using this money wisely to amass a top six squad.

….couldn’t you start off as physio Brian and work your way up?

I used to massage dogs for the Chinese in Kuala Lumpur when I wasn’t business. 100rm for a 30 minute massage – easy money. However, I would probably need to go on a conversion course for humans.

In his interview on the official site he said “I just have to control the controllables, and get focused on taking the opportunity.” Let’s hope he has the same impact at the Club as the last person that said that did.

I heard that and thought of Nigel. He comes with some very positive comments about him from D & R fans. I am excited to see him play.

If the Allam family want to allow the club to fail then unfortunately that is what they will do. It is obvious when the rug is pulled from under the Manager as was the case last January when key players were sold McCann had an impossible task. Gate receipts will continue to diminish and league 1 may become league 2 next season. Debts to service at high interest rates. Premier league and parachute money has long gone. The ground isn’t even owned. Regardless of management Hull has got an uncertain future. Support for McCann and Byrne is more about continuing to pay them and not having to pay their contracts up if they are sacked.
