What a waste of time listening to that podcast. The questions asked were knowhere near direct enough. They were pussyfooting around Swann as if too afraid what his reactions would be. Swanns answers were even worse. The man persistently and intentionally drags out his replies, moves on to something else, to save there being so many questions asked, and never answers what is asked. You’re right he would make a damn good politician. It’s been the same at every forum and we have been to every one of them. He is full of fudge and bluster in my opinion. NOT A CLUE ON HOW TO RUN A FOOTBALL CLUB. The dangerous thing is he believes he is good at it. Unbelievable of him to state that the club is run better and run like a proper club now. WHAT PLANET IS HE ON.

I wasnt just disappointed but disgusted at O’Malley being left out of the team yesterday for the match versus Barrow and not only that he wasnt even included in the squad which travelled. Cox commented when asked about O’Malley that he could only travel 18 players. The only valid reason for his exclusion would be injury and there was no mention of that.
Surely he would not be sold as a rumour on here suggested. If Cox has fallen out with him, another player, then both Swann and Cox should be gone.
When we have been watching the matches on ifollow i have been raving about O’Malley to my husband, who agrees he is an asset to the team, with his crosses from free kick,s and his runs forward up the wing and crosses into the box have earned us goals from the few we have scored. He seems to have the ability to pick players out with the ball. He was missed yesterday against Barrow.
If Swann was even thinking of selling him we are doomed to non-league football and it would prove he has no interest whatsoever in Scunthorpe United continuing as a football league club.
The podcast should be interesting tomorrow evening,, but the questions should be direct and regarding Swann’s intentions with our Club and our league status. The time for lies and flannel is over. Our Club, Scunthorpe United, has held football league status since 1950 and it cannot be permitted for Swann, his scouting son, and wife, who in my opinion have no knowledge on how to successfully run a football league club to destroy this.
Even with the restrictions of covid, there must be some way that we supporters can ensure that our voices are heard and taken note of. Tomorrow night’s podcast is an opportunity for this.
Dont apologise for the rant Ironawe. Its not a rant its pure facts. I agree with absolutely every statement you have made. In my oinion Swann is unfit to run any football league club and him and his family should do the decent thing and sell their shares and leave.
My husband and i have been supporters of our Club since 1958 and my father long before that. This is the worst team i have seen wear Scunthorpe United shirts and this in my opinion is the absolute worst this Club has been run in all that time. The only way it is being run now is into the ground by a Chairman and his family, who in my opinion havent the slightest idea regarding football on and off the pitch. Nor do they understand how to treat supporters with respect and value.
I cannot believe how our Club has gone so downhill since the departure of Steve Wharton, our previous Chairman, during his tenure we had great success with promotions and several trips to Wembley and many good cup-tie runs. When Peter Swann first came here he said Steve Wharton had run the Club as a hobby. Well yes he treated it as his hobby too and went to all home and away matches, always applauded the players off the pitch and his heart was in Scunthorpe United. But also he was a very shrude businessman and wouldnt have allowed us to have the debt hanging over our Club which we have now.
These are very worrying times for Scunthorpe United supporters who value our league status and it shouldnt be allowed for one family to destroy our Club.
I would like to ask Peter Swann. “When you first came and took over our Club Scunthorpe United did you feel that you had something to prove?”
My reply to him will be that well he has certainly done that. He has proved himself unfit to run a football league club.
January 13, 2021 at 3:07 pm in reply to: At what point do we consider the manager is the problem? #200789Who hires the managers? Who fires the managers? Who hires his son as the chief scout? Who scouts and signs players? Who gives false promises? Who makes big mistakes but never learns? Who when he took over OUR CLUB told the current directors they weren’t wanted? Who season after season is dragging OUR CLUB out of the football league. Next big question – Who thinks Swann and his family should go before the previous happens?
It all started to go wrong with our Club when Swann took over our Club with his family board of directors and got rid of all the existing directors, so no difference of opinions on decisions involving the running of our Club and player signings etc. would be allowed. All we have had is false promises and no success! This is my opinion.
Could this be a planned relegation from league football. Its looking a lot like it at present with this plan in place of fielding a team of mostly inexperienced youngsters. This plan was implemented before Neil Cox was appointed and he could be the scapegoat if we are relegated which looks to be what will happen come the end of the season. This is the worst team i have seen playing for our Club over the last 62 years whilst i have been a Scunthorpe United supporter. So this is success is it Mr Swann! What a disgrace.
The problem is that in my opinion we have a Chairman who is all or nothing and now we have nothing. Peter Swann thought he could come into our Club and choose when we would be promoted and coincide it with a new ground being built all in the same season. This talk was so naive. So now that didnt work Swann has decided that we would get rid of all the experienced players which he could, who naturally expect to be on a decent wage, and field a team of mainly under 23 players. Watching the game today on ifollow, being a season ticket holder, i am totally disgusted in the direction which Swann has taken our Club. Neil Cox is just Swann’s puppet. Ive been listening to him on the radio. I believe Cox said we have a squad of 28 players. All our experienced players were moved on by Swann before he came to our Club and the signings made since then have been atrocious so i dont believe Neil Cox can take the blame for the player signings, but i also am not convinced he has the makings of a manager after hearing him on the after match interview. These are my opinions.
