Here you go again uptheiron blaming anyone other than the person who is solely to blame, SWANN. Yes he has hired managers and fired them, and then they have progressed and been ALLOWED to manage other teams and been successful too. That’s because they’ve been allowed to manage, choose their own players and have a voice. Look what happened to Paul Hurst he spoke out on the radio and said he hadn’t been given what had been promised when he came to SUFC. So SWANN sacked him.The team had just started playing much better, but that didn’t matter to SWANN did it.
C’mon uptheiron answer this question with an honest answer. Your always good at asking questions. How many seasons do you CLAIM to have been a supporter of Scunthorpe United FC. I bet you landed with the SWANNS.
Error should read WHOSE pulling your strings too.
“Alienate the man paying all the bills to keep the club afloat”. We can see whose hymnsheet your singing from and shose pulling your strings too. Your a puppet or is it a muppet if you believe that statement. SWANN CANT LOSE HIS COMPANY OWN THE STADIUM AND ASSETS, HES MADE SURE OF THAT. Did you listen to Bob Steele on Radio Humberside tonight. A true longlife supporter as well as a Telegraph Sports Reporter previously. He spoke the absolute truth about Swann and our football club and how much he is not trusted by our supporters. You obviously are a member of the Swann clan.
I agree Ferrite this would make a statement and I would willingly do the same, stay outside until after the match has kicked off for 5 minutes or so. This I’m sure would make the news too. It’s got to be something that will make a difference. Either do that or demonstrate after the match and refuse to leave the stadium for 10 minutes or so whilst this is happening. Something must be done to show up what is happening to our Club.

The fault lies purely with Swann and not Steve Wharton who left due to ill-health. Swann came in with big talk about building a new stadium, championship football and the club being run much better than it was before. How many fans did he hood-wink with these lies and promises. He even had the nerve to belittle the previous ownership by saying it had been run as a hobby. Well at least it wasn’t run as a money-grabbing business. Football is a passionate hobby to supporters. Wharton was a football fan as well as the Chairman. It would be good to have the hobby days back as we soon won’t have a club to support.Swann says we won’t go out of the football league. If he does nothing to change our current plight he is either phsycic or an imbecile.
The man who should take all the blame for this is Swann, but when does he accept any blame. Just excuses – it’s covid, it’s the fans, it’s the council. Steve Wharton is not to blame, he left due to ill-health. How many fans did Swann hood-wink when he first took over as Chairman. Came in with big talk about a new stadium, championship football and running the club better than it had been previously. Even had the cheek to say it had only previously been run as a hobby. Football is a hobby to supporters. Bring back those days, as we soon won’t have a club to support at all under Swann.
Yesterday we were the embarrassment of the football league. Particularly listening to the match report from Tom Newey on Radio Humberside, the after match interview with Davis and listening to fans reports of the match. Our 600 supporters paid travel and ticket expenses and then for the team as a whole to collapse as it did and not show any passion for the game is an embarrassment and a disgrace. Davis said some of the players didn’t look like league 2 standard, so considering he had a bad game does that mean he is one of those players or couldn’t he simply be bothered. SWANN, COX AND LILLIS must take full responsibility for this utter shambles. What an EMBARRASSMENT.

Yes Inspector I agree Steve Wharton is a gentleman. His heart was also in Scunthorpe United as was his father before him. He would never have allowed the massive debt to happen and definitely would never have taken the ground and assets away from our Club. He attended every home match and always stayed in the directors box after the match applauding all our players down the tunnel, win lose or draw. He also travelled to all away matches and gained so much pleasure from the football. I knew him very well indeed and can say he is a very honest person, totally different to the position our Scunthorpe United is in now.
OK Awaywego so in your opinion we are not an embarrassment to the football league. Well today’s result and fans saying we are an embarrassment proves that heartbreakingly we certainly are. One person to blame for all of this by having no interest in the football at our Club, only in the value of the stadium and assets. We attended the very first forum which Swann organised and from that night we saw through him and didn’t trust him at all. Wish I had been proved wrong.

Our Club used to be very well respected in football circles but Swann has dragged us down to this level where all respect has been drained away and there is no respect shown whatsoever to we supporters. All we hear from Swann now is that we need to buy our season tickets and support the club financially, which we have been doing over the years, but the level he has dragged us down to is utterly shameful. Some fans often complained when Steve Wharton was chairman but there is no way he would have ran up such huge debt and then claimed our stadium and all the assets to pay off debts and transferred the club to his own company. Scunthorpe United are the only losers and the loss is colossal. Swann has made sure he cannot lose and if any person believes what he says I am sorry but they must be totally deluded.

Watching Look North news, they did an item on Eid (end of ramadan). They were chatting with ABO EISA and underneath it said ABO EISA – former Scunthorpe United striker !
So looks like self announcement the thing of the moment – Mark Howard first and now ABO>
Our club is run so unprofessionally now. It proves yet again Swann has no idea on how to run a professional football club.

Agree with you James Brown. Surely the Iron Trust or Supporters Club should be organising something. Otherwise what is the point of these organisations???
If you are referring to the Iron Trust they probably don’t know that it’s them you’re talking about.
Yes the Iron Trust. Does anyone know if they are looking into the legalities of Swann transferring our Club’s assets to his own company? Are they also backing the protest on Saturday? One would hope they are doing something constructive surely.
You’re right Iron64. We should be petitioning the Football League to look into our Clubs recent and disastrous affairs. Why cant the Football Trust get involved and start a petition and also get in touch with the national and local press. Does anyone know if the Trust are doing anything?

Yes shall you be going. What time is planned?
Yes foreveriron We are all entitled to our opinions. But look at it from another angle. Swann hasn’t kept us GOING as you say through covid. Now the stadium has GONE, the land has GONE and all the clubs assets have GONE to his company. He’s kept us going alright!!!

You would think the players should be on a win bonus for the last two games to keep us in the league. But the way we have been playing you would think they are on a bonus to lose and take us out the league.
Can I ask the question would it be fair to say that the stadium, land and assets have been stolen from the Club?Just asking the question. Yes or no.
It’s fair to say as well that Swann falls out with everyone! Managers, supporters, players and even the local council.

What if all the fans were to join the Football Trust would that help our cause in any way. Surely someone should listen. Another avenue is what if we contact our local MP Holly-Mumby Croft. Apparently aren’t the government looking at new legislation for football clubs, owners, shareholders and fans.

The only place Swann should be is on the ropes for what he has done to our beloved Scunthorpe United FC. The article from Bob Steel is very accurate and true regarding the past and present situation which our club finds itself in, and this situation is entirely down to Swann. The utter disgrace of this is that he has made sure he now owns the stadium, land and all the clubs assets and gain financially. There is no way this should be happening as he has caused the disastrous position our club is now in.
This is pure greed and total disregard of the fans and our club and also of our town Scunthorpe. The football club is and always has been a very important asset of our town and has put us on the map on many occasions. One man should not be allowed to destroy this. Could we ask the council to look into what is happening at Glanford Park and are the Football Trust already doing this. Another question is who has valued the ground and assets.

If this protest goes ahead on the 8th May it needs proper organisation re details of times, etc. and press involvement.
Uptheiron99 I’ll repeat. You’re certainly not a fan. Why don’t you admit who you really are? We’ve been supporters for the last 60 years and our parents and grandparents before us. But this is the worst situation our club now finds itself in during all this time. In my opinion the Swanns dont value supporters but still expect us to put our money into the club. On and off the field we look to be heading for disaster. But the Swanns will still be making money from their developments and will walk away from the football without giving Scunthorpe United a second thought. I just hope the Swanns are not the people who take us out of the football league.
Well you’re definitely not a fan or supporter! The truth is there for all to see. So Scunthorpe United FC hasn’t lost its stadium, hasn’t lost its land, wont ever have to pay rent to play there, aren’t playing the worst football since coming into the football league, aren’t having to fight to stay in the football league, have got a chairman who in my opinion is unfit to run a league club and racked up huge debts like never before and has alienated most supporters. I could go on and on. Do nothing and our Club will be gone, there’ll just be buildings there. THIS IS WHY WE NEED A PROTEST.

As many supporters as possible should turn up at Glanford Park on 8th May to protest what the Swanns have done to our Club. The blame lies solely with them for the situation we are in now. And then the audacity to take away all the club’s land and stadium and transfer the ownership to themselves and say Swann is now going to focus on his flats and buildings. This has made sure that no-one would want to buy our club as we no longer have any assets, and this would also prevent the club taking out any loans. In my opinion they have totally STITCHED THE CLUB UP! This protest should be made aware of to the local press and get them to come down to GP and also to the national press. C’mon irn bru we need you to make the press aware of what is happening.

We have had several polls on union bru over the years and I like many fans have willingly voted. So now I am asking the people who run irn bru please will you start a poll as to the fans views of the swanns transferring the assets of our Club to their own company. If you aren’t willing to organise a poll I ask why not?
Please can we start a poll now on irn bru. Any other club I’m sure the fans would be absolutely devastated, seething and wanting lots more answers. How can it be legal to take a club’s assets for much less than they are worth? Obviously whoever does this has no morals whatsoever, just pure greed.

I never believed Swann from the moment he took over our Club. He came in with his grand ideas, non of which have come to fruition. He racked up the huge debt by mismanagement and has manipulated the situation so that his company own our stadium and land because of this. He hired and fired managers, all of which were better than our current manager. He told fans we couldnt take food and drink into the stadium. He has cancelled the matchday programme. We know do not have any assets. Now he says he is concentrating on his flats and buildings. IN MY OPINION THIS HAS BEEN HIS INTENTION FROM DAY 1. PLEASE WILL SOMEONE START A POLL AND WE SUPPORTERS SHOULD BE DOING MORE.

You’re absolutely right Sharp Shooter, in my opinion Swann cannot be trusted, as I am sure most of our fans think the same. I have been of this opinion since he first took over our Club, the worst thing that could have happened to our beloved Scunthorpe United. The man has no interest whatsoever in the football and he as much has said this on the radio by stating he is now concentrating on his flats and buildings. Worst of all he has stripped our Club of all its assets, now owns the land and stadium, which I believe must be worth much, much more than what his company has acquired it for. In my opinion he has wrecked our club and what has he left us with? No assets, we dont even own our own land and stadium, a football team which would at present struggle to hold it’s own in non-league football, and shows a total disregard for all supporters. He has even abolished our matchday programme, which to some may seem trivial, but it isn’t, this is part of our clubs tradition and history, as was the ground and stadium. We have become an embarrassment under Swann and are now having to rely on Grimsby going out of the league to enable us to stay in if we dont gain any more points. After watching today’s match v Walsall I am even sure now that Cox is not the man for the manager’s job. His tactics and substitutions are dire. Like the previous comments I agree that leaving our second best player on the bench and then substituting Gillead just proves he is the worst manager Swann has employed. The only reason he is still here I believe is because he will never ever be critical of Swanns decisions and he is not his own man, he is a yes man. He never takes any of the blame himself and blames everything on the players, most of whom are youngsters who are learning. Cox and Lillis coach the players all week but they are certainly not learning or improving under the. After being a supporter for the last sixty or so years I have to say our Club is in the worst situation ever in my opinion in all that time and am very, very concerned in the direction which Swann is taking Scunthorpe United.
I feel we, as supporters, should be making our voices heard and demanding more answers to out present situation.6 users thanked author for this post.
