Please don’t start blaming the players. This is what SWANN wants to happen -Blame the players and manager, nothing to do with me. Our present disastrous position is down to THE SWANNS alone.
It’s not Steve Whartons fault at all. How many fans believed what SWANN had to say when he first took over our Club. Although we definitely didn’t, it was pie in the sky and several fans have talked us down and argued he was the best thing since sliced bread. SWANN with his big talk and Rodwell by his side talked the talk but they definitely can’t walk the walk. You are doing what exactly SWANN AND HIS FAMILY WANT, ushering the blame away from them, by you blaming someone else. We’ve just listened to the podcast, have you yet? They are coming out on there now and saying SWANN AND HIS FAMILY with their decisions are the cause of the situation we are now in. DROPPING OUT OF THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE!

We can’t understand why so many stewards were standing in front of our fans on the Doncaster Road end terrace and yet hardly any in front of the away end. What on earth is going on. Yet recently the away fans are being allowed to invade the pitch. Who on earth is in charge of the stewarding. Is it down to Swann not wanting any demonstrations on the pitch at the end of the matches. It was making our fans look really hostile with all these stewards in front of them particularly near the end of the match today. I feel this is another way of alienating our supporters.

February 19, 2022 at 10:44 pm in reply to: Petition Scunthorpe and North Lincolnshire Council #232297I think we should petition them to look into the legalities of what Swann has done with our stadium and land and what are his future plans as it feels as if he is holding our Club to ransom. The Football Club is an essential part of our community and our town. I don’t see why we cannot organise petitions and get fans and townspeople to sign regarding saving our football club.

You’re exactly right mistertonmick and so is Hill when he says it’s the embargo that will lose us our league status. Well Hill isn’t going to come out on the radio and say it’s SWANN’s doing is he? But we all know what he meant, he said it’s non of his doing or the players so who does that leave = SWANN. I fully agree with what Hill said and you need to read between the lines. We all know it’s one man’s fault = SWANN. Hill is protecting his players which is what he needs to do particularly the younger ones who are still learning their careers. I do hope fans don’t start blaming Hill for our present disastrous position as in my opinion this is what SWANN wants to happen as he wants no blame laid at his door. BUT WE ALL KNOW WHO IS TO BLAME!!!!!!!

Hill said in his aftermatch interview that we should all stick together,
fans, players, manager, chairman, everyone. But when you have a chairman like SWANN who makes it obvious that he no longer wants to be at Scunthorpe United and can’t even be bothered to be present at matches this makes a mockery of Hill’s statement. We’re rotten at the top.3 users thanked author for this post.
You are joking Awaywego. Who has run a the debt up at our Club and put us in the position we are now. SWANN. Who has transferred ownership of our stadium and assets to their own family company. sWANN. C”mon SWANN now is the time to give us our stadium and assets back and leave.

I remember when going to the forums in the exec. lounge. The first thing you met inside the door was a life-size cardboard cut-out of SWANN himself! Talk about blowing your own trumpet. Well he can’t blow it know can he? Oh and we didn’t believe anything he promised even at the first forum when he was bragging about getting us in the championship, building us a new ground, and leaving us in a better position financially. Because hey its only been run as a hobby! In my opinion what an imbecile!
A very good post bartonscorpion. You’ve hit the nail on the head. SWANN talks in riddles and says the opposite to what he means all of the time. He says he will sell our Club with the right offer, but our Club isn’t up for sale. It’s like a car dealer having cars on the forecourt but they’re not up for sale. The only thing SWANN does is back himself.
Non of our supporters want SWANN AND HIS FAMILY here at Scunthorpe United and he knows it. In my opinion this is why he is hiding away as he never ever takes or will accept any criticism. He calls himself a businessman! Some businessman who drives his club into oblivion! He’s not fit to wipe the shoes of Steve Wharton.

Very well done Bury AFC and the Shakers. It sounds as if the Government, Council, Fans and their local community have all pulled together in the right direction and will once again have a club to support and be proud of. C’mon SWANN give us our land and stadium back and clear off!

You may think the training pitch is an improvement Awaywego but it definitely has not improved the football or the footballers and how they play. Ask fans which they would rather have, a training pitch at the ground or decent football and footballers and staying in the Football League. It doesn’t make any difference where they train, as proven when we were in the championship!
It’s a coward who hides away and doesn’t take responsibility for his mistakes. Or are they mistakes?

I think you’re exactly right Wondergoals, in my opinion too the only reason he reappeared was to take the heat away from himself and I think he has done the same by bringing Hill in, and he probably knew it was too late to keep us in the football league anyway. In his eyes our present situation is not down to HIM. This is my opinion.

Not really bothered where he is but I wish he had never ever come to Scunthorpe United. In my opinion the day he stepped into our Club was the worst day in our history!

Part time or into administration.

SWANN has gone very quiet again, like the invisible man! According to posts on here he’s not even bothering to attend matches.if that’s correct it speaks volumes. Who knows what he is up to now and what his future plans are. Although if he came out and said what his plans are would we be any wiser anyway???????

In my opinion we won’t be able to compete in non-league football whilst the SWANNS are still here. I fact I will be very surprised if we still have an existing Scunthorpe United Football Club. SWANN has said several times he is not going to put any more money into our Club and the budget he has made is not going to fund any decent players. He says we have to be self sustainable. This is not going to happen as you only have to look at the gates now. If we drop out of the football league the gates will drop even much more and I feel our existence depends on us avoiding the drop. The outlook is very bleak indeed unless by some miracle we can start winning matches back to back.
I agree with ironfromafar. Somebody had to have it looked as if he were doing something to try and keep us in the league. But in my opinion that SOMEONE knew it was too late anyway. In my opinion it was done to try and deflect blame as that SOMEONE cannot take any blame or criticism.

I don’t know why some supporters think that we will be ok if we drop into non-league football. We definitely WON’T with the SWANN family still owning our Club. There would have to be some massive changes. = New owners, bigger playing budget. Even with changes its is very, very difficult to re-gain league status and I would imagine our Club would be folded. With SWANNS track record surely everyone must realize now that him and his family have no interest whatsoever in Scunthorpe United existing as football club.
Oldham fans were brilliant on the day for their team. Definitely 12th man and what they were singing and chanting came across very positive.
Hi Thanatos a few questions. Do you have a decent Chairman? DO you have decent directors? Does Walsall FC still own its own land and assets? If I remember correct your stadium was mirrored and planned similar to ours. I remember your directors coming over to Scunthorpes new stadium to view at the time when yours was being planned. I hope for your sakes your Club is being run much much better than ours has been under our current family owners.

Absolutely correct Ferrite. Clubs attitude “you come to us”. But then if this is how the Chairman portrays fans purely as money coming through the turnstile and not being valued at all then this attitude will filter right through the club. It feels as if the commercial department no longer exists at SUFC. Everything feels as if it has been taken away from supporters. No half decent football or players, no matchday programme, no working scoreboard, sub-standard toilets and facilities, catering prices increased and at the same time prohibited from taking your own food or drinks into the stadium and now on the verge of losing our football leage status after having been a Football League Club for over 70 years. Oh what great marketing!!!!

Sorry spelling error “IMPROVE” greatly.
Steve Wharton hardly missed a match home and away. It was SWANN who said, at the first forum he held in the exec lounge, that the previous owner had run the club as a hobby, and that things would inorove greatly and the club would be in a much better position when he left. Well look at our Club now, we dont even own the ground or assets. We don’t have a decent group of directors showing any motivation or will to get us out of the current situation which they have created, and have a chairman who doesn’t even bother to attend matches. In my opinion Simon Elliott has just been brought in as a smokescreen to try and deflect blame, the same as SWANN blames supporters.
SWANN needs to get the club officially up for sale as did the Allans at Hull City and see what interest we get as I don’t see any way forward whatsoever while the SWANNS are still here. SWANN says he will sell with the right offer, that’s just talk until he actually puts the club on the selling market.
