Yes Sanfran, how things have changed pal, every week for years we both sat at every match in the Cluggy, and after a little chat putting things right, it was then usually 90 mins (well 85 in my case ha ha!), enjoying the game, until that changed four or five years ago as a result of Swann. I have not attended for over two years now, and I think that you are in the same boat. I lost interest after swallowing years of lie after Swanns lies and just admitted there was no more enjoyment to be had at GP, I even dropped out of the Prediction League, and in general I never thought I would say it, but I completely lost interest in football, Swann drained me of all my years of love of the game and Scunny United.

But I would love to see the team regain a bit of pride and read that the players were fully putting in some effort, and start to win a few games for the remaining fans that are still attending, hope you are fit and well Sanfran and I am just wondering how you will be venting your frustration now that you have no East side ,linesman toget rid of it on ha ha!, take care.

Matt, for Christ sake close this thread down mate, it has become a slagging match between Xxx and Siderite, they are stating their same things over and over again, it is never ending rubbish and pointless.

At the end of the day, no one appears to know if anythging was said or not said, and at the end of the day it will be up to Swann if the sale goes ahead or not, and recprds point to it not being a good happy ending for Scunny fans, but it is so pointless with page after page of the dsame stuff!

The best action at present is to just close this tread down surely.

It is rumour after rumour at the Scunny football club, it seems years since the simple truth was thought to be enough, we have had new stadiums, championship football, GP refurbishment, 160 new appartments built, new football club owner, the system of 1,899 fans owning a share in the stadium at a cost of £1,899 each share, youth team disbanded, training to be done in Derbyshire, now the Swann / Hilton rift rumour, why is there a barrier on anyone just telling the bloody truth???.
It is just my opinion that the 1,899 share thing and the bringing forward the early bird price of next seasons season ticket end date to a date when this seasons pathetic showing has not even ended, points to the fact that the new owner needs big fundfs urgently so that the sale of the club can actally go ahead!!
But it is so stupid, and completely wrong if the rumour of Mr Hilton and his family being abused whilst leaving the ground, I just hope it is not correct, I appreciate that fans are sick to their back teeth of seeing their once proud team get worse and worse each match, but their action should be to give thenselves a break and miss a game or two, it is now too late I know. If they think the relegation has only resulted during the past two months or since the new owner arrived, they are sadly wrong, this club have been heading for NLN for many months, there are too many of the players giving very little effort.

We all thought that our club had been saved, but is far from this situation whilst the big man is still involved, there are many more sad twists and turns before that happens.

So my 1-2 prediction was even worse, Neil Cox said that Scunny had more yellow cards during the game than attempts on goal, and that the team was really, really poor!!

I am thinking of getting a train down to Dorking next week, does anyone know if there are any tickets left ??. I remember going to the Newcastle v Scunny FA Cup win of ours in 1957, does anyone else recall those times, over 6,000 fans went on eight special trains, just 16 years of age then, and it was a bottle of Newkey Brown, nowadays it appears to be a burger that attracts fans ha ha!!, surely it would be better to fall 100 yards short of GP these sad days and call at the golden “m”, it would also save you 90 mins of pain.

I will get ready for a few death threats for my bit of banter, awaywego will be really really wound up after todays showing, I just hope that his burger was nice and hot and in a fresh bun!!, roll on Dorking.

I fully undewrstand where you are coming from Pat O’Cake, looking back over the many years, they were many of them that were not so good, but as you say mate, you just continue and they normally turn things round. I suppose what has finished it for me is the way that has ruined every thing that he has done over the past five or so years, added to the constant lies from him, it has been a very sad time for SUFC and its fans, that one man has ruined everything, and it got too much for me to stick with the club, simply becaue there was no enjoyment any longer of trecking there to watch it.

I hope your going to stand the increase for them IFA, what happens if Hilton doesn’t come up with the money to buy the ground? Will they not buy a season ticket and disappoint the eldest grandkid? Ask the grandkid if he’s bothered who owns the ground mine don’t give a flying f all they want to do is see as many scunny games home and away as they can, all the grandkids will see is some sad old fart in a distant country being a knob. For f sake you were one of the lads in toppo’s van you’ve had your enjoyment out of the club let the grandkids have theirs. Ps Have you told the grandkids on what you used to get up to so they know the boundaries to adheer to lol.

Ironfromafar. It is your turn to receive the “awaywewgo” wrath, at least it gives me a bit of respite, if only it is for a couple of hours or so, you should really have given things a bit more thought, and should never give any oipinions of yours on the iron-bru forum ha ha!, even though you are completely correct in what you say.

Nobody’s questioning your support over the years BS you’ve rammed it in our faces, didn’t take long in your replies before your slagging fans off,”probably placed in straight jackets” “having a tile loose”. And I’m the one out of order?

So you actually thought that I would expect stewards standing at the turnstiles and placing Scunny fans in straight jackets ha ha!, no matter about my 70 years of attending Scunny fixtures, I still cannot understand fans traveling all over the country to watch what the present team are presenting to them, boring football, no shots on target, 6 wins out of 46 league and cup games, yes against none league terams, I just cannot understad it. It was great when a new management squad took over, but nothing has really changed has it???????????????????????????????. Anyway I still hope that you enjoy it for many years, but I shall just be attending the Scunny Speedway team unless things change at GP, but I hope that you gain some enjoyment from watching Scunny, but be truthful awaywego, are you really feeling you have had your money’s worth the last three seasons??????????????.

now do us all a favour and leave the planet

Out of order! Yes Pat, it was not a very nice thing to say was it, but he now says that I was slagging fans off for continuing watching the present team, but it was not the case really, all I said was that I cannot understand fans going all those distances to away matches, and that after 70 years doing the same, that I no longer feel any enjoyment in watching them any longer. Anyway awaywego has his right to put his views forward, and he really had no reason to put what he did, but so be it, I will certainly not lose any sleep over it, and it will not effect when the time arrives, but I really still enjoy life and do not spend my time layed in my lounge passing time.
So lets get on with things guys, and just hope that things turn for better days down at GP, you never know, if they start playing entertaining footy, I could end up back in my old I32 seat in the Cluggy Stand ha ha!
Enjoy the last couple of matches awaywego and hope that they get a win for you, and I still consider myself as a Scunny supporter even though not attending present day matches.

“would think that fans still turning out for Scunny away games will probably be placed in “straight jackets” because to be traveling to matches in the second level of none league games, you will be assessed to have a possible tile loose”.

Why? Sorry Northumbiron, but I had 70 years of supporting them home and away, so your comments should not just refer to my opinions of the past three years of giving up all hope, I am afraid that Mr Swann has kil;led off all my passion for present day attending. At 82 YOA, pal, I would think that could be taken as another reason for not going.

Your support of the club is as sardonic as ever!

Turn up early enough you might even get a game with a name like Pele ..

Looking at current attendances in NLN many away fixtures could possibly have more Scunny fans then home so would be hard to enforce proper segregation.

Well ironfromafar, I would think that fans still turning out for Scunny away games will probably be placed in “straight jackets” because to be traveling to matches in the second level of none league games, you will be assessed to have a possible tile loose.

You’ve gone crusty and stale over the years, where has your freshness gone?

It has probably been drained by Swann, added to three relegations in four years.

Added to the bloody dross that you keep watching, I am sure that if the team play worse next season, the gates will top 4,000, the worse it gets, the more of you keep turning up for another portion!!!!

Well thats another 90 mins out of the way, and the report suggests that it was another Scunny none event, it was not on the two main RH channels, so got off light with not listening to it, but it reads to have been a poor showing once again, now five matches without a single bloody goal.

I did predict a 0-1 defeat, but it turned out to be 0-2.
My prediction for the gate was 67 more than actually turned up, but not far off!!

So what next season turns out like is anyones guess, but everything appears to be getting worse, what with a big pay off of staff, players that are either not good enough or not trying, Stadium very run down and even the pitch is in poor condition accordding to reports, manager sounded as if he had given up with things in todays after match interview, and it asounds as though the new owner is not going to be paying any cash out of his own pocket.

It looks very grim for the loyal supporters that have stuck with them through 3 relegations in four years, Christ Swann has a lot to answer for.

It is very sad that a lot of you loyal supporters seem to have lost faith in the team, the club have changed hands and have a new owner, also a new manager and assistant, the attendance has gone from 2,400 to 3,500., eleven new players have since arrived at our club and they are giving their all for you fans, so get behind them and show a bit of loyalty please. You have even been offered a part share in the up to dated GP Stadium, and you can then be a part owner of it for a small fee, I really do not know what you need so that you will reelly – reeLly care for Scunthorpe United???

PREDICTION SCUNNY 0 OLDHAM 1 (making it five games without a goal!!!!

Think you are a little confused over the 1899 scheme BS. Wether you were for or against is up to each individual but get things right, it was always about fans just owning the ground and not the land. That’s how I read it anyway.

I am not really sure Iron-awe, it was not clearly stated the package content, but at it’s value of £3 million, this was supposed to have been the value that Swann wanyed for the whole club, if I am correct it was at a later date that it became clearer tht it was just for the tin shed stadium and that other projects were to be placed on the training ground, and the idea that the club training would be done in Derbyshire, and GP would be open just on match days.
Supporters do not deserve to be treated like they are, and now the new issue concerning season tickets has arrisen, and they want your money for next season before this disaster of a bloody season has even ended, just wondering what is the next thing to hit our remaining long suffering fans????

Facts are there for all to see with the situation at SUFC, that is for those that want to see.

The club have been in an endless downward spiral for five years now, and although the change in ownership has suposedly taken place (Swann still being the owner of its assets), so the sale must have been for the players and its management, and looking at that squad of people, you would probably have to pay someone to take them off your hands.
Then you have the 1899 offer put to the supporters at a cost to each of £1,899 qwhich would give them a 1,899th share of the stadium and land package, this then turned into an offer that the club did not even own the package and it was in the safe hands of Swann, a man that has not been associated with not much truth over many a year at Scunny. When it was then changed to just being the run down stadium, there is no wonder that the few takers are wanting their money returned to them.

The club is not worth supporting any longer, and fans should now believe that they are now heading into the sixth level of English Football, that is after a spell or two in the second level. After tomorrows defeat at Gateshead and the Aldershot v Yeovil providing points or point to the teams above us, fans must take a long look at things and ask the question on why they continue to attend GP and watch such shite, they are paying out good money to be made miserable. The latest situation is that the new owner is not happy with the supporters, even though they are noew 3,500 each match from the 2,500 level before, and things do not appear to have got any better on thge pitch, and other things are predicted to be getting worse off it.
It is not the best way of spending your Saturday afternoon listening to RH, but at least you can add a bit of spice to things by having a beer, and counting Neil Cox’s “rEEly – rEEll and rEElly’s, his trecord whilst I have monitored them is 91 during one match.

I cannot blame them, it was never going to happen, firstly it was announced far too early, you just cannot offer a deal at a very large cost when you do not actually own the object, and to compound the issue even more, the present time acual owner is no other Peter Swann given his record of the word “truth”.

If I am correct, wasn’t the package in question for the ground and training pitch land etc??, even if it wasn’t, the fact tremains that Swann is still the owner of what ever, it appears like this 1899 idea is to raise money needed to pay Swann and it appears that the land is earmarked for a different project, and what a stupid idea for the daily training to be carried out in Derbyshire.

Although it was great when Mr Hilton saved our club from certain extinction, and an extra 1,200 fans are now turning up for him, is it really still going to be Scunthorpe United ??, and with us now going to be in the sixth level of football, how much longer can the club maintain over 3,000 loyal followers, and given the effortless shite they are serving up what is the atraction for the continual suffering for them??

Well guys, I really thought that the team would turn up and give their all today, we were playing another relegation placed team, another team just as bad as the one during the week against York, so what happened, they are set up with ONE UP BLOODY FRONT again, we had to win at York, and we had to win against Torquay today, but there is no fight or passion in the club what so ever, they just don’t give a toss about our once great little club!!!!.
The team cannot even score a goal and do not create chances anymore, I just cannot see why there are 3,500 fans that turn up to watch a team that do not appear to be interested in playing for it, this pathetic team (managers, coaches and players) even had a total of over 2,500 travel to our last two away matches, and the team have not even scored a bloody goal in the last three matches, I am sick to see the team I have followed for 70 years turn out like it has, I am just pleased that I called it a day of actually turning up to watch such crap.

I listened to it on RH, and the only one that did score big was Neil Cox, he managed to score (91 rEElly or rEElly – rEElly’s) during the game, where as he only scored 64 in the last game, but in both matches he managed the full bloody 90 miniutes of moaning.

Well although relegation was cut and dried before today, the final nail was hammered in by the team and management at GP today, just think, a must , must win game and playing at home against a fellow relegation team and set up with one up bloody front, it was criminal!!!

If the guys are set up to go all out for the three points by having two up front and have wingers, there is no reason why we cannot get a 3-1 win at least, but after throwing two points away last week at York, when it appeared that Scunny waisted time and played out the game for a pointless point, who knows???.

Three points today will not make any difference to the dire position we are in, as relegation is 99% ashored, but it would give our suffering supporters a bit of cheer, after these past 4 or 5 years of utter shite!. Who would have thought that SUFC could have sank so low after that very long time in the football league, I wonder how Swann is feeling right now??? the evil creep has guided us into this sad state, but it will be the fans fault by his recogning!!!.

Sorry guys, but my forcast for Tuesdays game at York is YORK 3 SCUNTHORPE 1.
Probably a keepers error and two back post goals as normal, but Scunny should manage at least one shot this game, maybe!!!

I hope that I am wrong, but for three or four years Scunthorpe never seem to set up any system that sees us going all out for a win, and just because York are struggling themselves does not make Scunny a better team than normal, our away form is terrible, even the bottom team Maidstone took 4 points from us in the two meetings, relegation awaits us even if we did manage a shock win, so just hope that it is not another rEElly – rEElly poor showing, our hardened supporters deserve for thge players to put some work effort into their performances

This was a match that was over after 10 minutes, in fact it was probably over in the dressing room before taking to the pitch, I listened to it on RH, and Scunny never had a shot on target during the 90 mins, in fact only had one shot during the whole game, it must have been so boring, to be outplayed for the full game after taking the trip to Nottingham.
The only good point for you guys, was that you didn’tt have to listen to “really really” Cox, who moaned for the full broadcast, it wouldn’t be so bad, but when he was the manager, the team and asewt up was bloody terrible, but he appears to thgink that he knows everything right now.

The club was ruined by Swann, and it will take some getting back, they will struggle next season in the NLN, the question is how long will the band of loyal supporters keep torning out to watch such rubbish???

“whilst Labour and the SNP want them to keep coming, I do not think that there is any answer to the situation, and like everything else”.

The Government has an 80 seat majority, there is nothing that Labour or the SNP can do other than oppose what will turn out to be an illegal policy.

Yes Heath, it is a complete disgrace that this backlog of many thousands of these illegal invaders of our shores have not been screened and only the real people that are fleeing danger still remain.
But this is not the main reason for 70,000 of them being housed in hotels, the main rerason is that they should not be allowed in the first place, and another being is because the UK laws offer them a system of being housed, fed and kept nice and warm, where other countries would just deport such people.

As for “64” or what ever you call yourself, you are just one evil lout, and have been that way for years, your record of slagging off other member seem to have stuck with you as far as I can remember, it is probabbly yoo late to change it.

BS, all of the points in this thread are criticism of the Government, which I guess you voted for. The Government has filled the hotels and are responsible for processing all migrant applications.

The answers to your questions should be directed at one place, Martin Vickers MP who I understand has an office in Barton.
As you say pal, I did vote for this party, and what a bloody mess they are doing on most of the present topics, they have been a total washout and continue being so, but regards wanting to stop this endless flow of drop outs illegally entering the UK, is probably one of the better aims, but whilst Labour and the SNP want them to keep coming, I do not think that there is any answer to the situation, and like everything else, it will go on unattended, just like the strike actions, the ambulane waiting, the dentists, the cost of living crisis, the NHS etc.
They do not appear to be able to solve anything, but I fear the other party will be just as bad, they are going to fix everything, but they fail to say how, or where the money is going to come from to pay for their plans if they really have any.

The answer for myself is that I shall not bother my arse in voting for any of them, and let you guys decide for me, simply because they all act like bloody clowns.

I see what you are saying pal, and as you say I did vote for the Tory

“The truth is that countries such as France have an appalling record of looking after migrants/immigrants. For all of the problems we have in the UK — and I’m not diminishing them for one moment — things are far better here than they are in many other countries, including a lot in the EU.”
Then we should be proud ,puff our chests out and let it continue,we coukd stop the boats by opening proper safe routes and not closing them.

i am sorry to say “64”, but I cannot see any reason to stick my chest out when I see illegal men (from safe countries) being off loaded onto life boats out at sea and brought into our country. I do not feel proud when I see that these people are placed into hotels costing our tax payers about £80 per day each (stated to be £6 million per day), I do not feel good that France get rid of these by assisting them to get to Britain, I would probably stick my chest out if the people that are glad to accept them were instructed to take a few of them into their own homes.

There were over 560,000 more forieners entered the UK last year than the one’s that left this country, how the hell longer do you do gooders intend sticking your chests out and think this can go on for ??????, we do not have enough houses for our own people, we do not have enough hospitals, dentists, schools, doctors, thgat’s why we are waiting to be seen for our own medical appointments etc. Plus I do not stick my chest out when I see many of these so called refugees that have knifed or blown up inocent people, or are employed by drug pushers, the truth is that not all of these illegals are good people, some are but many have criminal records prior to their boat trips, so let France keep these people themselves, most of them are living in small tents or cardboard boxes in France, but expect four star hotels, good free food and even moiney from the do gooders of britain.
Please note that this is not being racist, it is just my own oppinion, which most people would probably agree with if they were not to be condmned as being racists, by the same people that think it is ok for Liniker to call Mrs Brabermans speech like it was coming from a Nazi, so my question has not been answered really.

I would think that in many cases, it is not particulally what he said, but more a case of resentment due to him being on £1,300,000 per year, you will find this in many walks of life.

Just one thing that baffles me is, these forum members that preach their backing for free speech, they say that they support free speech, but many times on this forum these same people condemn others for giving their views, so are they saying that it is ok for some, but very wrond from others??????
I await your views on this question guys!!!!
