That must rank as one of the worst all round team performances I have seen in my 69 years of supporting Scunny, they had no skills, no effort and no clue when once again playing a shite team, I cannot recall even one shot of ours on target during the 95 mins playing time. Grimsby had just the one kind of shot when once again Howard gave them the goal, when he was too slow in handling a deflected centre, as stated during the week, Loft must be the worst centre forward the club have ever had, he should feel guilty when holding his hand out for his wage packet, my markings for today are :-

    HOWARD—–3
    HIPPOLYTE—4
    BEDEAU—–6
    ONARAISE—6
    CLARKE—-5
    SPENCE—-5
    BEESTIN—5
    GILLIEAD—5
    EISA—-4
    MCATEE—5
    LOFT—-2

    JARVIS—3
TAYLOR—-3 Did he touch the ball?

ref—3—Constantly blowing that bloody whistle, 30 free kicks, and got a few things wrong.

COX—3—Has no bloody clue and should be sacked today, how can forum members support this clown???, again Hippolyre at full back, McAtee subbed at half time for Jarvis, Cox is a very luckey man to still be employed.

SWANN—3—Why no apearance and him not asking where the club is heading under Cox!!!!!

MATCH SUMMARY—2—This was dire and a disgrace to be presented as League Two football, and was a complete waste of £10.

    , NO PLAYING SYSTEM

Well I feel that most regular forum members already know my views regarding Scunthorpe keepers, as far as which of a poor choice should be our number one, I think that Watson just tilts my opinion.

Watson is poor with dealing with ground shots, and does not control his goal area enough, but is in my opinion quicker to react when saving shots, except does not deal with low shots very well, but is slightly better cutting out crosses.

Whereas Howards positional play is very poor, he is rooted to his goal line at all times and too many of our defensive problems are because he never deals with crosses, and if the defender does not clear these, too many goals result from them. He is very slow in deciding to move to the ball, and his punching results in the ball going in any direction, he appears to have threepenny bit type knuckles. Howards kicking is not good, but after saying that, Watsons is the same, far too many kicks would be better suited to Wigan or Hull KR.

At the end of the day, all these problems associated with both keepers point to the goal keeping coach, who fails to try and correct a few of them. Makes me wander why Mussa has a spell before matches of pumping crosses into the certre of the goal area which are collected by the keepers coming out and catching the ball, but in games, this never happens, if we can see these problembs, WHY CANNOT MISSA ??????.

Well Sharp Shooteer, I must agree with 95% of your asswssments of the players today, it was very very poor indeed. It is a long time since SUFC had a good goalkeeper, and we have had some very poor centre forwards over the past 3 or 4 years, but in 69 years following Scunny, Loft and Turan are the worst we have ever had. We are midway thgough a patch when we are playing probably the worst six teams in the League, we would be in that group ourselves, and results are the three points we collected today being our points total up to now.

I appreciate you doing this thread mate, I had decided that it was not a wisw thing for me to continue with it, after last weeks effort when we got 14 members contributing to it, which included 4 of them being by myself, and two from Northubiron commenting on my spelling and English, leaving 8 from others. This alomng with the topic of “The knee” which should not be on the football section which collected 220 comments, I enjoy this weekly section regarding player ratings, and would appreciate if you continued with it pal, plus you are not affraid to tell it as it is. Cheers for this.

Here we go again, against a team that is looking for its first win in 12 games, but Barrow are the better team and could easily be in front. Scunny took the lead with a 20 yard Eisa goal, but the lead lasted all of two minutes before a keystone cop type goal made it 1-1, Hippolyte who was running towards his own goal played the ball out for a corner for some unknown reason, the corner came over and after bobbing about in the air was headed in from about five feet off the line, where was the keeper, well as usual in a trance standing on his line as normaL. The Scunny backs are getting torn apart, and Clarke has made at least five glaring errors, and I cannot remember Loft touching the ball in this half, he is absolutely rubbish. So a Cox type half time dressing down should work wonders, well we will see !!!!!!!!

My argument has always been, play your best team available, it is the way to go, and if full time players cannot play for three hours in a full week they are not fit and should be looking for another job!!!. I used to work six or seven thirteen hour days per week on projects, they should be raring to go after playing a one and a half hour game, then three days light training for a couple of hours, followed by the same again, and as Sanfran says they should be targeting and thinking of a win in all matches.

The problem with Scunthorpe United is that although we have a big 34 man squad, there are probably only about a fiftee at most that are good enough for League Two football, and on top of that, we always seem to have four or five long term injuries, but managers are employed to deal with these issues, and if they cannot do their job they either get bladdered or the team gets relegated, it is the Chairmans job at that point.

Yes Northumbiron it is easy when you read your report before clicking the SUBMIT, you spot many things that you have done wrong ha ha!

Sacked by Bradford. Won only 7 out of 29 games during his third spell at Valley Parade.

That record is not worse than ours, 4 wins out of 19 League and Cup games.

But then again, we are the only team that gets injuries it seems.

Mr Byrne, last Tuesday none of the three players that were dopped were injured, in fact two of them came on late in the game, and the other one warmed up but then was not used, and today only McGahey was injured, so I make that EIGHT CHANGES in the two games, wth just ONE injury, sdon’t know where ou get that info from.

Is there any chance of moving this topic onto the non-football section please, it now seems to be going round in circles, with the same people saying the same things over and over again.

At the end of the day, there is nothing what so ever forum members can do about the situation, it seems as if it is the players that abuse other players that is the problem, so it should be taken up with the Football League management to ban these people, that is if there is 100% proof of the happening.

These sort of things usually start off as arguments, then demonstratopns leading to rioting, and finally this gives the protesters to commence their usual looting. This is the football section but it would be better on the non-ootball section.

Still no valid suggestion on why a manager should drop all three of his forwrds after playing so well in our two mest previous games and scoring seven goals just for good measure, and regarding attacking football, those two games provided that didn’t they, the fact is that this Cox guy thinks that he knows best, same as him playing this bloody stupid 5-4-1 or whatever he decided to adopt.

I am in the 5% also.

Possibly our best home performance thi season, certainly in the top 2.

Colchester got away with one and they know it. Anyone who has played in games where your team is comfortably the better side but the ball just wont go in.

9 times out of 10 the opposition goalkeeper has a great game and the other team score the one time your defence goes to sleep.

Worse teams than Colchester were spanking us a month or two ago.

Yes, maybe our second best home performance of the season, I must agree with you on this point, but could that be because we have only won two home games out of twelve played, and one of them we got battered by Carlisle but some how got the three points.

My main point when saying fans must be pissed off is that a tea that had got max points from the last two matches, and scored seven goals in doing so have all threee forwads dropped, and although the defence played really well, the same cannot be said for the three replacements, Taylor, Green and Jarvis who in general were bloody dire. Can anyone of the 5% point out why this is acceptable, because I cannot., it was bloody stupid, and the result reflects his stupidity.

Final whistle just blown, and how the hell did we not win this game, against a very poor Colchester team making their first away win of the season. One shot by them and won 1-0, makes one feel really down, when three points were on a plate for us.

HOWARD–5—He really does worry me, when so slow and laid back, never made a save all game.
O’MALLY—8—Played very well and did nothing wrong.
    McGAHEY—7—ok BUT SHOULD HAVE SCORED.
ONARIASE—8—Defended well had a good game.
CLARKE—7—No complaints, but could onerlap more.
GILLIEAD—6—Had a fairly quiet game for him.
SPENCE—7—7I novled with much midfield play.
BEESTIN—9—Mt MOM, he never stops and played his heart out.
JARVIS—5—Gave away far too many free kicks, should have scored 2 goals.
TAYLOR–5—Has not produced what he myst have in his game, good first 10 mins only.
GREEN–5—Waisted to many balls by shooting, and caught out too often.

SUBS EISA—5—Did nothing really, BEDAUE—7—Played ok.
ROWE—8—PLAYED VERY WELL, UNLUCKY NOT SELECTED.

REF—5—Usual poor game from him, to whistle happy.

COX—4—The Tinkerman, How stupid can one get, dropped all three forwards after the team won their last two matches scoring SEVEN GOALS, this Stupid decision cost us three points, but I said on here yesterday he cannot stop fiddling even when things are going well, anoth manager that thinks he nows best, but his results prove this wrong.

We did not have much luck today, but we created so many chances to win easily, against a very poor team, the worst I have seen this season, I feel sure that if Eisa and McAtee had started the game, we would have easily have won this game, Jarvis and Green are not the answer, tis will probably upset a couple of players with the team selection.

SUPPORTERS—-I would think that 95% of us are pissed off.

“I appreciate that a few of you are wanting to hear my views on the issues”.

I certainly don’t and it would have been better if you hadn’t. Stick to the player ratings thread!

Hello Heath I see that you do not change much, why not just stick to being nice when putting things on here, peple have their own views on subjects, and some will nt accept any view of others if they don’t agree with theirs. I respect your view but I bet that you are nasty when you take the knee, it is difficult for you to act any other way, I pity you being so full of nastynes. You must have too much time on your hands now that your school holidays have started, by the way don’t forget to fill in your Prediction League forcasts pal, I remember at the start of the season saying you only joined it to try and beat me, I see that you have rightfully given up that idea ha ha! So enjoy the rest of your school holiday friend and please put your match comments after tomorrow nights two games on the Rating Marks.

fifty-pence, why should non beleivers in anything come out and look at these things that have no interest to them. My way of keepong away from them and letting them get on with it is the way that I choose to go.
You are against what I said was that it it would be fine to take their action one time, or even for a set time of say four weeks, but you say it should go on until things change, how do you want things to chage to, and who will decide when they have changed???, I never see racism taking place at football games or Formula One meetings, so what actually wants changing???

This all started when the poor guy was killed in America whilst he was being arrested, but as a result gangs went looting businesses that had been built up by inocent people, does anyone agree that this is normal and acceptable, the actual truth is that 9 black people have died as a result of police brutality, but nothing seems to be said about the fact that 56 police have been killed in duty by black criminals, but we never saw protests regarding White Lives Matter.

In my opinion (yes mine), this is being blown up out of all proportions, as a small example, we have one supporter stating that he will now enter the stadium after the players have taken the knee, and as I stated, that I have not seen any racism for many a year at football or cricket matches, and Ihave certainly attended many of them, I just think that it is time to give it a break, and that it will end up by doing more harm than good, as at Millwall last week, what will happen if the booing continues, and is still ongoing when full crouds are allawed, it could most likely end up with riots and fighting like the bad old days of many years ago.

See what I mean, Northumbiron has had a go at me even though I had not even commented on this subject, thanks for coming to my rescue Iron-awe, hope you are keeping well mate.

Please wait for my comments Northumbrion before you attack me, I am not going to take the knee mate because both my knee’s are in Grimsby Hospitals and it is too painfulto kneel with artificial knee replacements pal. Charlie Williams the first black player in the football league used to take the piss out of racist fans more than they did against him, can aany of you remember him, he was the Doncaster Rovers centre half, a good player and a right good guy, he also had a job as a comedian in the Yorkshire Clubs, but times have changed.

I appreciate that a few of you are wanting to hear my views on the issues, I have no problem with either black, white, yellow or any other colour of people, in fact I have many friends of each with working all over the world for 40 years. But I would be in agreement for this knee thing to be done once or even for a four week period, but presently is is being done at the start of every football, cricket, rugby, formula 1 racing and many pther sports, in fact it is now being rammed down supporters throats so much that you actually feel a racist if you do not wish to see it every time, I would be more happy with it if the heading was “ALL LIVES MATTER”, I often wonder how Chinese or Asian people think when they see it being performed.

It is similar to the PRIDE events and marches, I have no room for men marrying men or things like that, but have nothing against them doing their thing in either privacy, or as in Hull where they advertise their parades, so anyone like myself can just stay away and let them get on with their beleives, this way we are all happy and it is not being rammed down our throat by taking place in front of people that do not attend. Does anyone actually think that it has any effect what so ever, and if so, how??

Many will agtee with my views, but will not put anything in print because of being affrad of being classed as a racist, when all along we are not, but I do not agree with the supporter that says that he will go into the ground late, just to avoid the knee, he should just attend normally and take no notice of it taking place, after all it only lasts for about ten seconds.

Where do you getthis “Cox deserves credit for us winning a couple of games from” we have been crying out for him to play his best team, play them in their best positions, and give up those stupid systems of his and play 4-4-2. So after his record of one win in 13 matches and eight defeats on the bounce, he desedves lpts of ctedit?????????, he had taken us into bottom of the League only a couple of weeks ago, and out of all three Cup competitions, I think you need to think before coming out with thisstatement. I n all fairness he is very fortunate not to have been bladdered with that record. I hope that I am wrong guys, but after just a cpo[le of keeping the same team and system, I do not beleive rgat he can resist applying some new method of his, lets just wait and see, two good wins, but we have got to keep it up. I would have thpught that with having two games per week, management will surely have eased up a bit on training schedules on order of keeping players fit and free of training injuries.

A very god performance from the team today, probably helped by having the same team as Tuesday, and certainly by playing a 4-4–2 system. All eleven players played well thus the high marks.

HOWARD—8—Made a couple of good saves, and a bit of luck with the penatly that hit his foot.
CLARKE—8–A good game and nice to see him not getting injured, lets hope he stays fit.
McGAHEY—8—Great in midfield with his partner.
    ONARIASE–9–SOUND GAME AND VERY STRONG.
SPENCE–8—Some lovely link up play, established player.
BEESTIN–9–Great game and topped off with a good finish.
O’MALLEY–9–My MOM, he really has come on as games pass, automatic team player now.
GILLIEAD—8—Covered a lot of ground, and some clever runs.
McANEE—8—Is getting more like the player we know having some game time.
LOFT—8—Ran his self into the ground, also a good goal.
EISA—8–Not as strong as usual, but still played well, better set pieces.

REF—5—Too many mistakes by him, and could easily have spoiled the game, do not think Leyton will score him very high.

COX–8—N ice to see him select the same team and play 4-4-2, just hope he has learned and seen how things have improved by not changing things to try and play to stop the other teams, well done. No poor players with them all playing in their best positions and knowing how to perform in a 4-4-2 set up.

SO WELL DONE TEAM AND MANAGEMENT AND NOW ON TO tUESDAY, SAME AGAIN.

Nice seven Prediction League points, pity about the missed penalty or it would have been 12.

Northumbiron, when I said that our team shirts mingle with our claret and blue seating, they really make it difficult for fans at the other side of the pich to see them distinctl, this will not be the case with Derby and Fulham, because in normal times their seats are usually ocupied whilst our are usually only about 40% in use, this is a big diffence, plus our new white strip look class where as out claret looks very grim in comparison.

Northumbiron would you be saying the saME thing if you were playing in a stadium in your black kit, and all of the seating was painted black, I very much doubt it. That is what we were saying mate, but this claret and blue kit is really dull and boring in my opinion, I do respect your views on this issue.

If the manager plays our best team (like Tuesdays), and does not worry about the team we are playing, and do his normal by selecting a team to Leytons so called strengths, we would be fine, same as Sanfran has quoted many times, let them worry about us. I shall be very annoyed if Cox changes things much from Tuesday, I think that his changing things to what he thinks has failed so many times he should have learned by now, but we all know it doesn’t. Leyton are not a bad team, but certainly nothing to worry about, so if Cox just tells the lads to play like they did on Tuesday we will be fine, I say like Tuesday, but with a couple of changes, firstly for Gilliead to take our corners and set pieces, and for Howard to control his goal area and help out his defence by coming for balls that are clearly his.

Up the Iron, and a 2-1 win.

I appreciate that my eyes have deteriated a lot this year, and do not help when seeing things that are located probably 60 yards away, but I find when players have white shirts, they are far easier to pick out, so if I find this, surely players will find it easier than when their team mates are playing in dingey colours. There is a lot of truth in what Ferrite is saying about team shirts being the same colour as the seating, I have said this same thing many times, and with clubs like ours, there are usually at least 50% of seating not being used each game., in any case I still think that our shirts for away games this season are really good to look at, and would welcome a change from the drab old claret and blue, but it will never happen.

The white kit is far better than the dingey claret and blue, which I have watched for over 69 yrars… I t is far better and easier to see than the claret one, and this could be a factor on why we play so poorly in the old kit, as well as the systems that Cox keeps changing.

When fans sit at the north end of the Cluggy Stand, you have one hell of a job telling who is who when play is taking place at the Railway end, but we all know that the old strip will never be dumped, so we will need to enjoy our away games.

I agree with lots of the comments, but I am afeaid I cannot give above a 6 for Howard, for a long term experienced player, why the hell is he constantly rooted to his goal line, it must be a nihhtmare for the defence when they get no assistance in defending whilst the keeper just dtands on his line, and the first goal was his fault when beaten at the near post with an angled shot past him. Apart from this comment it was great to see the team sort of playing 4-4-2 like all supporters have been asking all season, just one comment, Eisa had a really cracking gaME APART FROM HIS TEN CORNERS NONE OF ANY BEAT THEIR FIRST MAN, WHY KICK THEM ALONG THE GROUND MAKING IT SO EASY TO CLEAR, THE MANAGER SHOULD HAVE GOT WORD THROUGH TO ORDER THAT gI;;IEAD SHOULD BE TAKING THEM.

HOWARD–6—Did not have hardly anything to do but still let in 2 goals, rooted to his line again!!!
CLARKE–7–Nice to see him back, experience beats raw youth, som3 good through balls.
    McGAHEY—8—Good soliddefence.
ONARIASE–8—Same as his partner, a very good pairing..
SPENCE–8–Worked throughout and never stopped working for the team.
BEESTIN–8–Another good mark and was involved in everything.
O’MALLEY—8–Good performance from him, good support for Eisa.
GILLIEAD—9—Really cracking game by him, he is certainly my MOM.
McATEE–8—–His best game this season, some good runs and passes, worked hard.
    LOFT—7—Ran himself into the ground
EISA–8– cracking speed and skills, would be a 10 if his corners beat their first man, take this corner duty from him.

REF—9—Very good and was not involved like some spoilers, he let the game flow.

COX—8—He selected the best team available to him, he played 4-4-2 instead of those silly stupid systems he so likes. The manager should have his goalkeeping coach and keeper into his office and tell them to sort out why the keeper stays rooted to the line for any cross ball etc, and then give Eisa a call and inform him and show him film footage of his ten rubbish corners from this game, and inform the captain that Gilliead shou;d take corners, because we are not gaining anything from any of the present balls just being passed along the ground, this team along with big Kevin when fit is our best eleven. The manager should base his selection on this.

Well done guys, a very welcolm showing from a team that was full of energy, and they showed how poor Harrogate are by attacking them and not playing to combat any strenghts of theirs, thats what we should do every game, let them worry about Scunthorpe.

My only suggestion I can make my friend is for you to join the Prediction League, but with myself being in it, you would probably stand better chance of winning, by entering Lotto ha ha!

    I fforgot
EISA—5—Continually cuts inside of the full back and never tries to go round the outside, thus he is sussed out during the first ten mins, Eisa can be a cracking player that can win matches, why the hell isn’t the manager and coaches seeing this??? I had better not answer that question,

If any player is showing signs of being a good prospect, the Scunthorpe scouting team will have them in their sights, they did that during the summer when snapping up Hippolyte and Turan before any Premier team made a move.

You are correct Iron-awe, it will be safer for me at 80 YOA to stay and see games on computer right now, but I shall be as near to the front of the line as permitted when it comes to vaccination time, and all thanks should be given to the many people that have been working on, and testing these vaccines. I wanted to join the people in Hull that were testing these out, but my famiy were dead against me doing so.

But when you say it will be safer for me to stay at home rather than go to the match, this is not probably the case, because of visiting family who insist on visiting with kids, although I do shut myself into my study when the Scunny games are shown on ifollower.

Lets hope that we all come through this terrible virus.
