Whilst we are on the subject of missing players, on visiting Scunthorpe Hospital last week I got talking to this really elderly guy, who informed me that he had played for Scunny from 1946 until 1954 and that his name was Chow Mein, he also informed me that he had been a Kamikaze Pilot in the 2nd world war, and joimed Scunny on leaving the air force, I told him that I watched Scunny from, 1951 and could not remember him playing.

I asked him how he had not been killed if he was a Kamikaze Pilot, he told me that “the reason being was because he was “Chicken Chow Mein”.

    Sorry about that guys.

Well no points again, and no really attacking play until the secomd half, so what happened to the usual Cox quote of we will plat attacking football. One good thing today was the performance of the ref, he was spot on and had full control of the match. My assessments of the players are as follows:-

HOWARD—-6—-Not a lot to do really and did not have to make any real saves.
O’MALLEY—7—Had a very good game and as stated last week, should be LB very week.
CLARKE—3—Terrible game, many poor passes, caught out a few times, and was really bad.
TAFT—N/A—Onlt on for 9 min then injured.
McGAHEY—Not as strong as normal, but been out injured, first goal maybe his fault.
GILLIEAD—8—My MOM, and only him and KVV wanted to run at Cheltenham. good workrate.
SPENCE–6–Did ok without being a stand out.
KARACAN–6—Got by same as Spence but mid-field not very active first half.
GREEN–4—Did very little throughout the game, should have scored, not good enough.
KVV—7—Got through a lot of work with being out for so long, could have scored.
TOFT—4—Back to how he was in Sep to Nov, did not seem bothered.

    Subs —ONARIASE–7–, BEESTIN—5—, EISA—5—, HALLAM—5—

REF—-9—Very good ref, got things right.

Cox—5—Where was the attacking football first half???, didn’t do too bad because we were actually playing a good team today. Clarke and Green should have been subbed at half time.

We had a few good chances, but in general was second best to the Cheltenham team, we are still not out of the relegation scrap, and can still be sucked into it.

I feel that a draw will be the result tomorrow, we don’t do 0-0 draws, so I will go for a 2-2 draw. One of Cheltenhams goals will be the result of a penaty, as long as it really should be a pemalty tat will be ok, but another like the two previouse penalties would just about finish me off with football.

So 2-2 and a really enjoyable game, so just hope the manager does not build the team to try and stop Cheltenham from playing, it never works, so lets go for a wim., and probably end up drawing.

It was another case of blatant cheating, he was after a penalty and got one, last week we had two players running side by side on the edg of the pemalty area, going nowhere, then their guy decided todrop to the ground trying for a penalty, he got one, while in both cases they should have got yellow cards instead of penalties.

This used to be common in the Italian League years ago, then it spread into our Premier League due to so many foreigb players coming here, now it is the done thing in our lower leagues, its a bit like Covid-19, it has spread very quickly, the big problem is that Refs are tht crap nowadays, they all fall for this divibg, and are only too pleased to go along with it. That player last Saturday continued to dive and fall down throughout the match, but was still on the pitch at the end of the game.

We always play too defensive football, it seems thatthis has been the way ever since the Christmas when Alexander threw away promotion to the Championship when promotion was on a plate, then that 3 points from 9 matches happened when he changed our playing style, we have been like that ever since.

So why were we frightened of having a go against Bolton today, because we just sat back and let them play in our half for 90% of the first half.

Well, another cheetingpenalty against us by the cheeting twat of a player, and another ref that had been a homer during the full first half, he gave Bolton ecerything he possibly could do. We had been outplayed during that first half. but would still have been lecel if iy had not been for that sickener.

Three changes at half time made a big improvement, and we held our own and probably shaded the second half, I cannot understand why Howard did not deal with the cross that they got the penalty off, it just went in front of im whikst he siood rooted to his bloody line as usual.

HOWARD—5—Not a lot to do really, but should have cut out their 1st goal.
ROWE—6—Did ok and could hve stayed on for the 2nd half.
BEDEAU–5–We missed Orariase in the centre of defence.
TAFT–7—Had a good game and worked hard.
BROWN—5—Nothing special tonight, half time sub was about right.
KARACAN—5—Not very good today, not involved enough, matbe injured?.
GREEN—4—Never really involved, had a poor game.
BEESTIN—6– Hot and cold, caught in posession a time or two.
GILLIEAD—9—MOM, easy to select, our only danger during 1st half.
EISA—3—Never beat his man once, no usual runs, and did nothing all game.
LOFT—6—Worked very hard, but with Eisa and Green up front he had no chance.

KVV—8—Played very well and good to see him back playing.
O’MALLEY—6—Played ok, and should be starting games.
McGAHEY–Also glad to see him back, and hope to pair him with Oraniase when fit.
    CLARKE & SPENCE—6—OK

REF—3—Bloody terrible, and a cheet, spoiled the game along with those two tossers the were comentating on I-FOLLOWER.

cox—6—c OULD NOT DO MUCH MORE REALLY EXCEPT REPLACE eISA AT HALF TIME.

Did not turn up during the firsthalf, but still should have gone in 0-0, but we still do not seem to want to attack teams and are too bloody defensive.

I think that the lads were a bit rusty after no match for three weeks, but after saying that, I think that they did enough to deserve the three points, but I am glad that the diver did not go un-noticed by a few of you guys, and as you say, how the hell did he avoid a yellow card which should have been followed by a red, because he never relented in his diving and constnt cheeting.

I am looking forward to Tuesday night, wish I could be there, but I cannot see us getting access at all during this season.

I just cannot believe that so many Scunny fans are saying that we where poor today and it was a poor match, Harrogate came to Scunny today being the form team of League Two, and had scored good points in their last 4 or 5 matches, we had not played for three weeks and although they should be full of energy, match practice was very short for our team, so although Harrogate probably had more possesion, I think that they did not make many goal scoring chances, Scunny scored three cracking goals and Harrogate scored a penalty which was never a penalty in ten years, it was a result of their player taking one of his twenty dives during the game.

    My player ratings for todayare:-

HOWARD—-7—Nothing much to do really, but looked ok.
CLARKE—7–Playe well enough and overlapped a lot in 1st half.
BROWN–7–A bit shakey first 15 min, but played very well after that’
BEESTIN–7–Solid match an got stuck in, played well.
TAFT—8—I like this player, gets through a lot of work and is quick.
GILLIEAD–8—As usual worked very hard, some good runs and crosses.
ONARIASE–9—As usual, my MOM, he plays well every game, a very good signing.
KARACAN—8—Played well on his return to the team, he will be a good asset.
GREEN–7–Started well for 15 mins, then faded badly and went missing for long spells.
LOFT—7—Ran his socks off and was knackered when subbe, some need passes.
EISA—7—Well I do not know what to say, a couple of good runs, but some terrible passes.

    subs—BEDEAU, HALLAM—7—SPENCE AND KEVIN–8–.

REF—7—Di ok apart from that terrible penalty he gave them, also should have restrickted their constant diving, but in generl kept the game going and we have had a lot worse.

COX—8—Did well today, but we could do with a bit more play in the other half of the pitch, funy how no part played by Rowe and O’Malley, but at least there is no signs of Turan and Hippolyte, but where was McAtee???

In general, a very good three points and four wins on the bounce, and it should have been four clean sheets also, because it was spoiled by that stupid penalty.

Northumbiron, You say that you didn’t bother when you knew all five games had been called off on Saturday, if that had been the case there wouldn’t be any questions??, but you know as well as we do pal, all five were not postponed, the Scunny game went ahead and was abandoned after 28 mins, in the past when games were abandoned for some reason, be it snow, fog or any other reason, the score at the time of abandonment counted, it is entirely different to a game that is postponed and does not even start.

No points have ever been awarded for postponed games Mike.

Sorry, it should have read the Scunthorpe v Bradford match which was abandoned after 28 minutes, in such cases the score at the time normally counts, only postponed matches are usually void.

Don’t mention orange ball and orange lines, or were they blue lines🤔 back in the 70’s we played Rochdale at the OSG and lost 4-0. They had four shots and scored four goals, we just slid around on our arses for 90 minutes. No more of that orange ball milarky thank you very much.

I was at that game Iron-awe, it was Christmas week and Rochdale hadn’t won an away game for nearly two bloody years, me and two of my ons were in the Donny road end and snow was swirling into our faces, I vividly remember saying to them, “what the hell are we doing in this weather”, yes 4-0 was the result, that was one of my all time lows in my 69 years of following Scunny.

They did right to call the game off when they did, it was very difficult to see the play with the white ball, white snow, and Bradford playing in a white strip.

Not much chance of conditions getting any better.

I cannot see any reason why we cannot make it four on the trot, Oldham are only an average team at the most, and I see a win, followed by a much harder game against Bradford on Tuesday weather permitting. I go for 2-1 tomorrow followed by a 3-1 defeat against Bradford, I hope I am wrong, but we will see how things turn out.

DANGER TIME!! Kloppo is looking for a CB in the £80m price bracket and is struggling to find one. I guess we’d let Manny go for close to that.
    PS to do list asap:-
New contracts for Onariase, Rowe, Karacan, Gilliead
    Sign Taft
    Go for it Peter.

Not far off with that list Cass, it would be a good move, and then get rid of a bit of the dead wood that will never be good enough for league football.

So pleased to see B.S’s. players’ marks again.

Cheers inspector, yes mate I think it is good to get the views of the different supporters, I was a bit sad that there was no support when doing them, but there are a few that liketo see the commenrs. Regarding the ref mate, I thought that he was a right homer, and gave Colchester everything he possibly could, and the bloody linesmen were just has bad, I was just pleased that he did not blow up for the two penalty box happenings, I know they were definately not penalties, but expected this bloody ref to give one, the way he had been performing. And you may be right regarding Tft, he is a player that gets on with things, and maybe a lot of his hard work goes a bit unnoticed, but the defence seems a lot more compact and strengthened when he is playing, I gave him a 6, probably a 7 would be better.

The club scouting team have made some very bad signings during the past two years, but whoever spotted or scouted this guy really made a killing for us, he is a complete centre half, and is brilliant to watch him lay, he gives 100% all the time, hiswork rate is top class, and he never gives up when faced by attacking players, I just hope we can keep him. I don’t know what contract he is on, but the clb should get him tied into a long term good deal, I just wish that he had a simple first name, because you do not like using his family name as reference.

Yes Heathy, tings have ceertainly looked up for the club and for us supporters, but although we are only 6 points off play off’s, other teams have games in hand, and we have a few difficult gamws coming up, but it good to see the lads having a real go. Yes Spence played well when he came on, but I did not really include any of the subs, but they played ok.

Well done guys, you played to win and sure got there, so 9 points in seven days has given us some reward for sticking with them.

The ref was pathetic and gave Colchester ererything he possibly could, and what he didn’t give them the two shite linesmen did.

I think that all Scunny players played very well, except Green who gave the ball away nearly every time he got it, so my ratings for the lads are:-

HOWARD—-7—-Did well and is looking a bit more safe.
brown–6—keeps getting booked and no need for it.
TAFT—6—Has added strength to the defence since he came..
ONARIASE—10—He was brilliant again, and played as perfect game as possible.
ROWE—8—Played very well and should be picked every match.
GILLIED—8—Again had a very good game.
GREEN—5—Lost or gave the ball away too many times.
BEESTIN—8—Again a very good match from him, controlled the link up well.
    KARACAN.—6—Started the game well.
EISA—7—Abit hot and cold, but must play more often and get game time.
LOFT—7—Again never stopped working and is getting better each game.

REF–4—Bloody terrible, very much a home ref and gave them everything, his linesmen were just as bloody bad.

COX—7—Got most things right, but still insist on defending a one goal lead, but credit to him for 9 points this week, I myself suggested bringing Green into the team tonight, but he was terrible and was rightly subbed.

Keep it going guys, you are doing well right now.

I am with Cass and Sanfran on this, I know that it will not happen, but Cox must go for three points tonight, we are playing a team that has not won a game in their last EIGHT matches, so why must some of our fans say that a draw will be a good result.

Three games in a week should be fine for professional players, and surely the manager and coaches have eased right back on training sessions, and it will be the same for both teams who have both played the 3 matches this week, I hope that young Loft is not left up front by himself, he cannot be expected to run his arse off like he had to during that second half on Tuesday, put him up front with another player, possibl a youngster who has been playing well in the under 23s, or Green could be a good move.

Well summed up MK Iron, you have now lost the donkey status ha ha!, but the one error you made was saying that Port Vale are an ok side, look at their record pal and they have won ONE game out of their last THIRTEEN matches, and that was against the mighty mariners from Grimsbt, qnd the fact that even Scunny completed the double over them, so you are now mule status ha ha!

What we do know BS is that we have kept a clean sheet for 2 games at home for the first time in the best part of 3 years (thanks to Iron Stats for that information).

Don’t much care for the second half tactics myself either but we can only criticise it when it doesn’t work.

Get the boys in a socially distanced ice bath and let’s go for 9 points in 6 days at Colchester on Friday.

By the way BS is Loft still a donkey?

No MK Iron, that status has moved from him to yourself’ it is so easy to crow after the event has played out, it worked out this time, but think back to a few earlier games when it was a complete failure, do you not think that if we had carried on like the fist half that we would have not still won ?????, we will never know mate, but did you enjoy the second half ?

Lets hope for another win on Friday, Colchester are not doing very well, so go for three more points.

Well, three more points thanks to the defence, but why did Cox change it to 5-4-1 just after half time, and conceed the ball and possesion to a poor Port Vale team, after we had outplayed them so easily first half, he got away ith it this time, but he wants shafting for such move, and why did he leave young Loft on till the 983rd min seeing that he was out on his feet, Cox has been manager for over 25 matches now, but does let appear to learn a bloody thing.
Well done to the players, and I would give a rating mark of 7 to all players apart from a 8 to O’Malley, Onariase, Gilliead and my MOM Loft, who needs someone up front with him, instead of being alone, he played very well today and the first of his two goals was a cracker. For a Scunny fan, there were far to many balls coming into our box swcond half, it is far easier playing a bit of attacking play instead of all dropping back into our own area, get a bloody grip Cox.

Howard and Loft must have won over one or two posters today but they might need to do it again on Tuesday just to be sure.

Cass, Why do you think that these two had good games ??, in reality Howard didn’t really have a save to make, yes I must agree that he didn’t make his usual howler, and he was actually spotted off his goal line, but nothing to thrill about. And Toft ran an ran for the full match, and must have covered about twenty miles on the day, but every header of his went to Grimsby players, or he missed three headers completely, and also missed an open goal, plus his so called goal was really a Grimsby players own goal. but funny thing is that for some reason “if a Scunny player, dashes all over the pitch like a mad man, he is classed by some Scunny fans as having a good game”.

Who did have good games were Gilliead my MOM and Onariase who shon out for me, there runs were with the ball, not just cross country runs.

Anyway good to see our team collect three points, but Grimsby are really dier, and the ref was just as bad, 36 free kicks was a joke, and every time a Grimsby got near a man, he usually took a dive and the ref boight it throughout the full 90 mins, Tuesdays match should be just as easy, because Port Vale are as bad as Grimsby, so please play at least two or even three up front and improve our goal difference.

    I am a 12th man and I will NOT be watching !

Being treat with contempt again, so why bother. Really feel for those players who get zero opportunity yet some senior pro’s seem to have ego’s & tantrums and certainly no interest get selected time and again.

The forgotten faces would battle those that should know better can’t be bothered.

Hell Sanfran, I was shocked when you said that you were 12th man, I thought for a minute that
you would have been on the bench ha ha!, although you would probably be an improvement on Turan, Loft and Hippolyte, and you may do better if put in goal, at least you would come off your goal line. I was just thinking mate, although we do not pay extra with being season ticket holders, I am actually paying double this season, with also paying for all away games as well, and actually paid twice for one home match, when not entering a code number, just think, paying double for a Scunny match, but calmed down when the bank statement came a few weeks after the match. I was just thinking Sanfran, you woulsn’t last long if you were playing, two yellow cards for mouthingthe ref and linno!!!

I would think that it will be the same old, same old tale, watching defensive rubbish, with our team set up with one up front, possibly Turan ha ha! and probably two shots on target, why should supporters think any other way.

I forcast a 0-0 draw, but after saying that, with our keeper, we do not useually do zero’s, another loss will certainly point to our relegation from the football league, that being my worst nightmare, but after following our team since day one (70 years ago), it will be a very sad end. Even with Mr Swanns again turning away from what we are all seeing, week afyer week, we are a very poor team in a very poor league, but with us not able to beat any of the lowwr teams, why should we not be thinking of relegation. We have a terrible squad of players, our injuries are always long term events, our manager has no clue how to change things, and the two clowns standing with him on the touch line make up his brilliant management team, our summer signings are a joke, and we have a 23 year old boy in charge of transfers, yes another part of the joke. The Chairmanm blames Covid-19 for the clubs present situation, so no other districts in the UK have an signs of Covid, so how can we believe when the press are telling us that our area is in the top five for being lowest in the country, ho by the way, Swanns other excuse for our inept pathetic on field performances is that clubs in this league produce poor pitches, does he need reminding that we do not do so bad when away on these poor playing surfaces, but are worse than pathetic on our own pitch, and our home record is beyond being pathetic with TWO WINS IN FIFTEEN MATCHES.

The club is in need of a very big clearout of all the dead wood, which would hardly leave anyone remaining, us supporters have not deserved this after so many years, but the sad thing is that those in so called charge think there are no problems, do they need reminding that we are sitting in the bottom three in league two, and have a terrible aquad of players and management, and the clubs debt is possibly over £12 million pounds, and assets are now owned by the loans from the Chairmans company.

No matter who says what on this forum, the facts are “the club is in big trouble”, and for all to see nothing is being actioned to change this situation, I can vividly remember Mr Swann stating on TV a couple of years ago when we were struggling in League One, “there is no chance of the club being relegated into League Two”, his same statement is again beinf brandished by him, and what makes things worse is the fact that this present team is a lot worse than that one, how can he say that when we are playing shite every game, and getting turned over by all the other bottom poorteams. It is obviouse that Cox hasn’t a bloody clue what to do, and how to stop the rot, who does he turn to? Lillis, Musslewhite of Swanns son (awaywego) ??.

You cannot really blame Peter Swann, he could not have asked any more easy questions if he had prepared them himself, the trouble was from the start, Matt is too nice a guy to be given the job of asking and selecting the questions, we all knew what it would be like, just as the forums at GP are, or should have said were.

With the football club being in the state it is and has been for over three years, it should have been the easiest job in the world to throw the questions at him that supporters are wanting answers to.

Every present aspect of our club is in tatters.
    1. Club finances.
    2. Quality of the present squad of players.
    3. The size of the squad of over 30 players.
    4. The complete lack of entertainment being served up for over 3 years.
    5. Why the defensive set up even when home to crap teams.
    6. Why do we insist on playing with only one up front player.
    7. Who selected to bring in all these sub-standard players?.
    8. Who will be choosing any future incoming players.
    9. N Lincs Covid record being so good how can you use it as excuse for our record?
    10. Do you not feel that you have lost many loyal season ticket holders, after 2020?
    11. With a record of two wins in 15 Homre games, what more can the manager do to get sacked?
    12. With a squad of over 30 players, how can we not have at least 1 keeper and centre forward
    13. Is there any need for an under 23 team, withit being Jan and only played 3 matches?
    14. How much longer can the clunb survive with no money coming in?
    15. Do you not think we are overloaded with all the managers, asst managers, coaches etc.
    16. How many more matches like the present one’s are you to put up with ?????

After the 2 new stadiums, 1 ground re-furbishment, 160 appartment construction, Championship football ambition, what are next seasons carrots awauting to be dangled at the season ticket holders, and loyal supporters. the only one I can think of is the offer of seeing new visiting teams from Chorley and Dover etc.
