I agree, it needs absolute clarity, this – and everyone uniting behind one organisation. What the situation really does not need is well-meaning do-gooders all thinking they have the right idea, and contacting people, celebrities, agencies, organisations, businesses independently of ‘the group effort’.

I think this is a noble idea, but I don’t think you can get this funding if your organisation is limited by shares. Also, these things take a long time to come to fruition – and time is something Scunthorpe United FC really does not have.

What’s the score with this company coming in referred to in the club statement? Am I right in thinking Hilton is choosing and appointing them? I know someone’s going to be opening the door to the cellar but who’s it going to be?

That’s actually a really interesting point. You’d hope that whichever company comes in is ‘independently appointed’ by the remaining Directors, rather than risk the possibility of a company either closely associated with Wham (or obscurely connected to him) coming in at his beckoning. I’m afraid that under the circumstances and after months of gaslighting would not trust that one iota.

You’d hope that at this point, the stage we’re at, Wham actually has zero to do with the club in anything other than name(s).

It would be, at this point, good to hear a statement from Peter Swann relating his side of his dealings with Mr Hilton. We got the one earlier in the year but I think another is crucial at this point.

Finding somebody Swann respects could be the most difficult task.

To appeal to Swann’s better nature will take a concerted effort by a multi-agency party, imho. Iron Trust, Council Leaders, MP, Ian Botham (?) etc.

The cost of demolition etc would be accounted for, and I imagine there would be a ‘demolition discount’ built in to any sale – but the land package value without the club there is significantly higher.

None. The only value is to SUFC. Safe to assume that the stadium will be worthless and redundant when the club goes bust (soon). The redevelopment value of the land GP is on is far higher without it there, and that is the key thing. Swann or whoever buys the whole land package will see that it is razed.

Perhaps the land around GP represented great opportunities to fund a pot to piss in, and it was always going to be (the club) taking one step forward then three steps back and so on and so on, until things got to the point where the land was developed and paying off? We may never really know.

There’s some truth to this – but don’t say you’ve bought and paid for a football club and a ground when you haven’t got the money – and don’t behave in such an aggressive and unprofessional manner. Hilton is as responsible as Swann, imho.
