Very complementary on the whole and expect us to be promoted with are squad size and money spent.
Danny Whitehall does get quite some stick for falling over a tad easy on occassion :)
Everyone comments on why Butters is playing at this level – and most moan about the standard of referees :)
    UTI

Fair enough points, I think – though I myself haven’t noticed Whitehall going over that much – certainly no more than any other target man.

I do try and get the away Commentary but not always available at this level – nice to get their view of how we are performing.

That’s an interesting way round of doing it, hadn’t thought of that. What’s been the general consensus so far this season?

Good vocal support from the few Gloucester fans, well done.
Noticed that they sang out for Gloucestershire, as other fans have their own county, I may have missed it but I haven’t heard Lincolnshire being sung out by our fans since 1974. What a bad decision it was to create the hated Humberside.

“Panic on the streets of Carlisle, Dublin, Dundee, North Lincolnshire” wouldn’t have had quite the same ring to it, though.

I do find it a little weird as didn’t Elliot said himself he was looking to be on the board and gave the impression that he was already a director.

Not sure what’s going on there !

Almost certainly a condition of Directorship that you have to put money in. Elliott hasn’t put any of his own money in. As ever, he’s elevated his own profile by riding on the financial coattails of others. Like the whole Sharp / Elliott thing last Christmas / New Year. It was only Sharp that had funds.

He’s brought in significant advertising revenue over the years. If he doesn’t have spare cash to put in (and I guess not many do) then he’s doing what he can to help the Club. Can’t see why his contribution seems to upset one or two.

So you’ve actually put more of your own cash in than Elliott, yet you don’t fist-pump and heart-slap to incite an ego-stroke from the crowd.

Bringing in advertising money is great, but it’s no short-cut to sainthood, imho.

Simon Eeliot still not a director at Companies House.
I find that a bit strange given his fist pumping, chest beating performance on the pitch a month ago.
He should either sign up and commit to the club like the rest of the board or simply be stripped of his privileges.

He doesn’t actually have any money to put in, imho. Reputation over the years built on the back of someone else’s dollar. Involvement is about the kudos and maintaining profile of the Elliott ‘brand’.

    AKA The King’s Speech…..

King Charles said the Football Governance Bill, which will introduce a regulator, will “safeguard the future of football clubs for the benefit of communities and fans”.

A strengthened owners’ and directors’ test is part of the plan.

The regulator also aims to prevent historic clubs going out of business, and give fans greater input.

    About blooming time!

Doesn’t this proposed bill only cover the first five steps of league football? I haven’t had the time to look into it properly and read further, so may be wrong – but I’m sure that’s what I read in brief.

I watched online, with BBC RH commentary. It was a good first half – a super performance and two superb goals. The second half was a little less fun, perhaps because Banbury seemed to alter their shape which knocked United out of their stride a little bit. All in all, though, a very successful and entertaining evening.

It is not the end of the world but it’s not much fun to watch after spending 2 hours plus each way and a fair wadge of cash to attend.

Seen all league away matches so far this season and it hasn’t been enough to inspire me to travel to Blyth and Banbury for the next two.

Hopefully I am the jinx and we actually play a bit of football in those 2 games.

I’ll probably still suffer the RH commentary Saturday and the livestream on Tuesday.

Forgive my naivety, but has anyone worked out a way to watch the Saturday livestreams when based in the UK?

Can someone please put some meat on the bones for those of us who aren’t local / in the UK and don’t have the ‘inside info’ like some are privy to.

Basically fans64 doesn’t like max bell

Seemed to me the comment was more all-encompassing than just Max Gong (who I don’t believe was at that pow-wow anyway). Elliott, for one, had things to say but is now bland-charming and politicking his way away from taking ownership of his words.

How can it be a missed opportunity if the smoking goat have bought the tickets at full price to almost give away (small donation required) for key workers and service personnel with the donations going to Scunny.

This sums it up perfectly. How this gesture can even begin to be questioned is beyond me ?. People are questioning if it has any long term benefit but I suggest you just take it for what it is.

You have a local business “catering company” who happens to cater for us and they’re looking to get involved by buying 500 tickets out of their own pockets to give to people who wouldn’t necessarily come otherwise with the proceeds/donations coming the clubs way.

Swann and Hilton needed to be questioned but this doesn’t.

I thought this would have been celebrated instead of questioned. Baffles me at times this forum !

I don’t think anyone is questioning the gesture, more the nuts and bolts of how it will work out there in the real world.

It is HIS money and it is what HE wants to do to help the club. So it is up to him.

We all know what encourages people to come along regularly, and playing at National League North level doesn’t!

Winning 6-0 & 6-1 may be a lever but that’s not going to happen every game.

Classic Catch 22. We need to be higher up the FL Pyramid to get the crowds but to get there we need better attendance now!

I think the home crowd is probably about maxed out (ie. about as much as it’s ever going to be in League One, League Two, National League or National League North). The issue is actually the away attendances. This season we can’t yet have had 1,000 through the turnstile in total?

It’s a very bold gesture by The Smoking Goat people, but perhaps a little bit OTT? Aim big, sure – but a hundred or, pushing it, two-hundred and fifty tickets is surely more realistic a figure than a thousand? I mean if we’re thinking about giveaways that will actually be used…

I would argue that this is more likely to replace people who would normal pay full price anyway, not sure it’s going to grow the crowd much. I look forward to being proven wrong on that score.

You may be right, but they need to try every idea they can think of and see how it goes.

It’s a nice idea but I think this ticket promotion for the Gloucester City match is a real missed opportunity…

… Hopefully we’ll see some more promotions in the coming weeks on top of this one to grow the fanbase and benefit the club.

You’ve said it yourself, though – hopefully there will be more of this sort of thing.

Just having a general ‘£5 tickets’ promo isn’t as immediately attention-grabbing as ‘key workers for a fiver’ (and, in weeks to come, ‘students for a fiver’ etc).

It needs a demographic to be marketed to. Good effort, imho.

Hopefully the share capital that all the directors should have put in should cover it,that’s how it normally works unless there’s a sole owner, then if one drops out and wants their investment back it’s not such a hard blow to a club, if being sustainable means us having to get 3/4 thousand crowds week in week out then it’s not for me, well until we’re a league team at least.

We’re in a period where absolutely everyone needs to put their money where their mouth is, and the Directors are being honest about it. There is a serious underlying message of “use it or lose it”.

They mean absolutely everyone needs to put their money where their mouth is. From the casually interested, to those who never go but claim the town needs a football club, to the businesses that ‘might’ sponsor a game or the matchball… and right up to those who haven’t put in but want to operate at Boardroom level and enjoy the glory reflected from that…

I am glad Ironbru didn’t go, it was like a dagger into the heart of decency seeing those snides who haven’t once apologised for their part in dog whistles that led to so much abuse looking like the cat that got the cream. Let’s face it ,had Matt B not let them ride on his coat tails with the fund raiser that he did everything for they’d be dead in the water . I’m not as forgiving as Matt btw

Classic case of wallpapering over misdeeds, imho. Fitting that Elliott has at the head of the table.

It could easily have been 10-0.

Apart from being a really good player Clunan is continually giving instructions and pointing at what other players should be doing in. He does as much good on the ball as off it. It looked like he had something to say to Whitehall first half when a move broke down due to a bad touch by him. A proper captain.
Jimmy was there in the dugout and occasionally stood near the touch line.

I do think that on-the-field direction is what has been lacking. They’ve been playing some good stuff – tippy tappy, all very nice… often seemingly without purpose. We’ve lacked a leader.

    Prediction for tonight:

A poor performance. Decent but increasingly frustrating tippy tappy and no engine room.

Scunthorpe United 0 Spennymoor Town 2

Very happy to be wrong, of course… but it should have been 10-0 last night.

very interesting and hopefully positive news in the coming days .. how do members feel about the possibility GP being renamed THE NEW SHOWGROUND ??

The ground should have been called this in the first place, when we moved.
