Having supported them for almost 60 years now, my jaundiced view is pretty much set in stone.
This club has always seemed to set it’s supporters up just to knock us back again.
They get going, then disappoint.
Lack of ambition? Planned relegation? Piss-poor business management skills? Who knows. But no-one should make the mistake of thinking that I actually like, enjoy, or approve of the predicament we’ve been put in by Swann’s stupidity, ego and broken promises.
I’m as devastated as the next man.But even if we escape this season, I will NEVER forgive Swann for turning us from a club others looked up to, into a laughing stock.
Nor will I EVER either believe, or trust the guy again. And nor should any sensible supporter.
He’s had his chance, messed up, and if he had even one shred of decency, he would give back the ground and land, and walk away, taking his useless rude family with him.
Sell the club for £1, and give us back our belief.

I think a huge part of that is because clueless pillocks behind the scenes were choosing players when they had absolutely no idea who or what we actually needed.
You can tell now that Hill has free reign to bring his own players in and I suspect even if we go down that the squad will be more than competitive. Hill is staying here as part of a long term project which is only good news.
Most have been signed on short contracts, so what’s the chance they’d stay to play non league footy?
There’s optimism, then there’s soft.
Alcy, thanks for posting this. The Cod is spot on. This is not a dig at you, but a few days ago you posted that you fell out with Wharton because he lacked ambition. A poster listed Wharton’s achievements against the lack of achievements by Swann.
The above article explains where we are due to being over ambitious, yet Wharton achieved without us tumbling down the league after relegation from the Championship.
Confused!!
I’m pretty sure I actually wrote that Wharton SEEMED to lack ambition.
I based this assumption on more than one observation.
First off, his apparent reluctance to fund decent signings. “We tried but the lad didn’t want to come”, and the joke about 50p and a half eaten toffee didn’t come from nowhere.
Second, the unseemly haste with which any half-decent player was sold on, and his acceptance of low offers just to get some money in. We NEVER looked like keeping decent players for another season or so, just to see where they might have got us, and to allow the paying, and long suffering supporters chance to see a quality player in an Iron shirt.
Third, his apparent reluctance to try and fund success, (see 2, above), while the supporters paid and paid, week in, week out.
And lastly, the almost obscene haste with which teams that had reached the Championship were dismantled.I’m not going to mention what really got up my nose, since I’ve recently mentioned it on here and the thread was removed. Seems we are still favouring fear over the truth.
Let’s see. I reckon we’ll know where we are in about 6 or 7 games time Alcy. If you’re correct then enjoy it. If not .. then I certainly will.
See, this is your problem
You seem to believe that anyone criticising our club either isn’t a supporter, or, worse, is happy with the mess we are in.
It’s called a straw man argument.
look it up and learn something. If by some miracle we stay up, what’s to stop Swann from doing much the same to us again…and again and again?
Swann out!

Why would anyone want the players we need shut of? Are Billy Smarts or Chipperfields in town and in need of clowns?

‘Ooh it’s a corner!’. I remember a teacher saying that before I started going to the OSG regularly. Never did hear it myself, must have died out, but his rendition didn’t do it any favours!
Also, “In the net! In the net! In the net!”
This as our man took the corner kick.

Let’s all do Matt a favour now and draw a line in the sand eh? Use the forum without reference to past issues and rehashing grudges? There are more important things Iron related to be concerned about and no one needs to keep seeing all this tit for tat and division.
Works for me.
But judging by the snide, and often downright nasty, comments on this thread even before NFR comes back, I dont hold out any hope for it.
Nor do I have much faith that our friend will moderate it fairly, if at all.
But we’ll see.I used to follow away games on BBC Ceefax.
Still probably one of the most exciting ways to follow a game.
The screen would update every thirty seconds or so, and if anyone in your division had scored it would revert back to top of the page!
Then you had to scroll down to see if it was us, while hoping it wasn’t the opposition.Exciting times.

Swann’s the former, the club will be the latter.

It’s a frigging forum. People have different opinions. There is no such thing as an “average user”!
Posting multiple repetitive videos with no discussion adds zero balance. It’s spam.
When will Alcy realise that it’s not unusual to find that at least 6 football supporters who grew up in the steel town of Scunthorpe in the 60s, 70s and 80s are also supporters of the Labour party.
Neither is it unusual to find more than 6 Iron supporters and forum members from the same background who don’t support the Labour party.
The forum is free for all to comment. Just because you don’t agree with some of the posts, is not a reason to spam with the purpose of closing it down.
Hopefully the mods will deal with you if you do it again and quickly boot you off!
The cancel culture I spoke of earlier.
You cannot help yourself can you boy?I say again: If you have the right to post your lefty liberal rubbish, then I must have the right to post whatever I want to, whenever I want to do so.
Who are you to say I should be cancelled, removed, booted off, because you dont like my posts?
If you don’t like, ignore.
And grow up.Yes, I am only being a tease. :-)
Hopefully, if alcy actually wants to put forward his views he can do so in a more sensible manner. Have specific threads where each corresponding video goes in, instead of endless spam of separate threads. :-) There would be no issue there for me.
I don’t care if you have issues or not.
Your input to this thread so far shows you up stiff. And the responses of others do not lead me to believe that ANYTHING will change.
No-one has learned anything. So be it.Maybe if everyone committed to less political based posts and starting threads on different topics, that might help? There was a time this used to happen.
This.
See, this guy gets it.
But we’ll see.….says the guy along with BJ who probably got it shut down in the first place, I expect the new moderators to have teeth and use them.
Was done on purpose, as I TRIED to explain in an earlier thread.
But explaining “fair” to lefties is like knitting fog blindfold.
Witness the above.Hopefully the new mods can close down the alcy and Big J far right cinema club if it restarts. :-)
In that case, I hope they will also close down all the myriad far left posts from the usual suspects?
Be advised that if it once again spirals into look-at-me leftyism, with no balance, it will be of little use to the average user.
Two things to note, then, please.
It must be even handed. The average reader/user does NOT want to read thread after thread slagging off the right and defending, or extolling the virtues of the left. No matter your political leanings.
Adding balance does NOT mean that, if there are already six left-leaning threads in existence, a user must also add a left-leaning thread for every right-leaning thread/post. He will need to add SIX right leaning threads/posts.
And is ready and willing to do so.I trust this meets with your approval, Matt, and that ANY moderators will uphold the rights of both left AND right to post whatever, and whenever, they like, so long as legal?
This will lead to many others being willing to use the forum, and less of the cancel culture.
Thankyou.
Yeah, nah.
As the Aussies say.
We’re down.
Start preparing now.
Spend no more, get rid of all dross, and prepare for a good FEW seasons non league.
I dont think I’ll live to see us back.Hill won’t last another month.
He’s seen Swann’s dishonesty first hand.
“We won’t sell Loft without a replacement lined up.”Bang! Gone.
I’ll pay off the loan if necessary.
Aye.

I have to admit I wanted Wharton gone.
He seemed to lack ambition, was far too quick to sell on promising players without giving the club chance to profit not just financially, and the cronyism, whereby direcors paid in a low nominal sum, then got free football and free food, drink etc for life, drove me to distraction, since I was struggling to fund my attendance. So yes, I wanted him gone…for all the RIGHT reasons.
But I never foresaw this piece of excrement making the utter male danglies of the club that he has.
I was, however, one of the first to see through his sham, his untruths and his empty promises.
So what am I apologising for?
Where was I wholly wrong?1 user thanked author for this post.

Loft is on the western front, parlez vous?
Loft is on the western front, parlez vous?
Loft is on the western front,
give us a gun and I’ll shoot the…man, inky pinky parlez vous.Allegedly.
Both of you have either not read, or failed to understand, my words.
Wasted my time. I thought you were genuinely interested. My bad. You’ve learned nowt.
It needs to stay gone.
The insult from siderite just shows what we are up against.1-3 Newport.
At least most of our near rivals have difficult games too, so we ought not to drop any further back.
Going back to the OP, the saddest thing for me is Neville making a fuss on air because a “big club” is in the mire.
Where was he when Bury expired? Silent.
To mention them now to make his point is poor show.If the non football forum ever came back Alcy, would you intend to just post 5-6 videos on threads per day or actually discuss views you don’t agree with, like you used to?
Rather depends on the format and content.
If it were as it was, I’d be inclined to spam it to hell.
If it, and some of the members, showed reform, an understanding that others’ views just MIGHT be as valid as theirs, and some restraint, I’d be happy to go along.
But while it was as it was, no thanks.
The final straw for me was when several on here started trying to get other members cancelled. Why don’t you just say what it was you said to him Alcy. It’ll save time.
‘It had the desired effect, eventually, esp. when BigJ etc joined in.’
So you’re pleased with yourself for encouraging that to happen and the board getting out of hand? There’s occasional provocation and bad language (I’m guilty of that I admit) and there’s spamming to the extent where you and a few others destroy it.
I just got fed up with the constant left/liberal bias, the obsession with woke ideas, racism, mysoginy etc, and the way certain users ganged up on anyone who posted anything that didn’t suit the woke/left agenda, sometimes to the extent of vile insults. Which a certain moderator allowed to stand.
If you look back, to well before Sun-Return, I did try to start a few threads of local/social interest, but they were treated to mockery, the usual insults and exhortations to stick to wokeism, to the seemingly agreed agenda.
It seemed to me that NF was already out of control, the content being dictated by a few, leading the many to leave it alone.
I am a member of quite a few forums, where we discuss all sorts of stuff, usually amicably, where others’ views are respected, whether agreed with or not, and where others’ rights to hold those views is paramount.
It’s called freedom of speech. The NF on here had none of that. I’m glad it’s gone.
Sorry. He’s already got it from me: I’m dedicated to staying away until the odious fat man has gone.

Excellent post Deerey.
So, UTI99, over to you.

I’m all for fairness, but was roundly mocked for adding balancing posts to NF.
By those who seemingly had no idea what “balance” meant. And still have none.
So I’m not about to waste my time on something that will end up as a lot of talk and zero action, laudable though it may be.I clearly remember sitting next to a good friend, sadly no longer with us, discussing the idea of the “Premiership” during an Iron match the season it was floated as an idea.
I said at the time it would harm football at every level in England, and I stand by that. It has done so.Anyone remember the Don Welbourne/Graham Rathbone incident?
Didn’t that result in a ban that was unusual at the time?
The FA had decided, in their wisdom, to clamp down on violent play. They decided to make an example of two fourth division players and give them what was then a record suspension.
No first division players were given anything like that kind of discipline even though they were the main culprits.
The incident was nothing more than handbags.I seem to remember George Best being sent off fairly soon after and receiving only a three MATCH ban.
When questioned the FA said something along the lines of “People turn up to see Man Utd and expect Best to be playing. We shouldn’t disappoint them”, or some other such nonsense. How’s that for a conspiracy theory, Furrite?
