February 19, 2022 at 8:05 pm in reply to: Petition Scunthorpe and North Lincolnshire Council #232286
What would we petition them to do, exactly?
Whilst I agree with BI66 in principal, let’s not give the fat man another excuse.

Hill out?
Probably all our chairman have left a debt Wharton certainly did,but that’s what most clubs do, we’re not special in that way, but you just expect Swann to walk away, why? I am sure non of us would, what big thing have you given away?.
Because one of his statements said he’d leave our club better off when he went?
Well it looks like he’s had enough: putting no money in, not paying off the loan to let us sign anyone worthwhile, not attending matches any more, etc etc.
No.
But according to the latest podcast the club has done “the best it can given the circumstances”.
Yet I got a b*llocking for calling that bs.
Some folk are too easily either led, or satisfied.
Name of the game for this club under Swann.

Does it say how much they had to raise?
Will we be able to raise £11 let alone £11 million?Do you mean SNAFU?
Yep.
So the one thing that Swann improved turns out to have been Wharton’s idea anyway. Is it bustitition to Donny?
I’m off to Darlington on 2nd March and need to be on time.Yep, and that’s very different to ‘Swann/the club did all they could to keep us up’ with quite different connotations and implications. You make it sound like they were defending Swann, and so much you felt like vomiting. Massive exaggeration and distortion of reality. At no point did they defend Swann.
Swann owns the club, mate.
To all intents and purposes he IS the club, and has made us aware we are just customers.
You lick his arse all you want.😄I’m not going to.😉
Remember when they used to close the A18 between Berkeley Circle and the M181?
Are Derby County safe, then?
Read my post again and maybe you’ll get the point I’m making. 🤦🏻♂️
Instead of telling others to read your posts again, why not read theirs and respond to their questions?
It really isn’t all about you, you know.

Just relistened.
“Did the best it could under the circumstances”.
Twice.Except Swann didn’t.
Twice in the first ten minutes, I heard the phrase, “the club has done all it can”, or words to that effect.
I rest my case.Yes all is rosy at Gainsborough Trinity, 17th in the Northern Premier League is some achievement. That’ll really show the Swanns.
Swann was shown to be a mouthy pratt there, and a braggart here.
not much difference.
He never took their ground though.2 users thanked author for this post.
They must be laughing up their sleeves at us.
Tell me again how they got rid of the fat tw@ ?1 user thanked author for this post.
The end of season statement from Swann will go along the lines of:
“We got relegated and it was the fault of the supporters, the council, and COVID.”
Got it in one.

Feeney might be a better player in the long run, maybe Sinclair will, but getting rid of one player who was playing well and replacing him with a couple of players who have yet to contribute anything seems a strange decision when you need points urgently
Not as far as Swanny is concerned if it saves £££
Bet they are on less money though?
I can’t imagine Hippolyte was a particularly big earner when you look at where he came from, when he was signed and then compare him to the players who have come in.
But who signed him? We have no idea what lunatic deals were struck, but have only to look at giving sicknote Hallam a TWO YEAR deal to have some inkling.
Why is that your business?
You can, of course.
I’m planning for next season in NL.Our supporters are as milksop as the directors.
Swann has done just enough to ensure we slide into non league obscurity with not even a whimper of protest. But not enough to have made any difference. But just in case, he’s hiding anyway. What a pathetic coward.
And most supporters are as bad.Want to bet if you polled supporters at the ground they’d be parroting phrases like, “He tried” and “coooooovid”.
Utterly pathetic.
We deserve what we are going to get.2 users thanked author for this post.
I don’t know why some supporters think that we will be ok if we drop into non-league football. We definitely WON’T with the SWANN family still owning our Club. There would have to be some massive changes. = New owners, bigger playing budget. Even with changes its is very, very difficult to re-gain league status and I would imagine our Club would be folded. With SWANNS track record surely everyone must realize now that him and his family have no interest whatsoever in Scunthorpe United existing as football club.
I don’t think it’s the fact that everyone is thinking it’s ok, probably closer to the fact that we need some optimism to keep us attending games, or else what’s the point ?
Southend are in a worse position than us, both on and off the field and seem to have galvanised themselves recently. Oldham have fallen from greater heights than ourselves and have an owner who really doesn’t give a f**k, yet their away support the other week was fantastic.
Every opinion from a Scunthorpe I’ve spoken too/read on here and elsewhere all know we are in non-league for the long haul, and the national league may not be the point we bottom out; but at some point you’ve got to accept the situation and support the club in whatever way you can.
1. There is no point trying to support an organisation whose owner no longer cares.
2. We don’t HAVE to accept the situation, we can walk. I’ll always want my club to do well, but like a kicked dog, eventually I’ll bite.
Bet they are on less money though?
I hope they do…from what I’ve seen of some of their attacking play this season, ( on you tube), they’ll do for us next year.
As I’ve stated before, I do respect the optimism of some, but a few on here seem to be thinking we’ll drop into non league and then easily hold our own.
Two points:
Ask York how easy it is/was.
Not on this budget, we won’t.1 user thanked author for this post.
‘On this result I reckon we registered our last ever league win on Tuesday night.’
Think we’ll get at least a few wins at home and the odd point but obviously nowhere near enough. Just can’t see another 7-8 wins
Hope you’re right, but can’t see it.
Well, I tried.
I showed optimism and look where it got me.On this result I reckon we registered our last ever league win on Tuesday night.
