With all the furore after the last game when do you say the so called more experienced professionals have had their chance let’s try the younger players!
These players are spending time with the 1st seeing how things are done getting to know the management and players, we have seen glimpses of these players in hornshaw,Pugh, barks,Dawson, and most recently Harry Jessop.
Unfortunately in most of these players cases they have been thrown in out of position and haven’t really had chance to show what they are really about.
Next season looks like it will be even worse then this season regarding the financial side of the club so surely with many of this seasons squad being out of contract we should be now looking at these players instead of continually playing players that are not good enough or very controversially don’t care.1 user thanked author for this post.
April 15, 2021 at 10:12 am #204808It makes so much sense and many of us have been calling for it for weeks.
Of course, chucking in several of them at a time into a struggling & under-motivated side is not necessarily the best way of giving very young players the chance to shine but I would definitely recommend putting in 2 or 3 of the best prospects to see how they get on. After all, isn’t this what the chairman wants us to be all about as a club?
April 15, 2021 at 10:51 am #204810Agree with Ferrite.
And after what Cox said on Tuesday some of our present squad are not the ideal mentors or role models.
April 15, 2021 at 12:20 pm #204817Absolutely the way forward. A couple at a time is ideal. Manny is t fit so if we aren’t keeping Bedeau then pair Barks with Taft. If Loft is fit then play him in a 2 with Jessop and see what we’ve got. Pugh or Hornshaw off the bench.

April 15, 2021 at 12:42 pm #204819Agreed, Barks looked the part in the u23s last season, got to be worth a look.Jessop at least looked lively the other day, may as well look to next season, find out if they will be up to it now rather than losing points we need next season.
April 15, 2021 at 7:54 pm #204843I doubt he’ll go with Barks as we have Mcgahey fit again.
I’m still a bit nervous. I personally think we should probably go with McGahey in a bid to be as strong as we can at the back, in the hope of nicking one more win to fully guarantee our safety.
Once we “hopefully” get that win…then throw Barks along side Taft. I wouldn’t be against giving Jessop a go upfront with Loft once he’s back from injury and see how they get on.
I still think Hornshaw has something to off in CM as well. I would stick him alongside Beestin and Karacan.
May as well give these players a go.
April 15, 2021 at 8:56 pm #204850You all know my thoughts on the 1st and 2nd year pro’s.
We don’t develop anymore and gain the benefit log term and it is getting worse.
Hippolyte has another year and Tom Pugh has not had a chance and I know who would battle for the club and shirt.April 19, 2021 at 7:06 pm #205023I doubt he’ll go with Barks as we have Mcgahey fit again.

Hornshaw has no chance of playing just back on the grass having undergone surgery – ring a bell !
Getting the impression that there may be some surprises on the subs bench.
