Shit happens ( even if it happens most weeks for the Iron ) move on.
February 12, 2022 at 4:53 pm #231933I love Manny to bits but not sure I’ve ever seen anyone confirm a nailed on penalty with a second one within 2 seconds.

February 12, 2022 at 5:01 pm #231934Well, I tried.
I showed optimism and look where it got me.On this result I reckon we registered our last ever league win on Tuesday night.

February 12, 2022 at 5:07 pm #231935Thought Millen did okay. Beginning to wonder if we’ve written him off too soon.
The three goals – all I could do was look around to see if Charlie Chaplin was going to make an appearance.Sigh.

Think we’ll get at least a few wins at home and the odd point but obviously nowhere near enough. Just can’t see another 7-8 wins

February 12, 2022 at 5:34 pm #231938I take no pleasure in predicting the correct score I really wished it had been the other way round.
February 12, 2022 at 5:41 pm #231939We were actually putting together some good attacks- the most fluid we’ve looked in some time- until that act of sheer stupidity from Matheson changed the dynamic completely.

February 12, 2022 at 6:46 pm #231940Nearly every game follows the same path, as soon as we concede its then you may as well go home or stop looking because it is either boom boom boom we concede more or we don’t get back into the game, certainly it was a awful throw in from Matheson for the first but they got luck we wouldn’t get for the second, the penalty I haven’t seen yet but we don’t seem to be able to get a shock result anywhere, it is going to be a massive achievement to stay up so we may as well just hope we can end the season on some sort of high and we can get a squad to give us some hope next season, but I won’t hold my breath on that but I’m afraid to say it all goes down to mismanagement over the last four years and I hope our owner will be very proud from going from extent to the other.

Hope you’re right, but can’t see it.

A decent size crowd.
February 12, 2022 at 7:22 pm #231946Was at the game and it was just complete men against boys. We actually had a couple of half decent chances to go 1 up but to a man Swindon were better than us in every department on the pitch (can see why Grant didn’t get in their team, lost count the number of times he got caught in possession or gave the ball away).
I’m also really struggling to see how a Premiership team ever paid £1m for Matheson!? He’s the worst full back at the club by far and we have a few poor ones! Probably one of the worst performances I’ve seen in an Iron shirt, looked like a lost schoolboy the entire game.

February 12, 2022 at 7:54 pm #231947I know we haven’t got time but to gel eight new players together will take at least six weeks
February 12, 2022 at 8:51 pm #231949I thought we looked really good until Matheson’s stupid mistake and the deflected goal. Best we’ve looked going forward by some distance, we actually looked threatening but you can’t legislate for a mistake like that.
Only gripe I have is that we had Lewis on the bench, why was he not playing ?. Lewis has had 2 matches rest.
February 12, 2022 at 9:11 pm #231950You got what you wanted though Mick 4 years ago when swanny let Alexander go, if only!. Oh what lots would give for a team that plays boring football (supposedly) but keeps getting points.
February 12, 2022 at 10:13 pm #231953Alexander had much better players at his disposal so how the hell can you compare the two situations ?

February 13, 2022 at 12:26 am #231958decent first half display .. load of bollocks the second,, the stats dont lie plenty of shots some even on target for a change but no goals again.
Hate being right on this but my head did predict a 3-0 to Swindon earlier in this thread ..1 user thanked author for this post.
February 13, 2022 at 12:52 am #231960I know it was a 3-0 score line but it wasn’t really a 3-0 type game. I think the unfit players looked fitter and we looked much better going forward but we’ve got to cut out these mistakes and not play Matheson again.
Complete liability. Millen to be fair to him is play quite well now but that young lad from Wolves looks awful.
Hill should play Lewis ahead of him. O’malley is due back and Thompson can’t be far away now.
February 13, 2022 at 1:13 am #231961Thompson was on the bench
Just watched Gareths Ironarmy vlog and hes always pretty accurate .. we looked slow n no cutting edge , their second goal was straight out the book of Irish jokes by Rick Oshay a huge fluke and very unlucky for us, the penalty was no way a pen..Manny got the ball.
Swindon looked faster n sharper and had acres of space and a man over constantly.
Keeping the faith UTI

If that’s the case then why bother wasting money to sign them at the end of January? Especially as the majority are either on loan or on contracts until the end of the season so won’t be here after that anyway.

I didn’t want Alexander gone, I wanted to see the football played under him and Lucketti not the boring negative football played under him and McDonald that took us from top of the league down to 5th and we weren’t winning games with probably one of the strongest squads in the division and he started playing players out of position and leaving quality full backs on the bench, now I see McDonalds just seen his latest manager get the boot.

February 13, 2022 at 10:21 am #231978I predict an almost every week performance.
Playing not badly, a few half chances, blocked shots, corners for us.
Then the opposition take advantage from a mistake by us (loose the second ball, a defender who let’s his man slip behind, losing possession in a dangerous place), and with our lack of scoring goals we cannot repair anything. Later, given away space while trying to attack, they will couterattack to a second and maybe a third goal…Blimey Dutch that’s sppoky! Did you buy a lottery ticket? With foresight like that you could win enough to buy the club!!

February 13, 2022 at 12:07 pm #231989I agree with ironfromafar. Somebody had to have it looked as if he were doing something to try and keep us in the league. But in my opinion that SOMEONE knew it was too late anyway. In my opinion it was done to try and deflect blame as that SOMEONE cannot take any blame or criticism.

February 13, 2022 at 8:32 pm #231996Unfair on Hill to just suggest he got people in for the sake of people just seeing that something was being down.
Hill did his best and got in the best players he possibly could on a shoestring budget…not only that he had to bring in players that nobody else wanted and the reason why nobody else wanted them was the fact they weren’t match fit.
You can tell they’re getting fitter by the game but certainly not ideal or acceptable for where we are. All caused by Swann who went back on his word and didn’t pay the loan off.
Swann said “I’ll do everything I can to make sure we’re not relegated”…..fast forward 2 weeks and from the outside looking in he did the bare minimum.
Also you’re right, Swann’s not attending games and hasn’t been for sometime. I suspect if/when we go down, we’ll continue not to see him because he knows the shit that will be coming his way. Swann will avoid the club like the plague.

February 13, 2022 at 9:35 pm #231998What was it , 15 goals in 151 games between them, I think we only have 7 more to go before we see a goal out of them at one in ten.

I am not at all putting any blame on Kieth Hill re signings .. in a shit spot HE DID HIS BEST , and despite how things are going he needs time to sort out the pile of crap he inherited on and off the pitch ..time he doesnt really have to save us this season.
Imagine the stink caused if Swan didnt bring anyone to GP in January HE had to have some players come in to make it look like he was interested and supporting Hill the reality of that maybe different but at the end of the day the tragic state the club is now in is down to one man his ego and his desire not for SUFC but his own ends and self survival if / when it goes tits up.We are talking about a guy who is so hands off and un interested in his “business” that he doesnt even turn up to watch the games.. its like me not going to my office everyday it shows his distain not only for the club but the fans..and i cant see Hill staying long term which would be a shame as at NL level i think he would keep us solid.
Ideally some crazy Scunny fan wins the lotto or a consortium of guys comes in and Swan n co can be bought out .. there i go dreaming again , but has got that bad now a miracle is needed.
UTI , claret n blue all way through.

February 14, 2022 at 9:12 am #232002Manny got the ball
For the first of the second one?
Not convinced yet by any of the new signings, aside from Grant. Are Feeney or Sinclair really an upgrade on Hippolyte? Not yet they aren’t.
