Do we actually think that we have turned a corner after the Walsall match, or do we look at that result as Walsall being a very poor team, which they certainly are.
I would love to think the first option was my answer, but who ever is selected, we just cannot seem to field a team that can offer anything up front, we have to win at least six or seven more games, this will not happen whilst we are having just one shot on target as in most matches, this will not get anyway near the points total that we need. I love young Burns up front, but he never gets the balls fed to him, and he has to cover every inch of the ground trying to gain posession.
I am going for a 2-0 home win, I hope that I am wrong, but we cannot hold the ball up in the other half, and probably because of our squads standard, to me we just do not look good enough, what are your vierws guys?.

February 12, 2022 at 12:41 am #231897Sadly have to agree … coming away with anything other than a heavy defeat will be a bonus..
my dreaming heart says 0-1 or 1-1 Scunny …….. alas my head is saying 3-0 Swindon

February 12, 2022 at 12:41 am #231898I’d be surprised if anyone is confident of anything more than nul points. But ‘it’s a funny old game Saint’

February 12, 2022 at 12:57 am #231899I’m not so sure we won’t get anything against Swindon. Delaney is a huge improvement on Taft. Feeney, Grant and co will be getting all the more fitter with each passing game.
Hill needs to send them out with more impetus to attack and if we can be better going forward I fancy us to eek out a narrow win.
Maybe I’m dreaming, who knows ?
We’ll find out tomorrow.

February 12, 2022 at 5:03 am #231902Hill has undertaken the job of assembling what is akin to Dads Army, and I’m no time at all is expected to turn them into battle hardened bloody paras.
He got a win out of them on Saturday, I can actually see him succeeding here.

February 12, 2022 at 7:03 am #231903Walsall was a fantastic result, but in reality it was our worst performance of the season (minus Harrogate) for the first 30 minutes.
Can’t see anything other than a Swindon win, but happy to be proved wrong.
February 12, 2022 at 7:05 am #231904All the stats would tell you an easy Swindon win. But all we can do is hope that the Walsall win breathes so confidence into the team and you never know!
My heart says 0v0 but I do think if we can somehow get ahead this new team are a lot more capable of closing out a game. However, I do struggle to see where a goal is going to come from!
Ps my head says 2-0 Swindon!February 12, 2022 at 8:51 am #231905This is the IRON – you never know now that Keith is in.
You did if Cox had been there !

February 12, 2022 at 8:55 am #231906At some point, the plan to have Burns playing off Nuttall will bear some fruit. (Hopefully, a lot.)

February 12, 2022 at 9:27 am #231910Walsall were a very poor team but so were Oldham and we didn’t beat them.
Maybe we have turned a corner who knows? I’d love it to be true but I’m not going to get my hopes up just yet.

February 12, 2022 at 9:47 am #231915Would love to think we could win but I don’t, Swindon 3 – 0.
February 12, 2022 at 11:08 am #231916Can’t see beyond a home victory. 2-0 to Swindon. But here’s hoping for some Keith Hill magic…

Fair point, but scoring goals is still our main weakness.
Set piece goal on Tuesday, and probably the best we can hope for unless Nutall and Burns suddenly morph into *Toshack and Keegan!

February 12, 2022 at 11:36 am #231919I’ve consulted Steve McQueen and he says another clean sheet and a 1-0 away win!

February 12, 2022 at 12:40 pm #231922I think as Nuttall gets fitter and plays for longer in the match he has the ability to hold the ball up, we have seen glimpses of this already. The point les makes about Burns and Nuttall forming a partnership up top is vital if we are to create more up front and take the pressure off the defence. It won’t be easy but if the quality of balls into the front two improve we could be in with a shout today for a point. Delaney has improved the back four but Keith will also need to get his tactics spot on from what is a difficult fixture.
February 12, 2022 at 12:42 pm #231923I predict an almost every week performance.
Playing not badly, a few half chances, blocked shots, corners for us.
Then the opposition take advantage from a mistake by us (loose the second ball, a defender who let’s his man slip behind, losing possession in a dangerous place), and with our lack of scoring goals we cannot repair anything. Later, given away space while trying to attack, they will couterattack to a second and maybe a third goal…February 12, 2022 at 1:27 pm #231924Whilst I totally welcomed the midweek victory and much needed 3 points we have to be realistic. Walsall were dreadful, possibly one of the worst teams I’ve seen for quite some time. They outplayed us for most of the first half, and must of felt shocked to be 1-0 down at half-time when they could / should of been at least 2 goals to the good.
The sending off obviously changed the dynamics of the match, and although Pugh was unlucky to of received the second yellow, the ref was having a shocker and missed what looked to me like an obvious red card for Rory a few minutes earlier.
Do I think the squad we have now is better than it was at the start of January? On paper yes. However many of the squad are lacking in game time and are not ‘match ready’.
I predict the score will show Swindon 2 Scunthorpe 0 at full time.
February 12, 2022 at 2:23 pm #231926Hoping it all clicks for the boys today and we get a nice 3-1 away win. Burns and Nutall on the scoresheet for a big boost of confidence. UTI
February 12, 2022 at 2:36 pm #231927On the pitch 2-3 RBs, on the bench 2 LBs?????
Interesting how we line up, 4-2-3-1 maybe?February 12, 2022 at 3:59 pm #231928Decent first half display.
Hope someone has remembered to give Rory a new contract.
