An England team with a positive coach. Who would have thought it.

You should have watched this one Awaywego. Helped by Norway defending in a manner we are well accustomed to.

The Lionesses absolute brilliant tonight, great team shape, great strength, great passing and great finishing although they missed a couple as well but who cares. 8-0 against a side rated one of the best in Europe in Women’s International Football,👏👏👏⚽

Excellent performance. Norway were shockingly bad though. Have they been taking tips from us?

Pity they do not appoint the ladies team manager to run the England mens team, instead of that boring prat Southgate.

Well done tonight ladies,it was a pleasure to sit and watch them, and it had followed the England ladies one dayer at cricket, another thrashing of South Africa, and all this followed by my recording of “Love Island”, so a very enjoyable day, a couple of Budds Beer, and it also kept me out of the very hot sun.

Well I said I wasn’t going to watch it, and I didn’t, I was down the pub.

I am however pleased for the ladies, they are our national team. I am pleased when we win at tennis, cricket, golf etc. But I never watch them, I’m easily bored (yes and I’m a Scunny fan). I could have gone to the Amex yesterday, funnily enough. But the calling of the Harvey’s Best Bitter was the only call I answered.

Saw a couple of the goals during the ad breaks, asked Mrs away if she wanted to watch the game but wasn’t met with a positive response, EastEnders, Corrie and love island rules the roost in her house, well done ladies hope you go on and win the tournament be positive and don’t be afraid to lose.

A sympathetic response m’lord. I spent a weekend in Sussex recently and visited 3 pubs for a pint of bitter. One didn’t have any on draught and the other two only Harveys, who seem to have a monopoly round there. The head barely lasted back to the table! Can’t you petition for some John Smiths or Boddingtons and give yourself and others a treat?

They would also beat this seasons team Mick unless some footballers enter the building fairly soon.

The thing is that Harvey’s gets better the closer you get to it’s brewery in Lewes. Also it has to be looked after properly.

If you were to visit Brighton itself, you would find many different real ales. The Stag in Kemptown is a nice free house that has regular guest beers. Landlords is worth a try.

The other thing worth mentioning is that the nozzles on real ale pumps are generally much looser down here, so you never get a frothy head on the beer.

Norway played that bad, I think our side from last season would have battered them !. I don’t need to point out how shite we were last season. That’s how bad the opposition was.

Women’s football is very poor on the whole. Nothing against it at all, they deserve to play football professionally as much as anybody else but still the standard is shocking and nothing I’d ever personally bother watching.

Each to their own though !

The men’s game has been around for close on 150 years WG.

I bet if you were to be able to watch footage of a game from the 1890s it would look crap by modern comparisons.

    Give them time!

Of course they would, it’s essentially a different sport. Women can’t reach the same physical capabilities as men, so trained male athletes will always have an advantage, and can win on that alone.

The same as men’s tennis versus womens, completely different due to physical abilities but there are some cracking men’s and ladies tennis matches as this year’s Wimbledon proved.

I agree, and the proximity to the Ouse helps, just be careful the Environment Agency don’t catch you pouring it in there. 😁🍺

[/quote You have to be joking Wonder goals, their passing is very good, their defending is just fine, they give 100%, their work rate is far better then the mens team,, and you do not get that bloody diving and rolling about like the stupid men do, and there is a shortish of that stupid, boring time wasting back and sideways bloody passing that the men seem to have perfected. Their finishing in front of goal is not always hop class, but you cannot compare their finishing to Scunny’s simply because Scunny do not get in front of the other teams goal that often, so we do not really know what Scunny’s finishing would be like!! All in all there was more entertainment watching ten minutes of the ladies then if you sit watching a full Scunny game, but after saying that, “when was the last time I stuck it out for 90 mins ?”.

ou have to be joking Wonder goals

No I wasn’t joking. Women’s football for me is subpar, no doubt they would improve over time but I only care about here and now in terms of actually going out of my way to watch it for any real amount of time.

I personally find it poor. I wasn’t comparing women’s football to Scunny men’s team as such, I was just highlighting how bad Norway were.

No doubt it was more entertaining watching England vs Norway because women because Norway were bordering on comical.

If you find women’s football that entertaining I suggest you stick to that and don’t bother with Men’s football anymore seen as you went out of your way to highlight the plus points.

    Each to their own.

Before certain white knights start crying, I’m not in anyway a misogynist by any means, I just think the quality isn’t there to hold my attention.

    Really it isn’t that deep.

I think it’s shite though. There I said it.

Yes WonderGoals, I fully agree with your comment and I am the first person that would agree that everyone has a right to their opinion, but do you not agree that it gets so bloody boring when you watch the England Mens team that nearly every time a ball is played to one of them, their first reaction is to turn round and look who is behind them to take a pass??. And please appreciate that the girs are probably paid £200 per week at the saME TIME AS THE MENS POSSIBLY £200,000 PLUS PER WEEK, so on that score surely they should be putting 100% effort in, but I see the boot on the other foot. Anyway mate take care and please enjoy the new season, but I hope that you have not bought a season ticket, my I-32 SEAT WILL BE EMPTY, 71 YEARS IS MORE THAN ENOUGH, WELL THE PAST FOUR OF THEM HAVE BEEN.

Why can’t you enjoy both? Personally I just love football regardless of who is playing I will watch it. When my son played junior football (a few years ago now admittedly) the standard wasn#t great but the games were good to watch none the less.

One thing a prefer about Womens football is that they get straight up after a tackle instead of rolling around holding their ankle and then getting up and sprinting off 2 minutes later like the so called men do!

The standard of Counties level isn’t outstanding either of course, but once you accept the difference in quality there are still great games to watch, particularly if you’re backing one team over another.

After all of these decades that we have been spoiled with quality mens football, it is difficult to take an interest in the woman’s game. Except for the fact that the players are much better looking.

    Why can’t you enjoy both?

Because I just don’t see the point of me sitting there watching a televised Sunday league level match. I could enjoy both but I just don’t. Nothing to do with thinking women shouldn’t play football professionally, I simply just think it’s boring as well and poor quality.

There’s nothing more about it really.

Good luck to women footballers, they deserve to be paid well and deserve to earn a good living just as much as the men. I just don’t rate it or like it.

Well WonderGoals, as a livid Scunthorpe fan, no one can possibly condemn your assessment of (boring and poor quality football, because for the past 4 or 5 years you have seen nothing else at GP!!!!!

But I feel sure that you could possibly enjoy both if you really tried, but surely you must agree that the entertainment of watching a Southgate England team nearly sents you to sleep, if you were not so pissed off with all the back passing.

Just seen a piece on Talk Tv and some BBC bint jouralist slating the England womens team after their magnificent 8 nil win to reach the quarter finals .. apparently the team is TOO WHITE and lacking diversity as all player fielded and on the subs bench were white.. this is a BBC employee the national TV provider and IMO her statement is ridiculous … what next the Nigerian WC side side is too black… YCMTSU
