May 11, 2022 at 6:36 pm #237257So do I. Closer to me than Halifax!
May 11, 2022 at 7:36 pm #237260Not for me, rather have Chorley, ground nearly 4 miles from the train station, Chorley’s half a mile. Nearest pub I can find is 1.9 miles away.
May 11, 2022 at 9:23 pm #237266Not sure I follow your logic Awaywego.
Train journey to Chorley and back in excess of 6 hours. York and back about 2.5 hours. Chorley ticket about twice the price.
Use the savings to get a taxi via the pub or do you just like trains?

May 11, 2022 at 10:27 pm #237268It’s alright getting to the ground MK in a taxi but after you’ve no chance, well York is still on the cards “taxi”.
May 11, 2022 at 11:50 pm #237270Dedicated shuttle bus from York station.

May 12, 2022 at 10:17 am #237281Does your son still manage a bar in Newcastle NI?. A lot will probably make a weekend of the Gateshead game and maybe somewhere to call in at.
May 12, 2022 at 10:30 am #237283Yes, middle of the notorious Bigg Market.
Although it’s being gentrified (again) at the moment.
The Schooner Inn between the stadium and the river is a good pub for a pre match bevy.

May 12, 2022 at 10:49 am #237284Ideally Boston promoted from the national north for me but York as a second favourite
May 12, 2022 at 11:14 am #237285Not sure about Brackley whether their ground is up to EFL rules, Brackley sold York allocation for Saturday in 3 minutes god knows how many you get, York for me in this one nearest station 10 miles away.
May 12, 2022 at 12:25 pm #237288Kidderminster for me!
May 12, 2022 at 1:23 pm #237291Is it Kiddeminster that do the fabulous pies or am I mixing them up with some other team from that neck of the woods

May 12, 2022 at 2:49 pm #237293Certainly is. And the ‘Aggborough Soup’
May 12, 2022 at 3:05 pm #237295I Googled it earlier to make sure my memory was not playing tricks with and by sad coincidence the guy who started the pie company passed away a few days ago. It was certainly the best pie I have ever had at a football match by some margin.
May 12, 2022 at 3:56 pm #237296Isn’t it great that so much about footy as got nothing to do with football.

May 12, 2022 at 4:43 pm #237297Especially this season!
May 14, 2022 at 5:19 pm #237393York city now into the play off final after another victory at Brackley this afternoon.
It’s Fylde vs Boston in the other semi final tomorrow.
A York vs Boston final would be tasty!!May 14, 2022 at 5:30 pm #237394Reasonably happy with any of the 3 left standing, Fylde would give another potential weekend away in Blackpool. From my perspective I’m really looking forward to the new season.
May 14, 2022 at 5:42 pm #237395The pitch invasion last week at York cost their fans over 1000 tickets, Brackley withheld them on cost of extra police and stewarding and of course the hassle of it.
May 14, 2022 at 5:44 pm #237396You could stay at your mates hotel Awaywego.
If he ever finishes it of course.
May 14, 2022 at 6:11 pm #237397The man who made the pies at Kidderminster died 18 months ago and the club ended the partnership with the caterers at the beginning of the season so they don’t have the glorious pies anymore.

I’d rather have a weekend in Mariupol than Blackpool!

I can’t stand Blackpool, every time I’ve visited it’s rained, the only time it didn’t I was arrested*! No further action though, and despite the rumours my only brush with plod. 😁
* Twentieth birthday ‘present’ for me.

May 18, 2022 at 2:47 pm #237529We live near York and my 10 year old daughter is a York City supporter! I’ve had to buy two tickets for Saturday’s final. At least I’ll get to see first hand one of next seasons competitors.
May 18, 2022 at 5:33 pm #237535Piss poor parenting skills there Daz how did you let her become a York fan, I managed to get one grandson to be a Scunny and man u fan, his dad is a Lincoln and Liverpool fan.
