This present team is fast becoming the worst Scunthorpe United side in the history of the club. Since we joined the league I cannot think there has been a worse team we have had. We are seriously in danger of losing our league status and nothing seems to be done to address this. Three seasons on the trot now we have been in a relegation battle and we lost the first one got lucky with the second (season ended early) and look like losing the third and final one.

When I saw today’s lineup I thought that apart from the forward line (if one constitutes a line) it was a reasonable starting XI given our injuries.

Two proper CBs flanked by experienced FBs. Rather have had Eisa than Hippolyte but the rest of the MF are capable if perhaps too similar.

So really if you take out Loft and Hippolyte, all the others could comfortably move to another L2, or even L1 team and do okay.

Which makes it even more baffling as to why the perform as they do (or should I say don’t?).

Stephen Humphrys got a brace for Dale including an added time equaliser, playing up front alongside Matt Lund today.

Yet we remember Humphrys as another stroppy ne’er do well. Very similar in fact the the current situation with McAttee.

This is another feature of the Swann era. We seem to have had a number of players like this. Coincidence?

He’s fallen out with the press, the council, several managers and many fans.
    Why would players be exempt?

    He’s been an unmitigated disaster.
He has the ability, seemingly, to turn success into sh1te.
Witness the promotion with a whimper season, the failure after failure at playoffs, the team that led the league, scoring apparently for fun, then, overnight, became a laughing stock, and now the present rush to the non-league.
There’s one, and ONLY ONE common factor.
I said it then, I’ll say it again.
    This guy is bad news.
    Swann, Swann, get y’self GONE.

Swann is to blame, no doubt about it. Cox needs to go as well though. Cox has been dealt a bad hand but he’s so far out of his depth it doesn’t even warrant thinking about.

It’s crystal clear we need a striker or two but this formation is dreadful and it’s Cox who keeps fielding it so he needs to get gone.

    Unacceptable.

I was there in the seventies OSG days, and I can honestly say I loved every minute.

Yes we didn’t perform very well in terms of league positions and were deemed a Cinderella club, but the club had a grain of honesty running through it from top to bottom.

We always had a goal scoring striker up front and the odd quality player who went onto better things.

The ground from its name to the stands oozed character and was loved by the supporters. The few fans we had at the time were ardent and many still attend to this day.

Above all those characteristics spawned a fighting spirit and never say die attitude which galvanised everybody connected with the club.

In the 70s our team truly battled – however ordinary they could be.
This season, there have clearly been a few who have not always been truly committed.
The issue though, is more that silly systems have often left players bemused and confused and can make it look as if they don’t care when actually, they are simply not capable of grasping the headless chicken tactics employed.
Take Eisa, as an example. I really do not see him as not caring. Under Hurst, there was some logic. Under Cox, that has been hard to find. Eisa has suffered more than most from this.

Incidentally – I am assuming that the switch of CBs at half-time was pre-planned and not an injury.
    Anybody know?

It was planned according to Cox – wanting to get 45 minutes into their legs

The switch wasn’t planned at half time cox said his hamstring felt tight so he brought him off. Why play him from the off he was not match fit. He say’s he wont rush players back and that is exactly what he did.

It was planned according to Cox – wanting to get 45 minutes into their legs

That’s absolutely true, so we wait till next Wednesday when Cox announces that McGahey is out injured for another 4 to 6 weeks with an aggravation of his hamstring injury.

Cox said it wasn’t pre-planned he wanted to get him 60-70 minutes but he felt a tightness so he took him off at half time instead. Still a stupid chance to play him in the first place with his injury record so like you say he might be out again for a number of games. He is another one that is injury proned.

I go back mid 1960s and this is the worse team I have seen representing Scunthorpe United by a country mile. Its totally unacceptable and action needs to be taken today. Swann you are a disgrace. If I never go to Glanford Park again it’s down to you,you have destroyed our proud little football club. There are very few if any new young supporters waiting to fill the gaps us oldies will leave because of the shambles you have created. All the debt is down to you and your incompetance so make sure you pay it and then go. I despise you and the way you have misstreated our club and us the supporters. I’m running out of words that can be used on this platform that accurately describe my true feelings of your ineptitude and dictatorial methods you have employed as chairman.

I don’t even live in the town and still know a number of youngsters who have quit because the football is so boring!
The number of adults – if they are not just blowing off steam – could be approaching double figures!

Plenty of young UN’s coming through j charles. Noggers bus used to be a saga crew bus but of late numerous youths are now travelling, though to the dismay of some on the bus. If you don’t want to go anymore just jog on,but don’t make out there’s no new fans coming through.
