Genuinely one of the funniest things I’ve seen on a football pitch.
We’ll miss him, Elliott is a poor fit for our system.
Can we recall Bennett and/or Carver?
Even if we wanted to, I doubt the club would want to take the financial hit involved in doing so.
January 3, 2024 at 10:20 am #278711As the top scorer in the NLN, what’s he worth?
I wonder if anyone has had a look at him and thought – yeah, why not?January 3, 2024 at 11:53 am #278714As the top scorer in the NLN, what’s he worth?
I wonder if anyone has had a look at him and thought – yeah, why not? What anyone is prepared to offer for him. But do we want to sell ?

I wonder if anyone has had a look at him and thought – yeah, why not?Yes, Chiperfields Circus were watching him, he would fit in nicely into one of their shows under the big top, possibly in a tumbling act.
As for being the leading scorer, if he took a few more of his many chances he would now be approaching the 30 mark nfor this season.January 3, 2024 at 12:14 pm #278720If he was approaching the 30 mark he would be gone already.

The system we used at Gainsborough seemed to work OK for him.
January 3, 2024 at 12:31 pm #278723Good chance for Elliott to show us what he’s made of in what I’m sure is his preferred position.
He has 3 fairly tough games to do it in.

If that were the case, he’d never have signed for a 6th tier club. Be realistic.

If we can find a system that involves playing against teams from lower leagues, then I’m all for it! Personally, I have seen very little from Elliott but he must have something to offer looking at his pedigree.
January 3, 2024 at 1:43 pm #278728On course for 25 goals this year. Sure there are parts of his game he can improve on and I’m not a fan of the play acting, but he’s doing the job he’s paid to do and sticking it in the back of the net.
Actually thought December was his best month for us too.

Absolutely agree. You can tell some games just don’t suit him because due to his size he’s neither dominant in the air and isn’t overly physical so can be bullied at times.
Bit of an odd ball as he appears to be a diminutive poacher striker stuck in target man type body. To be fair to him he’s scoring and is joint top scorer do we can’t criticise too much.
January 3, 2024 at 6:30 pm #278741Thought Elliott looked decent earlier in the season, even though he was generally playing out of position on the wing. The header he scored against Chorley was fantastic, a proper strikers finish.
The penalty miss during the flood vs Buxton seemed to put a bit of a downer on him and he hasn’t looked the same since. Good hold up play for our second last weekend though. Hopefully a run of games in his preferred position gets him back amongst the goals!

January 3, 2024 at 9:08 pm #278749Thing is with Elliot as well as any other striker is that he needs a run of games and least now he’ll get 3 non stop games. Up to him now to grasp the opportunity.
January 4, 2024 at 4:17 am #278753Whitehall misses too many straightforward goal chances with his head – but ‘top scorer’ in the NLN is hard to gainsay.
January 4, 2024 at 10:24 am #278757Nobody is asking him to change the way he plays apart from the bit where he throws himself to the ground for no apparent reason.
He may then have a ored over 30 goals so far, and yes someone may come and buy him, but at least we would get some decent cash in.
Everyone can improve, especially at the level we are at.

AFAIR he hasn’t been booked for “simulation” which would suggest there’s some sort of contact. Funneling down from the Prem., don’t forget the slightest touch is potentially a foul. Today’s players would have been ridiculed 50 or so years ago for their reaction to tackles, now, sadly, part of the game.
January 4, 2024 at 11:22 am #278763Let’s sell him and get a few quid in the piggy bank.

He’ll get sent off again before the season finishes.
CBs will know that he’s easily wound up.
LCB has first pop at him. Yellow.
RCB has second pop at him. Yellow. Off.
I’d target him.January 4, 2024 at 7:54 pm #278801Sent off once in 25 league games and that’s the conclusion you come to?
It shouldn’t have been a red, for either player. Somehow they did eachother over with their playacting.

If you haven’t noticed by now, he’s a wind up merchant.
January 6, 2024 at 5:59 am #278846JD has confirmed the club have appealed the red card for Danny Whitehall jointly with Farsley stating the cards were for violent conduct .. waiting to see if Whitehall will be allowed to play today.

Too many Hoyo de Monterreys to be smoked and Remy Martin VSOP Cognacs to be quaffed before a decision can be even considered.
January 6, 2024 at 2:02 pm #278882not really a surprise but Danny Whitehall appeal was thrown out and will serve a 3 match ban
January 6, 2024 at 2:14 pm #278885as a footnote the Farsley lad won his appeal … IMO both were as bad as each other and the Farsley player did try a sneaky stamp first.
January 6, 2024 at 2:41 pm #278888I thought we deserved a penalty.
The theatricals after were embarrassing.January 9, 2024 at 12:33 am #278980Missed him v Boston, a target man who leads the line. Quite like Whitehall, Elliot and Roberts as a front three.

Is that right? How on earth did they come to that conclusion?

Personally, I felt we lost out in the midfield battle against Boston in the second half and that cost us.

That’s a good way of putting it. I do think there’s a very decent player in there – but (despite being top scorer) you don’t often come away from a match with the impression that he’s turned in a really good performance.

We are lacking some serious beef in midfield.
