With the players you thought might be retained based on their Tweets? Can’t seem to find it but would be interested to compare with the actual retained list.
May 11, 2024 at 6:38 pm #285666It is in the Club Statement thread.
“ In terms of a player retained list it’s not an exact Science but you might be able to work a few out based on the player tweets that the club are reposting and the wording of them (or in the case of those leaving the lack of certain wording in them):
Staying?
Cal Roberts – “we’ll be back stronger and better for sure”
DSF – “Time to recover, regroup and refresh and go again next season”
Whitehall – “All we can do is go again”
Tom Pugh – “We rest up and (go) again next season”Going?
Scales – “Thankyou for all the support this season”
Denton – “Gutted, thank you for your continued support throughout”1 user thanked author for this post.
May 11, 2024 at 11:27 pm #285670Mixed bag there then. Think there’s enough evidence for us not to read too much into their end of season posts. Shame; genuinely wanted a scientific hypothesis!
May 12, 2024 at 10:36 am #285672Bru is probably not the place to look for that kind of thing.

May 12, 2024 at 11:27 am #285674I have got a hypothesis with a tiny bit of science behind it.
Given Butler (probably with input from Turnbull) wants to keep 18 or so of last seasons squad to spearhead next seasons title tilt then he doesn’t think the players are the reason we did not achieve it last season.
By inference he thinks the 3 management that have recently departed the club were the problem. He couldn’t/wouldn’t admit this publicly of course but it is a fairly obvious conclusion to draw.
If that is the case then I agree with him.

May 12, 2024 at 11:43 am #285675That’s kinda inferring he played no part in the failure more an innocent bystander, im not buying that, should have been one out all out.

May 12, 2024 at 12:15 pm #285681Thought it was funny on the podcast when asked about muzzies position, they had know idea about the real inference of the question and the standing joke behind it.
May 12, 2024 at 2:26 pm #285683Should we all get off of Muzzy’s back?
To qualify to UEFA B level, a goalkeeper firstly has to acquire his UEFA B outfield licence.
Then, to get their UEFA A Goalkeeper’s licence they must firstly pass their UEFA A Outfield licence.
Muzzy was a terrific keeper for the club. Him and Murphy have to be the best I’ve seen.
Let’s stop ridiculing him and get behind him and the team.

May 12, 2024 at 2:56 pm #285684People are just trying to remember the last keeper that we signed that improved at The Iron. Can you help?
We also spent most of last season with one keeper, a very experienced one, so you surely have to agree he hasn’t got the most taxing job at the AA.1 user thanked author for this post.
May 12, 2024 at 3:43 pm #285687800 plus games to draw on.
If we need a keeper coach and he ticks all the boxes then why sack one to replace with another.
It’d cost to terminate him.
He can only work with what he’s got in front of him.1 user thanked author for this post.
May 12, 2024 at 3:48 pm #285688No Rene We’re strapped for cash and we shouldn’t be spending money on a goalie coach, let Fitz go train at another club at an higher level preferably, it’s a position where you don’t need them at the club all the time for training.
May 12, 2024 at 3:50 pm #285689So you can’t name one then, same as the rest of us.
May 12, 2024 at 5:45 pm #285690I’m with Rene on this, I’ve got no issues with Muzzy or the job he’s doing, he and Butler have my full support and respect.

May 12, 2024 at 6:33 pm #285691If they didn’t think he was performing well enough they’d let him go surely? We’re not his managers. It’s not like we see what he does behind the scenes

May 12, 2024 at 7:12 pm #285693He’s surviving his third chairman and if you include caretakers his thirteenth manager so I guess he must be contributing something useful.

May 12, 2024 at 7:16 pm #285694Must be. Some staff are just good to have around aswell as being competent and adding value to other aspects of operations

Na im with awaywego … sorry to all members but lets keep this in prospective , how much training does Fitz need ??? hes been around the block twice and just what does Muzzy offer apart from a salary to be saved and added to the player pool at this level he is surplus to regardless.
Jobs for the boys time has to be over .. save every quid
May 12, 2024 at 7:33 pm #285696Shame it doesn’t reflect it on the pitch where it’s needed every goalie of late gets worse as the season progresses.
Any guesses for who is his managers, And does anyone believe someone keeps tabs on him? And from MKs research it’s pretty obvious that the manager doesn’t have a say who’s the goalie coach.May 12, 2024 at 7:34 pm #285697He’s surviving his third chairman and if you include caretakers his thirteenth manager so I guess he must be contributing something useful.
YES but at some point ie NOW salarries must be saved .. AB plus an ASST thats it .. shocked Hilton dint cull more before inc Muzzy.

May 12, 2024 at 7:42 pm #285699Thank God for Hilton getting rid of the perennial Daws. We all know if he was still here he’d have being be going nowhere.

Maybe Hiltons cull didnt go quite far enough EH ..Daws would have been at the club to share a taxi with Muzzy when the lights go out.
IMO .. a keeper coach at this level who has produced absolutely zilch over years is a way to ave a few quid GET RID… WE GOT FITZ AND A MIRIAD OF LOANEES INCOMING JUST HOW MUCH CAN THEY BE TRAINED “FOR ANOTHER CLUB” ..alas from the podcast seems Muzzy is part of the furniture in the AB set up.
May 12, 2024 at 8:38 pm #285702Muzzy is a specialist coach.
He’s got all the tickets.
He’s got all the experience.
He’s got all the knowledge.Do you not think that he himself doesn’t get frustrated by the fact that his ‘pupils’ aren’t as good as he was or able to do what he could do?
Michelle, LT, Lou, AB, Muzzy – they were there when we enjoyed our best times.
They are the people who have the clubs best interests at heart and to one day return it to the EFL.I believe Daws now works for the EFL as an auditor or regional officer.

May 13, 2024 at 7:21 am #285708What is the best estimate of points lost by Fitz last season? – Let’s not be too hard on the guy – all good GKs make some mistakes.
May 13, 2024 at 8:09 am #285709He probably cost us a point at Spennymoor. The ref cost us the other 2.
May 13, 2024 at 9:17 am #285710What is the best estimate of points lost by Fitz last season? – Let’s not be too hard on the guy – all good GKs make some mistakes.
The net result of points saved minus points lost would be well in the positive. Certainly he dropped a few clangers and, as a keeper, they usually result in a goal and are long lodged in the memory. A striker missing a sitter has the same net result but is soon forgotten. Lucky to have Fitz, he’s quality and the level we need to get back up the leagues IMO.

May 13, 2024 at 10:40 am #285715There’s very little chance we’d get a keeper better than Fitz in this division so I’m happy he’ll still be between the sticks.
Some of his distribution is the best I’ve ever seen (and that goes for all divisions!), but he definitely needs to stop thinking he’s Ederson and trying to dribble around players…my ticker can’t take that for another season.
