January 20, 2022 at 4:23 pm #222177may as well go back to Middlesborough
January 20, 2022 at 5:06 pm #222180It’s usually a 3 match ban for being charged with the E1.1 regulation, maybe spitting is seen as twice as bad so they have doubled it to 6 games. Either way its a disgusting thing to do to an opponent and he fully deserves his ban.

January 20, 2022 at 5:09 pm #222181Has to be sent back now. Doesn’t matter where you are in the league that is not acceptable

January 20, 2022 at 5:34 pm #222185Poor form, I wonder if this will lead to the return of the missing man: Alex Perry.
January 20, 2022 at 5:43 pm #222188Is he the one with long Covid
January 20, 2022 at 6:08 pm #222191Dirty (add expletive)! – Had he been one of our own I’d expect the club to take further action. But seeing as he is here on loan, he should be sent back, effective immediately. Disgraceful behaviour at any time, but during this pandemic? Good job the cameras caught him.

January 20, 2022 at 6:10 pm #222192No idea Mick, I just know he’s not been seen for several weeks.
What about Millen? Another one MIA.

January 20, 2022 at 9:37 pm #222213Admitted the offence and accepted the ban eh?
Anyone would think he didn’t want to play for a bunch of no-hopers!
January 21, 2022 at 9:32 am #230072Six games?
How long did that guy get for biting someone for the second or third time? They always hit the little clubs with the maximum.
Not condoning anything, just saying…

January 21, 2022 at 10:19 am #230084January 21, 2022 at 10:35 am #230087Eight weeks if I remember correctly . Very unusual and harsh at time
January 21, 2022 at 1:06 pm #230092Was very harsh ‘Open Hearth Iron’ – and the clubs were banned from paying them wages.
Decision at that time was made by people of clubs whose players had committed worse yet got lower suspensions in that season.

Suarez received a 10-match ban for biting Ivanovic when he was at Liverpool. But don’t let facts spoil your paranoid “theories”.
January 21, 2022 at 3:11 pm #230098Wasn’t Rathbone a Grimsby Town player, were they fighting on the pitch.
January 21, 2022 at 3:13 pm #230099Ratbone started it.

He was always better at playing Sherlock then football, oh sorry that was Basil. I presume the “Ratbone” was intentional Les.🤔

January 21, 2022 at 6:07 pm #230104As I recall it, the Cod ‘ed responded violently to a strong tackle by Welbourne.
From where I was (side of pitch) it just looked like a fairly heavy tackle and, in those days, I did not really expect a free kick.
Welbourne was then thumped. As I saw the overall, a legit tackle was made. Let’s assume I didn’t quite see it all from my angle – it was not a booking level challenge and surely not a sending off, IMHO.
I remember my comments to those not there that he got an 8 week ban for being violently assaulted.
I suspect that the ref was conscious (does that sometimes happen?) that it was a derby match and was trying to show an artificial even-handedness.
Anyone have a clearer view than that?
January 21, 2022 at 6:56 pm #230105Anyone remember the Don Welbourne/Graham Rathbone incident?
Didn’t that result in a ban that was unusual at the time?
The FA had decided, in their wisdom, to clamp down on violent play. They decided to make an example of two fourth division players and give them what was then a record suspension.
No first division players were given anything like that kind of discipline even though they were the main culprits.
The incident was nothing more than handbags.1 user thanked author for this post.

Try reading my post before going off on a half-witted rant.

The incident was nothing more than handbags.I seem to remember George Best being sent off fairly soon after and receiving only a three MATCH ban.
When questioned the FA said something along the lines of “People turn up to see Man Utd and expect Best to be playing. We shouldn’t disappoint them”, or some other such nonsense. How’s that for a conspiracy theory, Furrite?
