Water under Keadby Bridge. (To use a regular quote from a long-departed local reporter)
November 30, 2023 at 7:30 am #277614Rance is still technically our player and hasn’t been paid off yet
Wow. Just add that to the list of unpaid bills!
Academy staff haven’t being paid redundancies yet either.
WHAM closed it in early August.November 30, 2023 at 10:36 am #277631Do you think Michelle and co will hand over the ground for free at the end of their tenure to new owners Rene.
November 30, 2023 at 11:56 am #277633On the subject of the Academy: there was a discussion about the reasons for Tamworth’s success recently. They have a thriving academy, or did. Don’t know how many players move up to their first team, perhaps not many, but perhaps points to some indirect benefits of having an academy? There were some on here who were quite adamant an academy is unnecessary at our level. Maybe it’s pros outweigh it’s cons?
November 30, 2023 at 1:37 pm #277635All depends on what form it takes and what it costs to run!
November 30, 2023 at 1:54 pm #277636I demand Michelle and co reopen the academy forthwith.
November 30, 2023 at 2:11 pm #277637Just posed a question awaywego. Remember where not asking questions can lead to?
November 30, 2023 at 2:40 pm #277638Do you think Michelle and co will hand over the ground for free at the end of their tenure to new owners Rene.
Is Swann giving it to them free.
I’d half forgive him if he transferred it in to a supporters group / trust / foundation name for free.
November 30, 2023 at 2:50 pm #277639Financially, what difference is there between the NL and the NLN? On the field, whether we are promoted or not, I imagine the vast majority of this squad will either have to leave or have contracts renegotiated.
Just had a quick flick back and it would seem that contracted for next season are:-
Whitehall, Kelly, Fitzsimons, Kouogan, Roberts and Law.
Of the others I’d be happy to see 10 leave but hope an agreement (reduction) can be reached with at least some of the others.November 30, 2023 at 3:18 pm #277641Can you see us being full time next season if we aren’t promoted at the end of this?
November 30, 2023 at 3:26 pm #277642As I said somewhere else, I would expect any reduced contracts with us to still be competitive at our level, whether that’s NL or NLN. I can’t see many able to step up higher than NL and several have been P/T in the past and might not take too much of a hit if they revert. Let’s be optimistic and say NL could see us still as full time.
November 30, 2023 at 4:27 pm #277648Did Swann get it for free off Wharton Rene, and I doubt wether he’s interested in you forgiving him either, who are you?
January 31, 2024 at 1:26 am #280113The Oedipus effect is shaping our season.
January 31, 2024 at 12:32 pm #280160Games played to date against teams occupying places 3rd to 7th in the league:

March 1, 2024 at 11:46 pm #281908It’s EIGHT games since we last scored in the first half of a league game.
Patience is a virtue.

Patience is a virtue.
The 2-2 draw with Chester moves us on to nine games without scoring in the first half.

We aren’t promoted this season?
Shaping up to be:
“When we aren’t promoted this season”
March 5, 2024 at 10:03 pm #282102Then we stay where we are and go part time, was always going to be a long way back, if we don’t go up prepare to dig in for the long haul.
March 6, 2024 at 1:21 am #282111Then we stay where we are and go part time
Not going to happen. I’m sure Michelle said not long back we’ll stay full time but will do it on a much reduced budget in a bid to become self sufficient.
I agree about a long way back, but we’ll make it I’m sure. This will only become a reality when we have a manager in charge who actually has a clue what he’s doing and knows the exact type of players we’ll need to get out of this league.
I must admit that having a clueless manager at the helm who’s wanting his team to play like a bargain bin Barcelona isn’t working. Pass, pass, pass, pass sideways again x10, Pass backwards. I bet the opposition managers watching this unfold are wandering what the hell we’re trying to do at this level playing this way.
Bonkers really. Jimmy has seen teams playing direct percentage football and cutting us open game in game out and yet it hasn’t clicked that we maybe approaching this level of football incorrectly.
Only worked before because Connor Smith was miles above this level and Butterfield was having a purple patch while scoring Paul Scholes like screamers game in game out.
March 6, 2024 at 8:24 am #282127… was always going to be a long way back…
It wasn’t. They were in the driving seat to control the division and go up as champions at the first time of asking – but they’ve blown it.

We aren’t promoted this season?“A much reduced budget”
Lower your expectations. If we couldn’t do it with a hyper budget, then what chance have we got next season?
April 27, 2024 at 8:33 pm #284614Tamworth managed it. It will be tough, but we can go again.
April 27, 2024 at 8:56 pm #284619Tamworth managed it. It will be tough, but we can go again.
They had a quality manager which fully understood the division and got 110% out of his players. That will be the key, appointing a quality manage which is going to fully utilize the squad.
April 27, 2024 at 9:13 pm #284621What? More than 100% – the maximum possible?

April 27, 2024 at 10:43 pm #284626What? More than 100% – the maximum possible?
Yes, even more than maximum. What Any Peaks did with a squad of that ability is bordering on magical.

We aren’t promoted this season?
Fast forward 12 months and we will have the answer.
We’d all like to achieve promotion to the NL next season. Let’s hope we taste that success.

What if we aren’t promoted this season (2024-25)?
