Last Saturday if results went against us we could have been bottom of the league 6 days and 3 wins later we sit 14th, I know teams have games in hand on us but I would rather have the points.
Think if we can get Kev fit and he stays fit we have a decent squad now, only negative is the injury to jem but now have 7 days to rest and recuperate so hopefully it’s not to bad and if he misses some games it’s only 1/2.
I will say this quietly as I will get shot down! but it appears mr Swann has finally let the manager get on with his job and things appear to be moving forward.
So a big well done to everyone! but I would single out onariase and Taft both have fantastic this week in very different ways especially today as the pitch was very heavy and defenders nightmare. UTI1 user thanked author for this post.
January 29, 2021 at 9:56 pm #201993Yep. Fantastic week and full credit to Cox and the players. We might not be the attacking outfit he promised but the organisation, fitness and sheer graft is there for all to see.

Personally I don’t think it was a case of Cox not being able to get on with his job, more the problem he had as a rookie manager trying to do something with the lucky-bag of players Swann gave him.
Some weren’t good enough to compete at this level. Others thought they were too good. Then there were stalwarts carrying long term injuries.
It’s taken several months and a couple of key signings to make us a competitive team. Too long IMO.
But, yes. A great week.

January 30, 2021 at 7:52 am #202002Much has to do with not having established a spine to the team from the start – with some allowance made to cover injuries. A spine eventually appears – and lo – the squad starts to hang together. How many times have I written the words ‘catalyst needed’, I wonder?
For quite some time now, I’ve been trying to get the point across that the squad is not full of total duffers like quite a few have been claiming.Take last night. I would be delighted to see all those players with us at the start of next season – and that probably also applies to the bench as well as KVV and McGahey.
Even the GK is looking like the custodian his playing history tells us he ought to be.
The manager stops playing one up front and there is a great improvement.
Who’d have guessed? This squad is not all that far from being a promotion contender next season. Most is going to depend on how well we do in hanging onto our better players.
I’ll be heartbroken if Gilliead goes. He’s the kind of player I would go out of my way to watch.2 users thanked author for this post.
January 30, 2021 at 8:49 am #202005Not sure if you heard mr cox on the radio last night mate but it seems highly unlikely Alex will be with us next season, he did state they have had some conversations about a new contract but with Jordan getting injured Alex wants to concentrate on the captains role until Jordan is back.
You could tell by the way mr cox was talking that he is almost certainly resigned to Alex leaving, as he stated he had told him he wanted to play at a lot higher level.
I too would be sad to see him go (if he does) but also I believe we still haven’t seen the best of Alex yet in a scunny shirt, this season he has been playing more defensive but now we appear to have a settled defence I would like to see him attack more and take on players.1 user thanked author for this post.
January 30, 2021 at 10:13 am #202015I wonder if this week is the start of a ‘Nige type era’?
Neil Cox appears to have excellent man management skills, the players seem to have 100% respect for him, and why not, he’s played at the top level. Plus, with respect to Nige, Coxy has better technical skills.
In the future when we see Neil Cox managing in the Premier League we’ll all remember what we had. -
