Really pleased that you have joined us. In a number of appointments over recent years, I have proffered certain advice as an introduction which a number of managers have opted to ignore – and have paid a price. Nothing extravagant just basic common sense – so here we go:-

Firstly – to get the fans on your side, please attempt to get players forward in home games. This is pretty basic. We like to see a number of forays into enemy territory in most games.

Please never defend with 11 players back to the 18 yard box – the fans will hate you and you’ll lose respect if there is no possibility of outlet balls.

Play a system which works for the available players and do not attempt wild experimentations which just annoy the fans – especially when they don’t work and keep being repeated.

Blindingly obvious – but please play the best team for every match.

Please worry more about what we do than totally panicking about what the opposition might try.

If we lose a game, in the after-match interview – please eschew all cliches.

Keep fans informed about injury situations – it will save a lot of bad feeling which is unnecessary

Give Cameron Wilson game time. This lad is going to be pretty good.

In training this squad, please teach them to create space. Far too often, the player in possession has no outlet. When that happens, we tend to lose possession very quickly.

IMHO this is not a bad squad but one which is ordinary. That should be enough to guarantee survival.

(I do trust that you have got some firm promises for a little bit of squad strengthening from Mr Swann.)

You forgot to mention he needs to monitor this site regularly for updates from all the armchair specialists who will advise on best formations, tactics and where he is going wrong.

Yeah. I get the irony but with some of the folly we have seen – there has seemingly been more sense overall on here than we have seen from the previous management.

Please, in case of an advantageous score, keep playing forward in stead of laying back and inviting the opposition to attack (in in most cases, to equalise at least).

    Best advice he could get:
Any player reporting injured/sick to have independent testing and fined if not genuine.

I agree with that Alcy, this club has far too many sicknotes. You do have to wonder if all the injuries are bad enough to be unable to play.

Hallam and Bunn are genuine crocks. Hallam has been forever injured since he’s been here and Bunn before he came here was a crock and again has been injured for the most part since he’s been here.

O’Neil doesn’t fit in this category but he fits in the “not fit to play league football category”
    so he kind of qualifies.

IF they are both crocks, and IF they have been crocks for as long as, it begs the question:
What kind of utter moronic lunatic signed/offered a new contract to them?

I did question whether Hallam had had a proper medical prior to the contract offer.

So this appointment seems to be going down well with Scunny fans, that is a good start, and if he can sort out the players that are never going to contribute, either by being crocked continuously or are simply never ever going to be league footballers, that will be a good start, and will also allow Keith scope to bring in a few players in Jan, it is pointless keeping these players on, and would be better to either pay them off or come to some kind of financial agreement with them.

Mr Swann has let supporters down very badly over the past three seasons, and possibly even longer than that, so it is up to him to sort things out with the new manager, with things like this EFL loan and embargo the club has, make a bit of cash available to Keith and let him bring in a few players in January, and please do not let these so called scouts get involved, so many very poor players have come into the club from their bad choices.

So with five out of the next six matches being home fixtures, we have chance of a good set of results if Hill can get a bit of sorting out done, it will help now Cox and Lillis have vanished, ten months too late, but they have now gone thank Christ. So go for it guys and lets get a bit of pride back into SUFC.

Best of luck Keith, the fans will get behind you I am sure.

Indeed a warm welcome Keith Hill .. i wish him well in what can only be described as a sticky situation. My personal choice was Hill or Adkins ..praying it wasnt Beech , Ball or a Swann “on the cheap” cop out and any other previously connected to the club..

I hope he clears the passionless dead wood and crocks quickly , PLEASE someone tell Mr Hill about young Wilson….. and more so he gets his chance.

UP THE IRON ..claret n blue all way through.

Give the guy chance, he’s got to get used to Swann’s arm up his back end before he can “say” owt.

Gave an interview to Matt Dean yesterday and it was on Radio Humberside – 15 mins. Compared to the previous manager very uplifting.

There is going to be an item on Look North today [ the 12th ].

He came across well – as you would expect a manager of his ilk to. If the words turn into the actions he is hoping for then dare I say it – we’ll be safe. He just needs to get to January with a 2 or 3 wins and then you would hope he has already identified players – he’ll want defensive cover and wide men? A striker would be a bonus because we are a bit light up front
