Here is the position.
The club either is (or could be) run in such a way as to make money in the NLN. Crowds this season are averaging 3500-4000. Multiply that by the ticket price…add on bits for parking, merchandising, sponsorship and concessions, and there’s a huge amount of money coming in for NLN. We should be – and can be – a viable going concern.
Debts, unclear, but if tax bill etc was paid, we’re probably not in the position we were in last year.
Swann has a piece of land with a football stadium which he wants to sell. Unfortunately for him, that land is worth more for a football club than for anything else. It’s not exactly prime building land, and any developer buying it would know about the stigma attached. You’d get a lot of flats on that site, but…who’s really going to want to live there? Partly bad location, partly circumstance.
Hilton has a football club. He sounds like he’s feeling that he’ll have to resign (listen to the interview).
There is a lot of goodwill around the town and with the Council towards the football club.
There are people prepared to put money in to saving the club. Maybe not enough, maybe not yet. But there are.
Hatred of Swann, despite every justification, won’t achieve anything for us right now. Hatred of Hilton will be counterproductive.
We can survive this. We must not be the architects of our own misfortune.
Can’t we have Swann back most of the debts have been paid and he can take it as a lesson learned.
