but still not quite good enough to earn 3 points.

The 1st half today was fantastic but we’re still not close to putting in a consistent 90 minute performance.

It shows how far behind we actually was under Cox. However, I do now believe we have a chance of staying up but we need an away win at either Stevenage or Hartlepool to get the momentum going.

I’m sure Keith will be delighted to have 10 days until the next game, a tongue-in-cheek comment in his post-match interview suggests the players might not be so delighted at what’s to come!

Thought after first 10min we bossed first half . They bossed second but weather main factor overall. But yes we looked a dam site better than we have hope it continues.

Really enjoyed our performance today, certainly a lot more energetic and the team is playing for Keith Hill, the wind was a massive problem and I thought a few players who haven’t done much under Neil are starting to impress under Keith, we scored from a good header and it is a pity that effort didn’t go in which hit the bar, also praise for the ref for not buying their efforts for getting a cheap penalty on a couple of occasions.

    Thoughts:
We are improving game by game. We are clearly fitter – and by a considerable margin.
Tactics are sensible – and what an improvement that is!
Players who showed little intelligence look like their brains are in gear.

Four weeks ago – we’d have lost both these games.

Best headed goal I’ve seen in aeons from an Iron player and Jarvo was oh-so-close to a second.

Great performance from Hippo; some nice bits of class from Perry; Beestin improving. All this against a backcloth of better understanding between midfield and defence. (Hill likes Beestin!)

Turnbull made Jarvo man of the match.

I think Millen gets into the side more for his angled crosses than for his defending. Thompson was decent and Taft much better than of late. How many cards has Manny had? – I really don’t fancy going into any match with Taft as our only CB.

As long as we move forwards from this point

Not sure, but he should have seen red today.

Enjoyable game given the weather conditions. We are slowly but surely edging in the right direction. Hippo, Jarvis and Beestin the pick of the bunch for me.

From what I can see it’s only his 2nd yellow of the season, I was shocked too!

Just hope the confidence grows & we go to Stevenage with belief we can win. Under Cox I don’t think the players ever had any consideration that they could win an away game.

Pugh would have been a great player for todays game, shame he was suspended.

Beestin brings out the best in a lot of the attacking players, the 2 full backs were involved a lot more too. Promising.

There is a class player in there but under Cox, we hadn’t been seeing it.

With players getting fitter and better game on game, you have to wonder, what the feck was going on under Neil Cox?

He’s a nice man remember, too nice to the players maybe? If so, they certainly didn’t reward him for that did they. Too much carrot, not enough stick, sounds like Keith might have a different approach.

A game we definitely would have lost 4 weeks ago! We are getting hard to beat which is a start as we would have rolled over in the last 2 games under Mr Cox.

Also we are starting to commit to tackles, getting stuck in and throwing bodies into blocks which I have seen not seen since Mirf and Murray Wallace played, we are also starting to get a bit luck in games defensively.

Attacking wise Aaron Jarvis is slowly showing us what he can do getting better with each game, and today myles and Alfie we very good,
Kieth has certainly got the best out of Myles and there at last looks like a professional footballer in him

Interesting comments from Keith about Alfie beestin after the game saying he can make him a championship player! We have known for a while that he is a very good player but his attitude was questionable but he in the last 2 games is back to his best.

I’am a Watson fan but I can see a very good keeper in o’hara and if there is any chance we should try to get him back in January, he commands his area and comes to collect crosses so would be an interesting battle between them if he came.

All in all a massive step forward 3 games unbeaten at home and I can see a win is coming soon hopefully this will be at Stevenage which would be brilliant, i’am beggining to look forward to games again which is massive compared to where we were a month ago.

    Upwards?
Heads up, we’re still rock bottom by one point.
Playing better, maybe, but yet to achieve anything.
We’ve gone from mathematically being online for 33.2 points to 33.9.
Still not enough by a long throw.

    BTW, Bartoniron:
    “Hard to beat”?
Lost three of the last six.

Man you have to nit pick! The boys are getting better and better and in two games we would have lost under Cox, they have showed improvements, not just with the way they are playing, but with their attitudes.

It had gotten desperate, surely you admit that much. So, as you rightly point out, we are still bottom of L2. But not adrift and every bit better we get is IMO a step forward, upwards, whatever. It’s pointless going on about words. The machinations are all coming through. I believe in the Keithster.

I’d like to lose the £10 I have on us for relegation, but I don’t think I will.

The players input of effort has gone up beyond belief since Keith Hill took charge, and I would think that a lot of Cox (nice guy) supporters have had a change of mind, he should have been fired last January, he hadn’t got a bloody clue with Football League management, and it is very doubtful he will get another job in football.

The strong winds controlled today game, and the two halves reflected this fact, but whereas a few weeks ago we would have probably have lost 1-3, today the lads fought until the final whistle, well done management and players. It was so nice that Loft was not playing, he has no ball control, cannot pass a ball, and lastly has no idea how to hit the net.

Our next four games against Stevenage, Hartlepool, Bristol and Oldham are all winable matches, and all being in the bottom half of the league, so even more vital in moving out of the bottom two positions. So well done guys, keep putting the effort in, and things could change for the better in January, if Tom Gosneys radio talk had any reflection on things. Ten points from those next four games will get a lot of us missing supporters back.

The improvement in such a short spell under Hill is just further evidence that Cox should have been axed much earlier.

Team now has a structure to it and a real identity. Fitness levels are visibly improving but still obviously not there yet. Hill get’s the fitness up and we play with that energy for near enough the full 90mins, I can’t see us going down.

Hill jokingly did hint post match that the players would be all claiming to be injured to dodge the training they have coming up and without a game for a fair while, they’ll get a right hammering which is much needed.

I expect to see further improvements upon our next game.

Today Beestin played out of skin, Hippolyte oddly looks a real player in cm and Jarvis really impressed me.

Millen’s defensive work is a bit dodgy at times but has a fantastic delivery on him. Thompson has good energy but prefer O’Malley. I can’t grumble today though as they all did really well for the most part.

I like O’Hara as well in goal. I’d like us to dump Bilson and if we can free up funds, we should sign him if at possible for a nominal fee to battle it out with Watson.

If Jarvis can keep today’s efforts up I’ll have to eat my words because that’s a million times better than what Loft has shown. I hope he keeps it up.

I always did say we had talent here but it was totally mismanaged by Cox. This shows it 100%.

This is a difference between a manager who 100% knows what he’s doing and a 1st timer who’s completely out of his depth.

The players fitness levels under Cox was a piss take. Thank God we’ve got Hill in. I’ve got to admit I like Hill. I hope he stays for the foreseeable future.

Can’t disagree with what’s being said above.

Thought the conditions dictated for the most part the tone of the game. Best 1st half I’ve seen from us in a long time and we deserved the goal. Weirdly, Millen has a fantastic delivery on him, great ball and a good finish from Jarvis who overall had a decent game.

So disappointed we didn’t get the 3 points but Bradford had the chances to win the game and we rode our luck again. Hill is definitely starting to get a tune out of this team though and there were times when we would have folded under Cox and lost that game. Plenty of commitment and desire on show- just need the players to start believing in themselves to go out and finish a team off.

I firmly believe if we have our best players available and they get their fitness up to be able to play with that intensity and effort for the bulk of the 90mins then we’ll be alright.

Looked a bit knackered around 65minute mark but fitness will come. Hill has a little over a week with them now and he’ll get more work into them.

Hill said a lot of our injuries are caused by players not being fit enough, also Hill is full of praise for Kenyon because he is a leader, and talks to the players organising them.

I doubt he’s wrong either, he’ll know what he’s talking about. Hopefully with a week full of hard slog and another game or two we’ll be fully up to speed.

many accurate comments added overnight all of which i agree with .. (i watched on tinernet then always check out Gareths ironarmy vlog Sunday mornings.)

Way better performance great first half.
    more desire effort n fight
    Fitness improving
100% we would of lost both Orient n Bradford under Cox
it was a joke for months with Cox and players took the piss .. now with Hill thats changed , experience and hes got the number of the likes of Loft.
    weather a huge factor
my lingering though (in hindsight) if only Swan had got Hill in a month or two earlier ??
next run of games are winnable and im crossing everything even my ears we can pick up enough points to get out and away from the bottom zone ..
Carlisle won today which isnt great as apparently they played a lot better than they have been.
I watched a local match here and its not good terrible bent officials and players with egos like Loft but worse YES WORSE who spend more time rolling around slightly injured breaks up play n spoils it massively. ..really miss the buzz of attending UK/Scunny games and i urge all fans that can go to GP to go and get behind the lads.
a month ago i was doom n gloom .. we looked down but after recent games something is changing and there is hope.. Hill could save us and i like how he makes decisions re Hackney etc Cox would have dithered as too nice guy..Hill is experienced organized and ruthless as Mr Loft is hopefully gonna find out come the New Year.
Try to get Ohara another good call , be interesting to see what happens in January ..hopefully we will still be in touch and able to stay in the league.

    UP THE IRON

I almost didn’t go yesterday with the football on offer lately and the weather, but so glad I did, much, much better, more effort, more desire and a joy to see us actually trying to attack. I thought Jarvis, Millen and Beesting were excellent and I left GP having thoroughly enjoyed the game, something I haven’t been able to say for a long, long time.

to be honest Pat I have enjoyed the Salford, Leyton and Bradford games, and the Donny FA Cup game wasn’t bad, there has been more entertainment in those games than we have seen in the last 2 seasons, at least it is value for money now and the opposition know they have been in a game and a lot has to be said about players ridiculed for being useless before now starting to look like pro footballers.

Effort and commitment in abundance yesterday the only downside is that the wait goes on for a victory. If Tom Daly ever needs a new diving partner he should look no further than Bradford’s centre forward.

Thanks for the comments guys great that we have a manager who seems capable of getting the best out of players if the improvement continues I hope to god we will stay up.
Myself I have not been prepared to attend games where the team was not giving 100% and where totally mismanaged by the inept nice guy Cox.Work permitting I will be going to games I really hope more stay always return,Swann clears the EFL loan and backs Hill in January.

Stay aways returning: maybe. Some actual wins would help.

Swann clears the loan: unlikely IMHO.

Swann backs the manager: see 2.

Best headed goal I’ve seen in aeons from an Iron player and Jarvo was oh-so-close to a second.

An absolutely magnificent header, like Paul Baker or Duncan Ferguson. More of that please!

On the negatives, if Onarise is one of our better players then we will get relegated. He’s good in the air but terrible on the ground – with and without the ball.

Not been impressed recently with him recently, on his day he is one of our better players but his level of performances are falling short for me.
