On a run of 6 unbeaten Interesting how Butler plays it?
November 10, 2024 at 8:47 pm #293630Prem I think you (and Rylands) could have a pretty accurate guess as to how Butler will play it.
November 10, 2024 at 10:03 pm #293633Could it be a defining match ?
Will the new signings play ?
November 11, 2024 at 7:22 am #293644Could Butler decide to give 4-3-3 a go under the precept of resting certain players and giving the fringe players a game?

Will the new signings play ?Maybe the new players will allow him to play a different formation. Let’s see who they are but surely an opportunity to slot them into the team and make an impact.
He might also give Brogan a start and remember Rowley but it’s a game we need to win.1 user thanked author for this post.
November 11, 2024 at 11:04 am #293647He can’t win in this game.
If he plays the ‘stiffs’ and we get shafted then he’ll get slaughtered.
If he plays the usual suspects and we win then some will say he should have rested them and give the squad players game time.
Hiding to nothing!November 11, 2024 at 11:04 am #293648A game we could do without really,I just want them to concentrate on the league.
And let it be at Leamington we start.1 user thanked author for this post.

And let it be at Leamington we start.I absolutely agree.
Cup games, unless you have a Gainsborough Trinity type run are meaningless.
We need to ensure promotion. Then again, every journey starts with a hop, a skip and a jump?
You can’t make an omelette without a chicken laying an egg?

Hiding to nothing! If we win he’ll be OK, maybe a few “constructive observations” If we lose he’ll get slaughtered.
November 11, 2024 at 11:42 am #293658It’ll be interesting to compare the 12th and the 19th.

Will new players help a new system be introduced while present players settle into it ?

Aye, it’ll define whether or not we stay in the Trophy!

Formation (in this one) – 3-2-3-2
Strengths – flood forward
Weaknesses – dodgy at the backLet There Be Light:

Chicken ‘n’ egg
November 12, 2024 at 4:34 pm #293706Were the summer recruits really brought in for the AB formation? – If so, why so many guys playing out of position?
November 12, 2024 at 5:55 pm #2937143-5-2 (more often 5-3-2 in our version) needs three things:
At least one centre back who can pass the ball consistently well
2 wing backs who offer a constant threat in attack
A holding midfielder that can (and loves to) tackleWe didn’t have any of those 4 before recruitment and sadly we didn’t have any once it was completed. Honourable mention to Barrows who has adjusted just about enough to be an OK wing back at this level.
I can see why we recruited Carlton although yet to deliver. The rest baffle me if this was the only formation in play.
Did Butler recruit for 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 and then get swayed to the dark side by Schofield? He did arrive post recruitment. One assumes Turnbull had some influence on recruitment and that didn’t end well.
