Fighting us closely to be bottom of the league 2 form tables. Last good chance to remember how to score a goal (or two) and win a game?
February 7, 2022 at 12:29 pm #231624I’ll join you for a drink in that Walsall saloon MK but I’ll be clutching at straws not drinking through them.

February 7, 2022 at 1:10 pm #231635I’m sure there’s a better bar to be in. Colchester left Saturday tea time. About time Carlisle and Walsall were tempted in. It’s Oldham’s round!
February 7, 2022 at 1:47 pm #231660Lose against Walsall and then win every other game left, will just leave us short of the playoffs. Will you be drinking Miller Ironawe? sure NI will join you in a pint.

February 7, 2022 at 3:15 pm #231675Hi all. Walsall fan here.
Interested to hear your thoughts on Tuesday night. I’m going for some bizarre reason.
I’d also check out our managers post match comments from Saturday where he stated ‘we aren’t in a relegation battle’ – which is one of the strangest things I’ve ever heard.
We have a few decent players, but a completely imbalanced squad. Morale is very low.
Our press and fans are suggesting Taylor might be sacked if we don’t beat you, with even a draw deemed not good enough.
Thoughts ?

February 7, 2022 at 3:33 pm #231677Looking at your recent results I think you are in a relegation battle with ourselves and Oldham.
You are going to be very poor to not manage to finish above the pair of us.
Keith Hill inherited a very poor squad but he managed to get them fit enough to at least compete in games. He has brought 8 players in but they are either loanees with little experience or experienced guys that have lost their way. Most have not been playing so now we have a match fitness problem again.
Hill will get them fit and we may pick up some points later in the season when it will probably be too late.
It’s a good time to be playing us but if we do somehow beat you tomorrow you probably should be very afraid.

February 7, 2022 at 3:36 pm #231678Hi Thanatos a few questions. Do you have a decent Chairman? DO you have decent directors? Does Walsall FC still own its own land and assets? If I remember correct your stadium was mirrored and planned similar to ours. I remember your directors coming over to Scunthorpes new stadium to view at the time when yours was being planned. I hope for your sakes your Club is being run much much better than ours has been under our current family owners.

February 7, 2022 at 3:56 pm #231681Thanatos I wouldn’t worry about us.
Tell your keeper to take a deck chair, newspaper and a flask. Doubt he will be busy.

Shambles to be honest pal. We pay our old chairman £450k per year for the luxury of playing at our own stadium and it’s crippling.
New chairman communicates much better but so far it’s been an unmitigated disaster. Rubbish appointments, crap budget and no ambition.

February 7, 2022 at 5:07 pm #231686Well, your manager’s half right, you’re not in a relegation battle with us, only Oldham!

February 7, 2022 at 6:17 pm #231689Another cracking stat from Iron Stats on Twitter. Iron have failed to win the last 10 times we have had a 5000 plus home attendance.
At least we won’t have to worry about that particular hoodoo for the rest of the season.

February 7, 2022 at 6:38 pm #231690There you are NLI they don’t own the ground and pay handsomely to play in it,and we are playing rent free at the moment until we make profit.

….well that’s the version the Prawn is touting at the moment but you know what his track record is on delivering what he says he’ll do.

February 7, 2022 at 7:41 pm #231697Well I guess we will have to wait for this year’s accounts, my guess is rent free.

Two terrible sides and a must win for both .. if you loose against us im sure Taylor will get the boot.
Im going for a draw which in reality isnt much good for either side though it may keep Taylor safe another week.
I follow Walsall fan TV and the very loyal and passionate Simon …. even he looks worried and is very depressed by the current Saddlers situation.
Camorn Scunny show some fight and lets have a win

Did you not notice he said they were paying the ex-chairman?
Theirs must have done same as ours.
And make no mistake, when Swann goes…and he will… we’ll be paying for our sh1thole.Happily, I hope to see the new owners pressure the landlord into either a low rent to reflect the facilities and their condition, or into doing much-needed renovations.
Either way, we dont pay that amount for what WE have. Walsall’s ground is better than ours. If they still have the Saddlers Club, way better.
Ground share coming up until Swann comes to his senses.
Now…how do I get to Brigg…?2 users thanked author for this post.
February 8, 2022 at 10:59 am #231731Their ex chairman also offered the freehold to the incumbent Alcy , but couldn’t take him up on the offer due to lack of funds, the offer is still there, separating the ground from the club made it possible for Walsall’s new chairman to take over, that would be the same in our case.

Just a point of correction. The previous owner of the club (Bonser) separated the freehold of the club when he purchased it back in the early 90s. We’ve been paying rent ever since
Leigh Pomlett (new chairman) has said he has a plan to get it back. No idea what this is mind.
February 8, 2022 at 1:45 pm #231741Also… I’m going to venture into the ‘iron bar’ pre-game- is this Away fan friendly ?

It tends to vary from game to game in my experience, hopefully you’ll be ok although be warned that the beer’s pretty poor, service can be slow & it’s not a patch on the bar at the Bescott.
February 8, 2022 at 2:29 pm #231747The plan to get your stadium back was agreed when Bonser left, they negotiated options to buy the freehold, read Pomletts statement 29th July 2019 from your club web archive. The rent goes to fund Bonser and his brothers pension pot. No away fans supposed to be allowed in the Iron bar but don’t wear any colours and you’ll get in,once in the fans will be fine with you and sure they will like a chat.
February 8, 2022 at 2:36 pm #231751The Old Farmhouse pub almost next to the ground probably a good option. Soulless estate pub but more choices of beer and away fan friendly for all but local rivals. Probably have a couple pre match in there myself by way of an anesthetic before another 90 minutes of shite.
