3 points but apart from that not much else to say about it. We were second best most of the game and didn’t really deserve to win but hey I will take another 16 results like that

A game we would have lost under Cox?

A really hard earned three points from the game, our first home win since October.

Oldham over run Scunny during the first 35 minutes, but did not take advantage of their many chances in our box, Rory came to the rescue a few times, but in general it was a very poor half, Newey summed it up by saying that Scunny were not poor, but dire!!.

Overall with Walsall having 58% of posession, 5 shots on target to our 2, and that we only managed 1 corner during the full match, it was dire as Newey said, but the lads stuck in, and even with ten men, Oldham never looked a team capable of winning, even agains Scunny with only ten men.

The game was not helped by na really terrible ref that managed to get many things wrong throughout the game.

WATSON—7—Would have been 8 apart from his poor kicking.
PUGH–3–Was having a poor game till he brainlessly got sent off after he had and earlier yellow, but he does these hard fouls in many a game, isn’t this his second red??.
    ONARIASE—7—King pin in defence.
DELANEY–6—Thought that he was also strong in defence.
MILLEN–6–Did ok, and great free kick for our goal.
ROWE—5—Thought that he made some good tackles, but a bit wayward with some passes.
GRANT—7–An old head which our team has been lacking.
SINCLAIR–4—Not very productive, and should have been subbed when he did not agree.
BURNS—6—Ran his arse off, he never gives in, will be a good addition.
PYKE—4–Very poor involvement and was not really involved in much.
FEENEY—4–Another player that did not do a lot, hope that these guys improve.

GALLIMORE—6—Looked good, and could be a regular later this season.

REF—3—Cannot give more than three, poor sending off with Pugh, although he often gets into trouble by his tackles Rory should have received a red, Walsall player should also been red carded, and Walsall should have had a stone walled penalty.

ATTENDANCE—3—A crowd of 2,123 including about 150 Walsall fans sums up the Scunny fans feelings after the Oldham showing, but all other teams in the bottom six apart from Oldham all lost, and what a difference the table would have looked if Scunny had taken the win last Saturday, but we are still miles behind, and did we really deserve the 3 points tonight??, it could well be that Scunny will be fighting Walsall, Carlisle and maybe Barrow / Colchester for league status, Oldham might easily escape, but where are Scunny going to get seven more wins, if we struggle when playing teams like Oldham and Walsall????

THESE ARE MY OPINIONS ONLY, AND MAY AND WILL NOT ALL BE THE SAME AS OTHERS, SO PLEASE GIVE YOUR VIEWS ON THE GAME.

Good commitment and effort, also, after the sending off, players able to act as spoilers, wouldn’t have been able to do that two weeks ago.
    Well done 👍

Up to the goal everyone 3, after that 9, I have no idea how Pugh was sent off when the Walsall player sent straight through him.

No my friend, I watched the full 94 minutes on i-follower, so no real need for your comment, maybe it would be more apt if you let us have your opinions on the match.

Yes we had one on two indifferent displays but we showed a lot of fight and as an attacking force non existent after the sending off. I thought Burns looked a real handful. The one player who contributed nothing was Pyke I am not sure why Nuttall did not start

Not sure why Tom Pugh was at LB. Even in his academy days I don’t think he covered the position.

At the back more right sided but KH obviously has issues due to Mason being missing. Nice to read than Dan Gallimore did well, will follow orders if given and compete for everything.

A game we’d have lost under Hill 9 times out of 10 too.

We were awful last night but we were lucky enough to finally come up against an equally bad opponent. Yet we even managed to look distinctly second best for the first 20 minutes and our goal – from a brilliant free kick – was completely out of keeping with the rest of the game!

I thought Rowe did well & Grant has something to offer but aside from the 3 points, I’m not sure how much we can really take from that performance. We were even the width of a post away from conceding another goal from a set piece.

What a terrible and difficult watch, thankfully a great result, well done lads!
For half an hour we looked as if the players had met for the first time during the warm up. Players had difficulty seeing the difference between white and claret & blue. Never seen such an inept display of passing EVER. I got the impression that Grant and Feeney were holding something back in order to last the 90 and not fade late on. Rory & Delaney outstanding, Millen & Manny pretty good (where did that free kick come from??) The rest really no better than average but faultless in their effort. We probably used up most of the luck we didn’t get in January. Same effort and same result on Saturday would be good, could we?

Sanfran, Pugh played at left back last week at Spalding and was one of our better players albeit taking into account the level of the opposition (thought his red card at Spalding was also a bit harsh for what it’s worth)
I know you have a keen interest in the academy players, is Lobley currently injured? Always thought highly of him as someone who could make the step up, would he have made a better left back option last night?

Cass, you say “where did that free kick come from,” the answer to that was from one of many mistakes that the terrible clueless ref made, it was plainly a dive, but it sure was welcome, and that was some free kick!!!

I liked the look of Gallimore in the few minutes he had. Not seen him before. He looked big and physical for a kid and didn’t shrink back. I thought Burns was an unsung hero on a difficult night for a forward. Their big lump of a centre back knew he wasn’t getting a second on the ball without a terrier at his ankles and I am looking forward to seeing some goals from Burns … would especially like to see him alongside Nuttall. Feeney was quiet last night. A lot to come from him I think.

Yeah agreed about Gallimore thought he did well. Gave it away in a bad position once but other than that I thought he looked comfortable.

Grant is what we’ve been missing if we signed him 3-4 years ago when Bish left things might have been very different.

Grant brings so much to this team in terms of experience. He must have ‘sold’ half a dozen free kicks to that clueless ref and he bought every one! I felt for Pugh. Two bookings that didn’t look remotely justified. On the second one I can only wonder if he didn’t react in some way that we couldn’t see to that wild, dangerous tackle.

Think the refs have all had a few quid pre season on the Iron getting relegated at good odds because we seem to be having to beat them as well as our opponents. Your score of 3 for the crowd is it based on attendance only BS because those that did attend were loud and proud. The scenes at the end were a joy to be a part off. Well fdone akeith and the team more of the same would do me for now. Burns for me M O M for his energy and closing down never gave their defenders time.

Like the majority view a terrible 30 minutes where we were so lacking cohesion all over the park it was embarrassing. Defensively panicky and just kicking balls anywhere which is just forgivable. Better after the goal, great free kick from Millen who I panned last game but as a full back he still leaves a lot to be desired. Nice finish from Rowe and for me second half he along with Grant and Burns were the standouts. Burns ran himself into the ground for the cause and to he looks a real find who should link up well with Nuttall or Pyke in time. Grant is a clever wily old fox, he won us five precious free kicks second half by controlling the ball in midfield and basically saying to Walsall ” come on come and foul me “, fantastic experience, him and Feeney look like clever acquisitions to me, bit more fitness into them and they will be pure gold for us.

Bit different non-league to league. Dan Gallimore could do it and Harry Baker although Harry has only just got back from a long injury after surgery and he may still be on loan at Pickering. And we also have Fin Shrimpton but FB is for me a specialist role. Not been to see the academy for a while – self preservation.
