The club has recently announced its 125th anniversary logo, though has yet to actually issue any official merchandise with the graphic on it.
So, I think it’s unacceptable for this person to start hawking their wares using the design. At they very least this move lacks class and is rude to the club, and it’s not even as if this bootleg hat-scammer is donating the money they make to the club. Clearly making a few quid on the side out of the club’s new design.
Therefore – no matter how good you think these look, this is an unacceptable use of the club’s intellectual property.
Do not buy.
May 17, 2024 at 6:19 pm #285927This really is bad form ,while the club probably don’t have the cash to stop them it’s up to us to not buy them
May 17, 2024 at 6:26 pm #285928May 17, 2024 at 7:05 pm #285930Is there any copyright issue here? Or inappropriate use of IP? Don’t know who owns such. If they are making money and not giving to the club that is out of order.
May 17, 2024 at 7:13 pm #285931Do you lot live in a shed, why pick on this merchandiser at least they are Scunny fans unlike the ones offering phone covers or the ones offering pin badges.
Third party merchandiseing goes on across all clubs and sports for that matter and always as done nothing new to see here.May 17, 2024 at 7:22 pm #285932It was used on the Beach Towel I believe.

Issued by the club? Fair enough, they have publicly used it.
Still doesn’t excuse this.
May 17, 2024 at 7:35 pm #285935Ffs ,the club spend time on it, haven’t used it yet and these people profit from it.

But this particular case is also to do with the fact that club hasn’t really properly launched its 125 merch. For ‘proper fans’ to do this really lacks class. Plus, they’re seemingly not donating their profit – and that spirit of supporters giving to the club for the greater good is the order of the day at the moment (see Iron Bru beanies etc).

May 17, 2024 at 7:55 pm #285938Football and classy behavior don’t go together and never should.

May 18, 2024 at 9:41 am #285946Clubs bigger than SUFC have changed their badges because of 3rd party organisations using it.
I think the 70s badge, someone on SUFG wanted the club to bring it back and when they didn’t thought sod it i’m going to use it anyway.
Using the new badge, Grifter behaviour.

Just playing Devil’s advocate here, but this looks like you’re calling out 64 for… well… more-or-less exactly what you’re doing on here?
Edit to add: Apologies if I have misinterpreted your post, of course!
May 30, 2024 at 6:54 pm #286417Would seem the club deems it acceptable to use a Jack Daniels logo on one of the new tee shirts, not good form imo.

It’s not the Jack Daniel’s logo, it’s a pastiche of it. There is a difference between taking and using the exact logo someone has designed and artworked, and using a pastiche of a logo, an homage to it etc etc.
May 30, 2024 at 8:40 pm #286422Pastiche yes but then to call it the No7 shirt probably infringes copyright.
May 31, 2024 at 10:44 am #286454Still got a SUFC T-shirt with a “pastiche” Heineken logo, and another mimicking the Calvin Klein one. Both bought from the club shop.
Then there was the guy who did “The North is Ace” plagiarism.
Nowt’s new!
