Putin’s scumbags targeting public libraries in Ukraine. A shame elements of the UKs far left continue to ignore what’s going on because they’re so obsessed with being anti US / Nato. It’s pitiful in my opinion.

Ignoring a war that’s getting wall to wall coverage?
I guess they’re looking at the often ignored ethnic cleansing in the middle east, 60 killed the other day as the aftermath of a forced house clearance.
I don’t doubt there are “far left peopke” doing as you say but I don’t see it as I hang around the center left

Th ‘centre-left’ Corbyn was on Hezbollah sponsored TV the other month saying we need to stop supporting Ukraine for ‘peace’. On this he neglected to mention what that means for Ukraine and its citizens. These are the people Deerey is referring to, I believe. Those who would rather obfuscate and finger wag at the west rather than deal with the uncomfortable truths that many of the west’s enemies are unplatable.

What has Corbyn gor to do with where I sit?
Hes clearly wrong about the effect removing support for Ukraine would have but he’s allowed to believe it.
Its our Ally thats murder in people for their houses isn’t it? I reckon we need to stop looking away .
Its our allies that tore apart the middle East and created more terrorism to fill the ower vacuums than we’d ever imagined.

He’s allowed to believe it and we’re allowed to criticise. I was bringing him up as a high profile example of those who Deerey is alluding to.

You usually complain when threads get diverted. Palestine is a separate topic.

Without doubt I’ve never stopped you. Threads usually get diverted into into talking about each other, this thread is about where the “far left ” are looking isn’t it?

This thread is about Ukraine. I am aware that aspects of the left only seem to care about the Palestine situation, but effort can be made to focus on other countries’ situations too. Unfortunately there are those who apologise for our support Russia in this conflict, and it’s that which Deerey is focusing on.

Palestine isn’t some acid test for human rights support worthiness, if they are excusing Russia they’re excusing a mass murdering rogue state, and I’d argue many who focus on Palestine aren’t being particularly moral. Too many are apologists for Hamas and Hezbollah, which is why their flags often appear at demos.

Just for the record, I’m referring to some personal friends who consider themselves further left than me, groups that I mix with in a sporting / social setting, and prolific figures in the media. Plus the odd conspiracy theorists I know.

I thought so, you’d mentioned them before. My reference to Corbyn was solely as a high profile example who has the same generalised commonalities with the elements you were describing.

Yes, understood that, and don’t disagree.
