August 21, 2023 at 8:20 pm #269982There should be anyone under 24 who the club have developed.
August 21, 2023 at 8:46 pm #269984Should help offset the horrendous losses of that pointless academy.
August 22, 2023 at 12:02 pm #270023Official Club Player UPDATE 23 June 2023.
Says that Tyrell Sellars-Fleming had refused a deal but ‘WE HAVE RETAINED OUR COMPENSATION RIGHTS’
August 22, 2023 at 6:33 pm #270045As I understand it because he had the offer of a contract, even though he didn’t sign it, compensation is due, as it should be.

August 23, 2023 at 8:45 am #270060Good morning TwoWrights – yes that is the rule. What concerns me is that Hull City declared it a ‘Free Transfer’ . There was no mention of the compensation that the EFL put in to stop clubs higher up poaching from those lower down.
August 23, 2023 at 9:14 am #270061So is this another youth team product now with a football league team, even though the academy hasn’t produced any saleable players according to our current leader?

Considering the funding deficit this year and even more so the year after, closing the academy should have been the first decision.
I know Hull offered 15k for Foster initially, you’re having to go some to reach the point where it’s not loss making.
August 23, 2023 at 11:40 am #270077Loss making or loss leader? Or false economy?
August 23, 2023 at 1:35 pm #270094Joey Dawson was going to sign but he felt someone was using him in a power battle so he changed his mind – and it was his choice !
After that despite someone hinting he would sign he had said he would not.

I don’t know the detailed ins & outs of the finances of that part of the club (and I suspect you don’t either) but the claim made by our current leader that it hasn’t produced anyone saleable in a number of years seems to be incorrect. Also, if you produce a youth team player who can play in the first team you can avoid signing an external player. So that’s another way to offset the running costs.
I can understand that the owner would be looking to cut costs but when that’s balanced against the sheer number of signings (one of whom has immediately gone out on loan!) it does seem like a very short-term approach.

Good afternoon, I’ve e seen a few articles stating he was a free agent, perhaps they’re mistaking his situation as I’m sure you’re due compensation. If he’s any good he’ll probably spend some time playing for Shelbourne in Ireland, not a bad experience for a young lad.

Either way, there’s a funding shortfall from the EFL and that is not going to be made up by selling assets as we don’t produce enough: It had to go. The wrong decision was the u-turn.

Am I right the shortfall is reported as being £250,000/year? That’s roughly £5,000/week. Which is, what, two players? I’m sure we could spare a couple of midfielders to save the youth set-up.
August 23, 2023 at 3:49 pm #270110250k this year and 500k next year I believe. The squad is too large, but I’d rather see the money go towards paying off some of the creditors than an unsustainable academy.

August 23, 2023 at 3:59 pm #270113That sounds fine Ferrite that’ll leave us with a squad of 24 that’s roughly £60,000 a week £3 million a year in player wages alone. Where would all that money come from.
August 23, 2023 at 8:54 pm #270149Didn’t we release him when he wouldn’t sign a new contract.

Hang on, serious question, what creditors and how many are ‘some’? Do you see the problem here? Not shit stirring, but we have been consistently and persistently told that money is not an issue, that proof of funds have been shown, etc. So what’s the score?

No idea but that is one of my concerns.

No – he was offered a contract and he opted to stay away.
On 23rd June the club stated in one of their Player Update Statements that we “Have retained our compensation rights”. These rights were brought in by the EFL to stop bigger clubs basically stealing developed talent.

October 1, 2023 at 3:40 pm #274240Sellars-Fleming on the bench for Hull City yesterday.
Does anyone know what our compensation rights, which we apparently retained, are ?October 2, 2023 at 4:47 pm #274330Sellars-Fleming on the bench for Hull City yesterday.
Does anyone know what our compensation rights, which we apparently retained, are ?No. I have asked the question several times and our fraud of an owner has never allowed an answer.
This makes me very suspicious !

October 2, 2023 at 4:55 pm #274332Probably been told to pay the compensation in cash, preferably used notes, bit like the season ticket saga.
October 3, 2023 at 7:21 pm #274432He’s on the bench again tonight, although I wouldn’t read too much into that as it’s probably just to give him match day experience.
